I became aware of this place through the “footprints” of Michael Douglas and was not disappointed. The harbour is almost magically beautiful and looks like time has stopped here. My tip: Don't forget diving goggles and swimwear! The water is crystal clear and ideal for relaxed fishing and other marine life. However, the departure to the port is challenging – safe and experienced driving is required here. I recommend arriving before 11 am at the latest, as there is practically no parking after that. A stay of 1–2 hours is good enough to enjoy the harbour in peace. You can also eat here – the lunch menu is fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. Total: A worthwhile detour! The Real Cartuja monastery is the big sight, and it’s worth checking out, especially if you’re into music or history since Chopin once stayed there. Nestled within the Tramuntana mountain range on the north coast of Mallorca, Valldemossa is a beautiful town that will whisk you away to another world. I felt like I had stepped into a bygone era, an epoch where modern technology doesn’t exist and village life is the be all and end all. Do you know what? I absolutely loved it. The honey coloured buildings contrasted perfectly with the lush greens of the mountains all around. Whilst the town is small, there were so many nooks and alleyways to be discovered when wandering the village, I could have spent all day there. There is also a lot of history contained within the walls of Valldemossa. Discover the rich Moorish and Medieval past that this town has enjoyed. But most of all, you can find out about Valldemossa’s most famous resident - Chopin. The Polish composer and pianist, spent a winter within this village with his French lover, George Sands.

It is said that he composed many songs here, including the Raindrop Prelude, Ballad No. 2, and Nocturne No. 11!! There is the Carthusian Monastery where Chopin stayed:)
