Road is cemented but still exercise caution when driving along Halsema Highway. There were times we couldn't see the road due to fog. Travel time to Atok is approximately 2hrs from Baguio. Some may experience sea of clouds at the summit but in our case walang clearing. 🔑 Sa Highest Point View Deck may mga nagtitinda ng ref magnets (P35 ea) at stickers (P40 ea). Pde dn mag-cr dito. 🔑 Mass is held every 2nd Sunday sa Lourdes Grotto accdg to our guide. Dahil sa mga gumuhong bato noong lindol ng 1990, lumiit na ang sakop ng grotto. 🔑 Sarado ang NBFF tuwing Lunes. 🔑 Masarap ang bola-bola siopao (P40 ea) at hotcake (P12 ea) ng Marosan Restaurant. Eto ang stopover ng mga UV express. Walking distance sa accommodation at municipal hall. Dito kmi kumain. If may extra budget, I suggest to buy Kini-ing (P250), a smoked cured pork meat. This is similar to Etag of Sagada but for me, the former is more flavorful and less salty. 3 balot ang binili namin at ndi kami nagsisi. Talagang masarap. I have been there 3 years ago for the first time and I had a blast. I enjoyed their food and the view. The mountains and the trees makes you feel like you are in the wild. 😜 When I went back there last month, there are some new paintings! I love the theme of the museum that time: mix of traditional and modern. I am not a big fan of sculptures but the ones over there made me think and rethink how I see things. 🤭 The atmosphere is cool and really diverse. 💪 It's foggy come 5pm but the view was still pretty good. The food was also delicious and cheaper compared to some resto. This museum has a lot to offer sand. Although, you might forget to take some pictures and just admire the beautiful work of art. There are sculptures, paintings, and other handcrafts that would totally blow your mind, and sometimes would leave a curious mind on what was going on inside the artist mind while making these pieces of art. #falladventures #travel #familytravel Apparently, there are 3 different “hotsprings” in Asin town: Sinot Hotspring, Palm Grove Hotsprings, and Asin Pooten Hostspring. They’re all near each other. There’s an apparent confusion as the photos in this section are a combination of Palm Grove and Asin Poote, so let me clarify them the best I can. Let’s start with Sinot. Our vehicle was blocked from entering the road (see photo), and it seems the place has been closed for quite some time. When we asked the locals (we were having lunch in the local eatery), they mentioned the ownership is being contested by the indigenous communities in the area, and thus, while it's being disputed, Sinot is entirely closed. There is a small-ish pool near the main road, devoid of any signs but packed with locals at P100 per entry, but it’s not a hot spring. No parking. Palm Grove is adjacent to the small-ish pool. While it’s much larger, has better maintained grounds, a huge parking area, and bigger pools, the water is not hot nor from a hot spring. Entry is 120 pesos per person. We went in to check and found the water cool to the touch. Asin Pooten is about 2-3 minutes away by car. The place is walkable, but the lack of sidewalks and the steep curving of the mountain make it dangerous, especially with the fast vehicles speeding along this road. The place is larger than Palm Springs - more pools and parking. The outdoor table is P200, and the cottage is P500 (which we took) on top of the entry fee of 150 each. It was packed with people when we visited. There are 3-4 big pools, but none are hot springs. The only one that’s “hot” is a small circular pool that can fit 10 people, and it’s dirty. You do not want to soak it all in. The warm water is continuously pumped into the pool by one hose that seems to be coming from somewhere. That’s it. The term “hotspring” is loosely adapted here. While the water may indeed be from a hot spring, the intensity of the heat is not enough to fill several swimming pools. The rest of the pools in the area are fed with normal saline stagnant water. God knows when it was last replaced. So here’s the summary: · Are these places really hot springs? No. · Is the water from a hot spring? For Asin Pooten, only 1 small pool. Others are normal water · Is it worth the trip? No It seems there’s a place called Asin Hotspring and the photos seem to be different. We didn’t go to that one, so any reviews would be great.
