No entry fee, no permit. I flew into Zurich, train to Sargans, LIEmobil bus 21 to Vaduz (25 min, €4.20 tap card), walked up at 7:30 a.m. in June. The lower vineyard is sunny; the mossy half is the 400 m of forest switchback above the vineyard edge where the Rhine fog sits until 8 and the castle wall goes green-black on its north face. During this free trip to Europe, on the way from Switzerland to Germany, I made a special visit to the capital of this small stamp country, #Vaduz. Liechtenstein is a small country with a small population. It takes less than 40 minutes to drive around it. The national population is less than 40,000, but it can get rich by issuing a large number of stamps and private banks. It is a famous tax haven, and its per capita income ranks among the top in the world. It is incredible! The capital, Vaduz, is probably the most lively place in Liechtenstein. From administrative agencies, castles, shops, restaurants to museums, all are concentrated in the main streets, making it convenient for tourists to stroll around and take in the sights in about an hour. Our trip mainly focused on visiting the Stamp Museum, which houses the first set of stamps issued by Liechtenstein in 1912, as well as stamps issued by hundreds of countries in the world. I recommend the **Buchserhof🏨** right next to the station. It's in a great location and even has single rooms—a dream for solo travelers😎 Take the train to Wasserauen. Once you get off, head straight out🚶‍♀️ to **Seealpsee** (the lake view in the mist is stunning🌫️), walk around the lake, and head back to the station → return to Buchs Once in Buchs, take bus 12 and transfer to bus 11 to Liechtenstein (Vaduz Post). Climb up to the castle observation deck for a bird's-eye view of this microstate, stroll down the main street, and take the bus back to Buchs🕹️ 🚩Day 2: Buchs → Saxer Lücke Early in the morning, take the bus from Buchs train station to Frümsen, Rathaus/Staubern (transfer from B797 to B411). Take the cable car up the mountain🚡 and start your hike. Walk to the Saxer Lücke observation deck, turn back, take the cable car down, and return to Buchs to catch the train back to Zurich. 🚆Transportation tips Trains/buses within Switzerland: Use the SBB app to check schedules and buy tickets—it's super convenient✌️ For buses to Liechtenstein, just tap your card when boarding💳 🕐Time reference · Walking from Wasserauen to Seealpsee, circling the lake, and walking back takes about 2.5 hours · It takes at least 15 minutes to walk from the bus stop in Frümsen to the cable car station · It takes about 1 hour to hike from the cable car station to the viewpoint, and another 30 minutes to reach Saxer Lücke · If you go down to Lake Falensee, add another 30 minutes.
