Château de Villandry, France
The Château de Villandry is a grand country house located in Villandry, in the département of Indre-et-Loire, France. It is especially known for its beautiful gardens. The Château de Villandry is open to the public and is one of the most visited châteaux in France. The gardens are laid out in formal patterns created with low box hedges. In 1934, Château de Villandry was designated a Monument historique. Like all the other châteaux of the Loire Valley, it is a World Heritage Site. 🇫🇷

Château de Villandry, located in the picturesque Loire Valley, is a magnificent testament to French Renaissance architecture and garden design. My visit to this enchanting château left me utterly captivated, and here are five things you must see when you visit:
Exquisite Gardens: The meticulously manicured gardens are the highlight of Villandry. Each garden, from the ornamental flower gardens to the vegetable and herb gardens, is a work of art. The vibrant colors and intricate patterns create a visual feast for nature enthusiasts.
Château Interiors: Explore the elegant interiors of the château, which are beautifully preserved and offer a glimpse into the life of the aristocracy. The ornate furnishings, intricate tapestries, and period-accurate décor transport you back in time.
Renaissance Architecture: Marvel at the stunning Renaissance architecture of the château, characterized by its graceful symmetry and elegant proportions. The intricate details of the façade and the charming turrets add to its allure.
Maze and Water Garden: Get lost in the enchanting maze, a playful addition to the gardens. Nearby, the serene water garden with its reflective ponds and soothing ambiance provides a tranquil escape.
Panoramic Views: Climb to the top of the château for panoramic views of the surrounding gardens and the Loire Valley. The sweeping vistas of the meticulously landscaped grounds and the distant countryside are simply breathtaking.

Villandry Castle was the last large castle built on the banks of the Loire during the Renaissance, but the most famous of these is the three-storey garden, which combines beauty, change and harmony.
The castle looks not very beautiful, but it is a typical French style, a bit like the Fontainebleau Palace. There is nothing special inside the castle. We, like most people, decisively only buy tickets for the garden.
It is worth mentioning that there is a Michelin two-star restaurant at the entrance of the castle. I want to try it with the agricultural products produced in the castle garden.
