After leaving Las Vegas, we visited the Hoover Dam, built in 1931, located on the border of Arizona and Nevada. It's the largest dam in the United States and also a filming location for the movie Transformers. The most interesting thing about the Hoover Dam is that it connects Arizona and Nevada, which have a one-hour time difference. Therefore, two towers, just a few steps apart, display the different times for each state. Each extra step adds an hour, although we tested it on-site and didn't see any difference. The time difference issue only occurred later, after leaving the Grand Canyon and arriving in Pige Page. This trip took us through California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and finally back to California. There are definitely time differences between states, and internet access is often unavailable in the US, so we only checked the time when we arrived at the hotel. 🤪 We arrived at the Grand Canyon in the evening hoping to see the sunset and sunrise the next morning, so we stayed near the Grand Canyon that night. Since the rest of the trip was within national parks, I was worried about food shortages, so I started preparing lunchboxes from that day on. Thanks to my easy-going travel companion, who kept praising my sandwiches! 😜 Accommodation: Grand Canyon Inn and Motel. A typical American country inn about half an hour's drive from the Grand Canyon. The rooms were large, the sink was outside the toilet, and the view was beautiful. #hooverdam #USRoadTrip

🏔️Day 6: Page → Grand Canyon South Rim It takes about 2.5 hours from Page to Williams. The town is quite large, with convenient dining and accommodation options, but it’s still an hour’s drive from the park entrance. Staying there clearly affects the itinerary: to catch the 6 AM sunrise, you have to leave by 5 AM, and to see the stars, you have to return even later. Next time, I would choose the closer Tusayan, only 10–20 minutes from the park, which would make the experience much better. Arrived at the Visitor Center around noon, then took the blue line shuttle to the Village for lunch. I went to the quite famous El Tovar and ordered elk meat sauce pasta, which turned out to be very average, similar to regular tomato pasta. They didn’t have their most famous lamb chops and venison chops for lunch, and overall the prices were on the higher side. By the afternoon, it was already past 2 PM, so hiking the long trail wasn’t very realistic. Instead, I took the red line shuttle for a casual stroll. The short trail from Monument Creek Vista to Pima Point is mostly covered by vegetation, so the canyon views are limited, but it’s easy to encounter deer. At one corner, I suddenly came across a dozen deer grazing, which was quite startling but also interesting. It was cloudy that day with no sunset, so I left before dark. 🏔️Day 7: Grand Canyon The next morning, I continued taking the red line shuttle to cover all the check-in spots. Lunch was at Yavapai Tavern in the Village. This time I ordered an elk sandwich, which was surprisingly delicious—large chunks of meat, juicy, well-seasoned, and the price was more reasonable than El Tovar. The table next to me ordered a huge plate of GCT Nachos, which looked very tasty, but I definitely couldn’t finish it alone, so I just admired it. After lunch, I returned to the Visitor Center and switched to the orange line to go to South Kaibab Trailhead. This trail runs north to south through the Grand Canyon but is only suitable for experienced hikers. Most visitors only hike to Ooh Aah Point or Cedar Ridge; going further requires more physical fitness and proper gear. South Kaibab is a downhill hike first and uphill on the way back. The easy descent will be doubled by the climb back, so be sure to bring enough water and energy supplies. Also, this trail is shared with mule teams, and the strong smell of mule droppings along the way is especially tough when you’re tired—I was almost nauseous on the return trip. The round trip from Trailhead to Cedar Ridge takes about 3 hours. After finishing, you can walk directly to Yaki Point to watch the sunset—it’s just one stop away—or wait for the shuttle. The shuttle runs every 10–15 minutes, with the last one about an hour after sunset, so there’s no need to worry about getting back to the Visitor Center.

Nature is everything! We took a road trip and traveled about 6hrs to this national park. We had to be mindful for any animals and the waterfalls. Trail was easy to follow and weather was amazing when we were here. We traveled with 2 kids so i’d say great trail to visit. Make sure you bring hydration for any national parks and the necessary hiking accessories. Best trip ever.

The distance from the Grand Canyon to Williams is about 97 km, and there is one round trip train to the Grand Canyon per day. A round trip train to the Grand Canyon seems like a fun trip. Williams is a little bigger than Seligman, a post town on the same Route 66 that was the model for Cars. It retains the good old American retro atmosphere, and there are souvenir shops selling lots of Route 66 goods and an American diner. Having been to the second largest canyon in the world in Kazakhstan, this time I finally fulfilled my dream of the largest canyon in the world - the Grand Canyon National Park in Colorado! 🗓Itinerary: I entered at three o'clock in the afternoon on the first day and brushed the eastern half; I entered the second day and brushed the western half for the second time. The second entry is to watch when the light is better. 📝Note tips: At the entrance of the scenic spot, the ticket checker will ask you if you want a map. There are English and Chinese maps available; pay attention to the operating time of the bus inside, some routes such as the orange and blue lines operate at different times each year, which affects whether you can drive in. National parks do not allow drones! 🧳Preparation before departure: I personally feel a bit panting when I go in, a bit of a small altitude, bring a thermos cup; of course, a ticket for an annual card of 80 dollars can be used by a car of people. 👍Most recommended: I think the western half is the best for taking big scenes, it's best at noon or before sunset, there is not too much safety protection, everyone has to be responsible for their own safety!
