We took a train from Virginia for my husband’s 50th birthday bucket list to see Brian Blade and the Fellowship at the Blue Note. Arriving at 1:00 pm, we were able to drop off our bags. We caught part of the Germany-Curaçao match at a nearby bar and checked in earlier than the usual 4 pm. Dana, Richard, Khalid, and a gentleman who helped with our bags (sorry, didn’t catch his name) were all incredibly helpful and kind. The room was clean and charming, offering stunning city views from the 19th floor.

It's a waterfront destination along the Potomac River featuring restaurants, shops, and the Capital Wheel, which offers a 360-degree view. The food is a little pricey, so we ate pizza before arriving to keep the trip budget-friendly. 💵🍕 That worked out perfectly, and we only grabbed drinks while enjoying the beach atmosphere. ⚠️ One thing to know if you're visiting on a Sunday: after 3:00 PM, the pool becomes adults only. We completely understand the policy, but the way it was communicated could have been friendlier. While we were gathering our belongings, one of the lifeguards told us rather abruptly that we needed to leave immediately. Thankfully, that was the only negative part of an otherwise wonderful visit. ❤️ Overall, we had a fantastic low-key family day exploring the historic fort, enjoying beautiful waterfront views, and relaxing by the beach and pool without spending a fortune.
