Malta 🇲🇹 | A Niche European Country You'll Fall in Love With
If you're looking for a niche country with fewer crowds and outstanding attractions, Malta is truly worth a visit! It truly lives up to its titles as "Europe's backyard" and the "Heart of the Mediterranean," boasting 4,000-year-old historical sites, jelly-like seas, and fairytale-like colorful streets! Many famous films and TV series have been shot here, such as "Gladiator," "Game of Thrones," and Mango TV's "Detective's Holiday"...
You can travel freely in Malta with a Schengen visa, and English communication is friendly. A solo trip experience is also very nice!
⭕️ Valletta: The capital of Malta
A city where every stone step gleams golden, and every window is colorful. The Upper Barrakka Gardens feature a cannon firing at noon, and there's also St. John's Co-Cathedral, Strait Street... A city full of artistic and retro charm.
You can spend a day here, then take a taxi to Mdina ↓
⭕️ Mdina: A filming location for "Game of Thrones"
Europe's best-preserved medieval golden city walls, St. Paul's Cathedral, the retro lamps of old houses, and exquisite wrought-iron balconies all feel like paintings brought to life. You can overlook the entire island of Malta from Café Fontanella, a terrace restaurant by the city walls.
▫️ It's about a 20-minute taxi ride from Valletta, and calling a taxi is convenient. You can explore it in about 2 hours.
🏨 Accommodation: The Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux
Located within a 17th-century palace in the ancient city of Mdina, it has a very Baroque style. The hotel is decorated entirely with antique furniture and paintings. On the first floor is the hotel's Michelin-starred restaurant, de Mondion, which serves dinner only; Trattoria AD1530 restaurant serves lunch and dinner.
▫️ We booked a two-night accommodation package for over 1,000 euros, which included airport transfers, breakfast and dinner, tickets to the Cathedral, Cathedral Museum, and Casa Gourgion. You can also directly contact the hotel for private tour guide services in Mdina (another package includes this), which is quite convenient.
