It’s a sunny bowl at 2,260m that stays cold enough for great snow but feels safe and contained. The progression from the Les Esserts nursery slope in town to the blue runs at La Chaux was seamless for our kids. They loved the 'slow zones' where they didn't have to worry about experts flying past. Plus, the Le Dahu restaurant at the base of the area is fantastic for a family hot chocolate break with a view. #skitrip Let's be honest: Verbier is eye-wateringly expensive. A round of drinks at the Farm Club can cost as much as a lift ticket. We managed to make it work by staying in Le Châble at the bottom of the mountain and taking the gondola up each morning—it’s significantly cheaper than staying in the main village. We also shopped at the Coop supermarket for lunch rather than eating €30 burgers on the mountain every day. If you’re smart, you can experience the world-class terrain, but 'sticker shock' is a real part of the Verbier experience if you aren't careful

#skitrip When the clouds rolled in and the top of Mont-Fort was a total whiteout, we headed across the valley to Bruson. It’s the best-kept secret in the 4 Vallées. Because 95% of the terrain is below the treeline, you actually have visibility when the rest of the mountain is 'socked in.' The tree skiing here is some of the best in Switzerland—tight, technical, and usually holding fresh powder days after the main resort has been tracked out. It has a much more 'local' feel and the lift lines are non-existent. It saved our trip during a three-day storm cycle

This was one of the best ski experiences. It is a massive ski resort known for its free-riding possibilities. It has all types of pistes ranging from long flat (but narrow) blues, to altenirary yellow routes which are basically marked off-pistes where your insurance works the same way it does on pistes. If you're learning how to ski, it's a pretty big step up from the "magic carpet slopes" because the easiest blue runs always have some red parts or red pistes cutting through them which might be dangerous on busy days. #skitrip #staycation #switzerland
