This historic building was built in 1902 and is registered as a national tangible cultural property. It is located on a hill overlooking Misumi Nishi Port. It is currently used as a maritime technical college. When I visited, the school had just finished classes and there were no students, so I was only able to see a little bit of the interior near the entrance. I stopped by here when I went sightseeing in Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture. It's a lovely colonial-style building located right next to the World Heritage Site "Mitsumi Nishiko". It was originally an inn and restored in 1905. The building is used as a rest area, and there were two music events being held when I visited. Kumamon with his beard was very cute.
