This time, however, we journeyed together to Shangguo Zhuang Village, located on the Tropic of Cancer, to experience the gentle power hidden in the ordinary scenes of this native Zhuang community. They either have mountain breezes and streams or ancient buildings shrouded in morning mist, and cost less than half of the popular spots. Here’s my private list—follow these 8 directions and avoid adding stress to your August trip. 01 Shenyang | Liaoning Shenyang’s summer is surprisingly dry and comfortable. Don’t rush to the crowded Forbidden City. At 5 or 6 AM, the stone paths in Beiling Park haven’t heated up yet, and locals are already jogging around the lake. ⏰ Arrive before 9 AM at the Wugou Jingguang Relic Pagoda. The tree shadows beneath the pagoda create cool, checkered patches on the open ground. If you’re lucky, you might see a monk sweeping fallen leaves—a scene more peaceful than any filter. At noon, hide out in the greenhouse at Shenyang Expo Garden. The air conditioning is strong, and you can see desert plants—cooling off without missing photo ops. 📍 Fewer visitors come to Beita Falun Temple in the afternoon.
