Surfers Paradise Jefferys Bay
#beachvacation
Jeffrey's Bay, less than an hour drive from Port Elizabeth towards the Garden Route, its a surfer’s haven on the Sunshine Coast in the Eastern Cape.
J Bay is more than just a surf town, it is welcoming and friendly to everyone looking to have a great time. Jeffreys Bay was once a port for coasters and received its name from the nineteenth century trader J.A. Jeffrey.
It is the world’s greatest right hand point break. Nothing can compare. When a deep south swell meets up with a 10-knot southwest wind and a medium to low tide, the result is perfection. A pure line of ocean energy that can be ridden for over a mile.
Jeffreys Bay’s wave season runs from June to August, but good waves can be had as early as April or as late as September. So don’t forget to bring your board, but remember that this is South Africa’s winter so pack a good wetsuit as well.
South Africa’s premier wave is at Supertubes, which for 10 days each July hosts the Surf Pro, a World Championship Tour event. At this time of the year the waves are an awesome Hawaiian size one-to-three meters high, placing them among the top ten swells anywhere on the planet.
Other surf spots in J’Bay include Tubes further down near The Point, Albatross, Boneyards, Magnatubes, Kitchen Window and Main Beach. Best of all, you don’t need to bring anything as there are a full range of surfing services from a surfing school to equipment hire and specialist shops.

This is Jeffreys Bay's main beach, and it's idyllic indeed.
Stretches of sandy white beach sand, surrounded by turquoise ocean waters.
Palm trees and lots of green lawns, compliments this idyllic beach.
The Shell Museum and Curios, an ideal place to find that perfect memento.

Addo Elephant National Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Self Drive Safari
When completing the garden route in Port Elizabeth, we decided that instead of making the long journey to Kruger National Park, we would keep our hire car for an extra day and self drive safari in Addo National Park. What a wonderful day we had! The park has The Big 5 as well as incredible birds, hundreds of zebra, leopard turtles, multiple antelope, hyena, and the list goes on.
The park opens from 7:30-17:00 was very reasonably priced and truly stunning.
Highly recommended 1🐆🐒🐗🦓🦌🦁🐘🦏🦅🐦🐢

One of the most memorable experiences we had in South Africa was when we visited Addo National Elephant Park. This park is the 3rd largest National park in South Africa. Although there are tour guides that can take you on the safari with their vehicles, we opted to drive through the game park by ourselves. Seeing so many different wildlife up close is truly a magical experience. Especially seeing the elephants, you truly feel a little bit more connected to nature. Addo was awesome, we’d go back there in a heart beat!#Addonationalelephantpark #localguides #southafrica #wildlife #Nationalparks #elephants

Pumba Private Game Reserve Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Traveling to South Africa, experience the luxury hotels in the wildlife reserves
What is the meaning of travel? It's actually quite simple. It's about seeing different natural landscapes and cultural customs in the limited time of life, enriching one's life. Every encounter during the trip is unforgettable and precious to me. Recalling my last trip to South Africa, the wonderful journey is still vivid in my mind.
The first night of the trip, we stayed at the Pumba Private Game Reserve Hotel located in Highlands, Grahamstown. For travelers who want to capture the charm of Grahamstown, Pumba Private Game Reserve Hotel is an ideal choice. It is about 48 kilometers from Port Alfred Airport.
The hotel, full of wild charm, is located within the 600-hectare Pumba Private Game Reserve. Although there are only a little over ten rooms, each is uniquely designed. Through the 180-degree glass doors and windows, the landscape of the camp is maximized into the room. The outdoor terrace also has an open-air small swimming pool and an outdoor shower. If you're lucky, you can interact with the animals while soaking in the pool, enjoying the wonderful experience of harmonious coexistence with animals.
Staying here, you can not only enjoy various wines and delicacies but also sign up for the 'wildlife safari' program to have a close encounter with the 'African Big Five'. The room rates are around 4000 RMB in the off-season and double during the peak season. Due to the limited number of rooms, advance reservation is required.
Address: South Africa, Grahamstown, Highlands
Front desk hours: Monday to Sunday 06:00-17:00
Check-in time: 13:30~14:30
Check-out time: 10:30~11:00
Kromrivier Farm Stays and Addo B & B Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
A weekend spent with friends in nature
Cape Town is beautiful, and it would not be what it is without the world famous Table Mountain, but people often forget that Table Mountain isn’t the only mountain we have to offer here in the Western Cape, infact, we have an entire mountain range just a few hours away, the Cedarberg Mountains.
A short while back I had the pleasure of going on a weekend camping trip to the Cedarberg with some friends. We stayed at Krommrivier farm and had a wonderful time. The stars at night were so bright and the nature around us was breathtaking. There is an abundance of hiking #camping #camping #cedarberg #nature #hiking #hikingtrails trails to choose from in the area, we did a beautiful hike to a secluded pool in the mountains. The water was cold as ice but it felt good after the 2 hour hike. There was also a great opportunity to do some rock jumping for the adrenaline junkies amongst us.
On our return to Krommrivier we went to the on sight restaurant to wind down. The hand cut fries were delicious and my chocolate milkshake was exactly what I needed after that long hike. We sat outside the restaurant, enjoying the scenery, reading our books and taking time to relax.
At the end of the weekend (though it was short), I felt rejuvenated and was left with some memories I would cherish forever. Making smores over the open fire, being brave enough to jump from a height that terrified me, and sharing meaningful moments with my friends, there’s just something that you find out there, out there in nature when it’s just you and your thoughts, perhaps a friend or two. I‘ll cherish those moments forever.
