Xianfeng travel guide and discussion

🌿 Enshi in June is a summer retreat kissed by God. Seriously! Escaping from a 35℃ city, the moment I stepped into Enshi, I was completely enveloped by the 22℃ mountain breeze! There's no scorching heat of midsummer here, only the refreshing wind sweeping through the canyons, the coolness from splashing waterfalls, and lush greenery everywhere. Coming to Enshi for a summer escape in June was truly the best decision I've made this year! ✨ Why you absolutely must visit Enshi in June? Perfect Temperatures: The city averages 28℃, but head into the mountains and it drops directly to 18-22℃! Especially in the Grand Canyon scenic area, it's 8-10℃ cooler than the city. Walking through the Yunlong Ground Fissure, the cool air rises from your feet – it's like a natural air-conditioned room, no fan needed. Fewer Crowds, Beautiful Scenery: Avoid the peak season of July-August. Visit now and you won't have to queue or jostle with crowds; you can take photos however you like! Waterfall High-Flow Season: June brings abundant rainfall, so all waterfalls are at their best viewing period. The sheer volume of water is stunning; standing beneath a waterfall, the mist hits your face, chilling you to the bone! 📍 Three-Day, Two-Night Refreshing & Active Itinerary (Personally Tested, No Pitfalls) Day 1: Arrive in Enshi → Tujia Daughter City Take the high-speed train directly to Enshi Station, then a 15-minute taxi ride to Daughter City. It's recommended to go after 4 PM to avoid the midday sun. · Explore the Xilankapu Brocade Workshop and watch intangible cultural heritage inheritors hand-weave. · Catch the Baishou Dance performance promptly at 4:00 PM; tourists can also join in. · Must-eats: Pan-fried potatoes, Oil Tea Soup, Tujia Cured Pork, Hezha. · At 7:00 PM, enjoy the bonfire party, singing and dancing around the fire – the atmosphere is incredible. Day 2: In-depth Tour of Enshi Grand Canyon (Key Highlight!) Key point: Be sure to get up early! Depart at 7 AM to avoid the crowds! · Yunlong Ground Fissure: The first must-visit stop! Walk along the valley floor, with towering cliffs on both sides, a sliver of sky above, and a babbling stream below. There are seven or eight waterfalls along the way, with surprises every few steps. The most stunning is the "Five-Colored Yellow Dragon Waterfall," where sunlight creates a rainbow – truly breathtakingly beautiful! · Qixingzhai (Seven Star Village): Take the cable car up the mountain and check off landmarks like "A Pillar of Incense," "Twin Towers," and "Welcoming Pine." It's recommended to walk the "Cliffside Plank Road"; though it might be a bit scary for those with a fear of heights, the scenery is absolutely worth it! Standing on the plank road, with a rolling sea of clouds below and strange peaks and rocks before your eyes, it feels like being in a fantasy world. · Practical Tips: Wear non-slip athletic shoes, bring a light jacket (it's really cool in the mountains), and bring an empty bottle to collect and drink mountain spring water – it's super sweet! Day 3: Tenglong Cave → Return Journey This cave is ridiculously huge! It could fit an entire mountain! The moment you step inside, a wave of coolness washes over you, instantly transporting you from summer to autumn. · The cave maintains a constant temperature of 14-18℃, so be sure to bring a jacket! · Watch the large-scale Tujia situational song and dance performance "Yishui Lichuan," which is very impressive. · Experience the laser show, watching the play of light and shadow in the massive cave – an absolutely amazing experience. 🍜 Enshi Must-Eat Food List 1. Tujia Hezha: Enshi people's "home-style dish," delicate and smooth, perfect with rice. 2. Pan-fried Potatoes: Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, sprinkled with chili powder – you can't stop at just one. 3. Cured Pork Hock Hotpot: Enshi's cured pork is incredibly fragrant, stewed until soft and flavorful. 4. Oil Tea Soup: A Tujia specialty, savory and delicious, refreshing and cuts through richness. 5. Shefan: Only available around Qingming Festival, glutinous rice mixed with mugwort and cured pork, fragrant to the bone. 💡 Summer Escape & Pitfall Avoidance Guide ❌ Do not drive up the mountain yourself! In June, mountain fog is heavy, and there are many winding roads, making it easy for new drivers to get carsick or have accidents. ❌ Do not buy local specialties at the scenic area entrance; they are expensive and not authentic. ❌ Do not trust "low-price tours" solicited by roadside touts; they are full of tricks. ✅ It's recommended to charter a car or carpool; drivers are familiar with the routes and can recommend lesser-known spots. ✅ Bring motion sickness medication; the mountain roads are indeed very winding. ✅ Carry a folding umbrella; there might be occasional afternoon showers, but they usually stop after half an hour, and you can even see a sea of clouds after the rain! Enshi in June is truly the ultimate summer escape. The mountain breeze, waterfalls, sea of clouds, and delicious food – everything is unforgettable. During my three days here, I completely forgot the scorching heat of the city, remembering only the refreshing mountain air and the starry night sky. If you're looking for a cool place to hide away this summer, Enshi will definitely not disappoint. · -- Accommodation 🏨 Twelve Villas Mountain View Resort B&B Cliffside infinity pool + private hot spring, 270° panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows to lie down and watch the sea of clouds and sunrise, 24-hour butler service, only a 10-minute drive from the Grand Canyon. 🏨 Meet Enshi · Yichuan Forest Tranquil Woods Designer Landscape Hotel (Grand Canyon Branch) A benchmark for luxury designer B&Bs, a hidden retreat surrounded by forests, each room has an independent viewing terrace, with the magnificent canyon scenery right outside your window. 🏨 Shanhe · Jiyue Wild Luxury B&B (Xuan'en Chunmuying Branch) A high-altitude summer resort at 1680 meters, star-gazing tents + forest cabins, garden afternoon tea + camping experience, an excellent spot for stargazing at night. 🏨 Yaojia · Wangcheng Resort Hotel (Enshi Xianfeng Branch) Located in the core area of Wangchengpo Country Park, outdoor infinity pool + Chinese restaurant, surrounded by mountains for strong privacy, suitable for family vacations. · --

Zunyi, Guizhou: Hailongtun Tusi Site📍 We took a little detour while retracing the Long March, and today we went to "storm" the Hailongtun Tusi Fortress🏯 The Hailongtun Tusi Fortress is located in Zunyi, Guizhou. Together with the Laosicheng Tusi Site in Yongshun, Hunan, and the Tangya Tusi Site in Enshi, Hubei, it was successfully inscribed as a World Heritage site under the name "Tusi Sites of China," becoming China's 48th World Heritage site! We visited the two Tusi sites in Yongshun and Enshi last year, and passing through Zunyi this time, we finally completed the set of all three!✌️ 🏰 A hardcore historical background! The Yang family of Bozhou Tusi ruled the region for over 700 years, from the Tang Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty, following a survival strategy of "bowing to whoever sits on the throne." It wasn't until the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty that conflicts between the last Tusi, Yang Yinglong, and the imperial court intensified. Emperor Wanli ordered a campaign to suppress them—but the Ming army was defeated again and again! The Bozhou army relied on this very military fortress—Hailongtun! ⚔️ How hard is it to attack Hailongtun? The nine passes are connected by defensive walls and built along steep cliffs, making it easy to defend and hard to attack. In 1600, Emperor Wanli mobilized an army of 240,000, determined to wipe out Bozhou. This was the "Campaign to Pacify Bozhou," the largest of the "Three Great Campaigns of the Wanli Era"! The last Tusi relied on the natural defenses to resist stubbornly for a full 114 days🔥 🧗‍♀️ Experience the difficulty of storming the fortress firsthand Today's Hailongtun no longer bears the scars of the bloody battles of the past, but standing beneath Feihu Pass and climbing the steep 36-step ladder yourself, where you need to use both hands and feet to go up and down, you can truly feel how difficult it was for the Ming army to storm the fortress! Every step makes you marvel—ancient warfare was just too hardcore😱 🌦️ Hailongtun on a rainy day We visited on a rainy day, and the clouds and mist added a touch of solemn atmosphere. The wooden structures under the stone bridge, the lush green mountains in the distance, and the ruins hidden in the woods—every shot looks like a blockbuster photo📸 Photo spot recommendations: The bluestone road with the old city wall, the top-down view of the sky ladder, and the junction of the stone bridge and wooden structures are all super photogenic!

🍃 "Keeping summer in Tianmu Bay" Some places are for rushing through; Tianmu Bay is for daydreaming. Deep in the primeval forest of Pingbaying, a stream cuts the mountain in two. Dozens of waterfalls hang from the cliffs like white silk draped by a careless hand. Moss blankets the stones, ancient tree roots reach into the water, and time seems to slow down here. I crossed the stream on a log bridge. It swayed slightly, and the sound of water roared beneath my feet. Looking up, sunlight filtered through the canopy, shattering into patches of light that danced in the mist—in that moment, I suddenly understood that the meaning of travel isn't about how much scenery you see, but whether there is a moment, If you know, you know! Tianmu Bay is so beautiful it leaves you speechless! Girls! I have to highly recommend Tianmu Bay in Xianfeng! 🔥 A hidden treasure trove of waterfalls in the Pingbaying forest, and it's free! Free! Free! Important things must be said three times! Dozens of waterfalls cascade down the cliffs, and the mist hitting your face is super refreshing. The temperature feels like it drops by 10 degrees—it's basically a natural air-conditioned room in the summer! The best part is the log bridges! They span the stream, and they sway when you walk across—thrilling and fun. Every photo looks like a scene from "The Wizard of Oz," and a nine-grid post on social media isn't enough to share them all! After playing until my legs were tired, I returned to the Super 8 Hotel near Enshi Railway Station. The room was clean and the bed was soft. I fell asleep the moment I lay down, and the next day I was fully recharged and ready to go again! 📍 Navigate to "Xianfeng Tianmu Bay" to get there directly; admission is free 🥾 Remember to wear non-slip shoes; the bridge surfaces are slippery 📷 There are tons of photo spots for the waterfalls; a wide-angle lens is the best

🌿 At 7 AM, Enshi is still soaked in a light tea mist, and the wind, carrying the sweet scent of mountain osmanthus, brushes against my sleeves—off I go, catching the first bus of the morning to Xianfeng 🚌 🛣️ The winding mountain road looks like a silver ribbon wrapped around the green hills. Outside the window, the green deepens from a pale shade to a rich emerald. The scent of corn porridge wafts from passing farmhouses, making everything feel like it's slowing down. When the cool mist from the mountain wall hits your face, you know you've arrived at Zhuzuankong 🥾 💧 Ducking into the karst cave, polished smooth by millions of years of flowing water, stalactites hang with crystal-clear droplets, their dripping sounds echoing in the empty valley. Cold mist drifts over the underground river, and as you step on the slippery bluestone, even your breath feels infused with the mountain's spirit~ The cave maintains a constant temperature year-round, making it super cool in the summer ❄️ ⛰️ Climbing up the trail, turning a corner, you suddenly stumble into a panoramic mountain view—karst peaks hiding their edges in the clouds. The wind blows through the canyon, sweeping away all fatigue. A little girl I met on the road spread her arms to embrace the waterfall; it was the most vivid footnote to nature. 🌄 Hanging around until the sun brushes against the mountain peaks as it sets, I head back in the afterglow. The sky outside the window shifts from orange-pink to deep purple. I've been completely healed by nature all day long~ Spend the day indulging in the mountains and waters, exploring the secret wild of Xianfeng. Spend the night settled in the bustling city, enjoying a relaxing and healing sleep. This is the most beautiful way to take a short trip ✨ 🏨 When I got back to the Super 8 Hotel (Enshi Railway Station Airport Branch), my shoes were still covered in grass clippings from the Xianfeng mountains! This hotel is super convenient, located in the North District of Wanfu Trade City at Enshi Railway Station 📍 It's close to the railway station and bus station, with a bus stop right outside, making it incredibly easy to get to attractions and shopping districts~ The rooms are spacious with new facilities, and the front desk service is responsive. I heard they even serve late-night porridge 🍲 After a day of walking, coming back to a bowl of hot porridge is pure happiness! 🌙 Today's little adventure of trekking through mountains and exploring caves has come to a perfect end~ I'll definitely be back to unlock more of Enshi's hidden treasures next time!

This route follows the "Canyon – Forest – Qingjiang" order, which saves more energy than going back and forth: prioritize the scenic highlights of Enshi Grand Canyon in the first leg, then head into Pingbaying to see the autumn forest, and finish with a Qingjiang river cruise. For a compressed 3-day trip, combine Pingbaying and Qingjiang into one full day; for a more relaxed pace, allow 4 days. Check the weather before setting your departure date between September and November. Enshi's mountainous areas are cool in the mornings and evenings, and visibility in the canyons and forests can change significantly with fog or rain, so non-slip shoes, a light jacket, and rain gear are practical. Cable car operations, shuttle arrangements, and temporary restrictions are subject to the scenic area's announcements before departure and on the day of. If the weather is bad, avoid scheduling long walks for that day. Start in Enshi city or near Enshi Station for better public transport connections. Day 1: Head to Enshi Grand Canyon. Upon arrival, prioritize the viewing platforms, canyon vistas, and the cable car section, leaving continuous downhill paths and long boardwalks as optional. Couples and friends can stop at more viewpoints, while families with children should focus on "canyon views + minimal walking" rather than pushing to complete the full loop. Day 2: Travel from Enshi Grand Canyon to Pingbaying, which is best suited for self-driving or pre-arranged scenic/public transport shuttle combinations. Don't leave the mountain transit too late; staying near Pingbaying is more convenient. Schedule only a gentle forest trail for the afternoon. If it's rainy or foggy, switch to forest sightseeing and resting. Autumn scenery is about layers, not racking up steps. The focus of the Pingbaying experience is the forest autumn colors, not challenging your mileage. September is more about fresh greenery, while October–November gradually brings yellow, orange, and red foliage, though the exact state depends on temperatures—check recent conditions before you leave. Wooden boardwalks, forest clearings, and short-distance viewpoints are enough for half a day. For families, taking time to stop, find leaves, and listen to birds is more comfortable than rushing between multiple spots. Day 3: Travel from Pingbaying to Qingjiang, with a boat cruise or riverside sightseeing in the afternoon. Day 4: Return to Enshi from Qingjiang. This Qingjiang segment offers a water-level view of the canyon, replacing the mountain scenery of the previous 2 days with open water, making it a perfect low-intensity finale. Boat schedules, pier arrangements, and autumn-themed activities may change based on dates or weather. Confirm information for the day before booking, and don't rely on fixed schedules mentioned in promotional materials. You can do this without driving: break the "Enshi city/Enshi Station – Enshi Grand Canyon – Pingbaying – Qingjiang" route into 3 transfers, leaving a buffer for each. Public transport is better suited for a simplified 3-day version; try to stay near the next day's starting point. If driving, keep your luggage in the car, but be aware of winding mountain roads—avoid driving at night and keep only 1 core experience on transit days. Here's how to manage your energy: keep the core Enshi Grand Canyon views, a forest trail in Pingbaying, and the Qingjiang cruise. You can cut out repetitive viewpoints, long-distance hikes, and side trips added just for photo ops. Couples and friends should schedule photo time for early morning or evening, while families should prioritize flat paths, restrooms, and rest stops. This route is best for groups willing to adapt to mountain weather but who want to avoid continuous high-intensity hiking. If it rains continuously, swap long canyon walks for short sightseeing, and confirm the Qingjiang cruise status on the day. Treat autumn activities as a bonus, not a requirement that locks in your itinerary. Returning to Enshi city on the last night will make your departure more relaxed.

On September 1, the 2026 National Harmonious Rural Basketball Tournament ("Village BA") Central Division event kicked off in Minzhu Village, Gusong Town, Xingwen County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province. 24 teams and over 280 farmer-players from 11 provinces (autonomous regions/municipalities)—including Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, Hubei, Chongqing, Sichuan, Tibet, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, and Ningxia—are participating. The National "Village BA" consistently adheres to the principle of putting farmers at the center and rural areas as the main stage, allowing farmers to be participants, organizers, and promoters, and to share the fruits of integrated agricultural, cultural, sports, and tourism development. Relying on its karst landscapes and Miao culture, Xingwen County has built a diverse industrial system integrating cultural tourism, hot spring wellness, rural sports events, and educational tours. Leveraging the traffic from the National "Village BA," Xingwen is actively promoting sports events and cultural tourism activities to expand consumption, improve industrial quality, drive employment and income growth for farmers, and contribute to comprehensive rural revitalization. Following the Central Division tournament, the National "Village BA" will hold the Southern Division tournament in Shanglin County, Nanning City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in mid-October, and the National Finals in Xianfeng County, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province, in late October. It is organized by the Sichuan Farmers' Sports Association, the Yibin Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Xingwen County People's Government, with technical support from the Chinese Basketball Association.

Driving west from downtown Enshi, green mountains lined the road like screens, with clouds wrapping around the hillsides as if guiding our way. We arrived at the Huangjindong Scenic Area in Xianfeng County just as the rain cleared. The air was filled with the fresh scent of grass and earth—a deep breath felt like a total cleanse. Huangjindong, meaning "Golden Cave," isn't named for mineral deposits, but for the wonders carved by hundreds of millions of years of geological movement. The cave entrance is like the open mouth of a giant beast, swallowing a deep, dark underground river. We took a boat into the cave. The oars parted the dark green water, sending ripples across the surface that reflected the stalactites on the ceiling like an inverted galaxy. The temperature dropped sharply inside, bringing a refreshing coolness. The sound of water trickled, and occasionally, water droplets fell from high above, echoing in the vast cave hall like the steady heartbeat of the earth. The rafting section was even more incredible—the rubber raft drifted downstream, sometimes passing through narrow rock crevices, and sometimes opening up into wide spaces. Above us were massive domes, with stalactites cascading down like waterfalls, glowing with a soft light under the illumination. The current wasn't too rapid, but it was full of surprises. One section even went directly through a cave, with light flickering on and off, as if traveling through a time tunnel. The experience was truly magical. After going ashore, there were two shallow water areas for playing in the water. The water was crystal clear, and the coolness spread from our feet to our whole body, washing away the summer heat. In the evening, music drifted through the scenic area, and stage lights turned on. Unfortunately, because we were staying in downtown Enshi and were worried about navigating the roads at night, we couldn't stay to enjoy the concert. It left a little regret, but also a reason to return. In the evening, we checked into the Super 8 Hotel in downtown Enshi. It was clean and comfortable, with the lights of Enshi visible outside the window. This day, from the underground river at the heart of the earth to the warmth of city life, from the geological wonders of millions of years to the convenience of the modern city, Enshi's landscape always has a magic that makes people want to come back again and again. 📍Xianfeng · Huangjindong Scenic Area 🏨 Enshi · Super 8 Hotel

Some pictures taken on the train from Zhangjiajie to Chongqing, specifically around these tiny towns called Sangzhi, Longshan and Xianfeng. I would be extremely surprised if a foreigner had been these parts and I would love to know what they saw. The nature here appears to be quite unspoiled, with extremely dense amount of forests and plenty of valleys filled with emerald water, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some hidden tourist attractions that had been developed. Honestly a lot of these train rides should be classified as tourist attractions in and of themselves. #NO-AI

Many people only focus on the Grand Canyon in Enshi but miss the hidden gem of Xianfeng County—the pristine Pingbaying National Forest Park! A 3-hour high-speed train ride from Wuhan gets you there. Step on the gas and escape into a natural air-conditioned room covered by 96% forest. Explore caves, ride forest cable cars, splash in waterfalls, and stay overnight in treehouses—all in one place. Perfect for family outings, summer escapes, and fresh air, it guarantees a cool summer 🌿 · -- 🍃 A relaxed 3-day, 2-night itinerary you can copy directly! 🌳 Day 1: First forest experience + treehouse stay Arrive at the park in the afternoon and check in at Forest Yard Hotel or Treehouse Inn—standalone wooden cabins hidden in the woods, with windows opening to the primeval forest. Kids get so excited they shout, “Mom, we’re living in a fairy tale!” In the evening, stroll through the Tujia village in Pingbaying town, watching smoke curl from chimneys and terraced fields stacked layer upon layer. The only sounds are the wind and birds. · -- 🌲 Day 2: 30°N cable car + primeval forest hike Here comes the highlight! Take the unique V-shaped sightseeing cable car in southwest Hubei, 800 meters one way with a 450-meter elevation difference. The cable car glides over the sea of trees, with endless primeval forest beneath—ancient trees, thick vines, and dense moss layers. Every frame looks like a documentary screenshot. Hike the circular forest trail on the mountaintop for about 1–1.5 hours. The entire path is shaded, and the high concentration of negative ions makes your lungs feel like they’re getting a spa treatment. Remember to bring a jacket! It’s only 16–18℃ up there in July, cold enough for a light cotton jacket. · -- 💦 Day 3: Sidongxia geological adventure + return trip A favorite spot for kids! This natural cave group formed 140 million years ago features four giant natural bridges connected end to end. The first half of the boardwalk is flat and easy, with clear streams and small waterfalls along the way. Kids can splash in the water, catch little fish, and look for moss, like playing a real-life “forest treasure hunt.” The main event is passing through four natural caves in a row—the caves maintain a constant temperature of about 20℃. Waterfalls flow through the caves, underground rivers intersect, and beams of light shine through skylights, opening a door to another world. Who else gets this kind of thrill? · -- 📝 Family tips · 📍 Location: Pingbaying National Forest Park, Xianfeng County, Enshi · 🚗 Transport: Direct shuttle bus from Enshi station (check with your guesthouse). Driving takes about 2.5 hours via highway + county roads · 💰 Cost: Admission 90 yuan per person (free with annual tourist card). Shuttle bus + cable car 90 yuan per person · 🏨 Accommodation: Highly recommend treehouses or Forest Yard Hotel inside the park! Around 500 yuan per room in peak season. Staying two nights is worth it · 🎒 Must bring: Waterproof shoes, light jacket (mornings and evenings are cool), rain gear, insect repellent, snacks and water (few supplies in the park) · ⏰ Hours: Park open 8:30 AM–4:00 PM. Don’t arrive too late! Check the last shuttle bus time carefully · -- Final thoughts Pingbaying isn’t a “trendy check-in spot.” It’s a hidden primeval forest secret at 30°N latitude, where kids can splash in streams, ride cable cars above the clouds, and count stars from treehouses. With a natural 22℃ air conditioner, flat trails that aren’t tiring, and so few people you can have the place to yourself—this kind of cool, healing relaxation can’t be bought in the city. While summer is hot, the streams are cool, and before school starts, just go for it! 🌲✨

Escape the 42℃ streets of Wuhan and floor the gas pedal into Enshi Pingbaying, where the thermometer drops from triple digits to double digits, and the temperature feels like a whole new world. The wind sweeps through thousands of acres of primeval forest, with so many negative oxygen ions that every breath feels like your lungs are being cleansed. There are no crowds at trendy photo spots here, only towering ancient trees, deep valleys, treehouse cabins hanging from the canopy, and morning light emerging from the sea of clouds—a real-life “fairy-tale world” looks just like this.🌲 🌲 How magical is this 22℃ secret spot? Pingbaying is located in Xianfeng County, Enshi, on the mysterious 30°N latitude line. It has a forest coverage rate of 96% and is home to the largest primeval forest cluster in Hubei Province. The average summer temperature is 19–22℃, nearly 20℃ cooler than hot cities like Wuhan and Chongqing. In July 2024, Pingbaying was the only representative from Hubei Province to be included on the national “Solar Term Scenic Spots” list and was honored as one of the first 37 national-level “summer resort destinations.” Simply put—it’s officially certified cool. Even more impressive is the concentration of negative oxygen ions here, ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 per cubic centimeter, hundreds of times higher than in cities. After a visit, you’ll feel like you’ve been rebooted. 📍30°N latitude (Jigong Mountain) | Lightness skill on treetops Highlights: · Asia’s longest V-shaped cable car, with two-person cabins gliding over a sea of fir trees and a hundred-meter green wave beneath your feet🌲 · 30°N observation tower, climb up to see the cloud tide lifting the mountains into floating islands☁️ · Forest suspension bridge + wooden boardwalk, walking through morning mist feels like stepping into a sword sect’s back mountain🪶 · Forest theater offers Tujia hand-waving dance during the day, quiet and peaceful How to play: Take the scenic shuttle from the visitor center → 30°N entrance → cable car up the mountain → tower + suspension bridge + trail loop → cable car down. Ladies!! July in the city is melting hot, so I just took off to a place with a steady 19℃ temperature, feeling like a natural air-conditioned room set to max❄️ No exaggeration, I stayed there for three days and came back feeling unbelievably refreshed, with my skin glowing (no filter, thank you) 🗺️ itinerary overview|three days and two nights planned out clearly Day 1 → head straight to the core area of the primeval forest upon arrival, hike through Chuandong Gorge in the afternoon Day 2 → take the cable car to the summit for sunrise and sea of clouds in the morning, glass walkway + creek play in the afternoon Day 3 → half-day tour of Tusi ancient city, return in the afternoon 🚗 travel tips|latest 2026 update I chose to drive myself. From Enshi city center, it’s about 2 hours total. The mountain roads have many curves but are in great condition. A new asphalt section was paved in 2026, making it much easier to drive than in previous years⚠️ Key point: fill up your tank before departure! Gas stations are far apart along the way. If you’re not driving, don’t worry—Enshi bus station runs direct buses daily at 8:00 AM and 2:30 PM, costing 50 CNY one way. The trip takes about 2 hours and goes straight to the scenic area visitor center. You can also take a bus from Enshi bus station to Xianfeng county (35 CNY per person, 1.5 hours), then transfer to a shuttle bus (20 CNY per person, 40 minutes) for more flexibility. Inside the scenic area, rely entirely on the shuttle bus, which costs 30 CNY per person and is mandatory. The winding mountain road is about 10 km one way, and the ride takes around 15 minutes. The drivers are very skilled👍 🎫 ticket guide|save money here ▫️ Chuandong Gorge ticket: 90 CNY ▫️ shuttle bus: 30 CNY (mandatory, no entry to core area without it) ▫️ cable car round trip at 30° north latitude: 60 CNY ▫️ combo tickets: Chuandong Gorge + shuttle bus = 120 CNY|Chuandong Gorge + cable car round trip + shuttle bus = 180 CNY 💡 personal tip: buy the full 180 CNY combo ticket! The cable car experience is amazing—the longest mini cable car in Asia. Two people sit in an open chair crossing the primeval forest canopy, with a sea of dark green trees below. When I posted videos, I was asked 800 times “Where is this?”📸 Open 8:30 AM–4:00 PM. Ticket sales stop at 4:00 PM, so don’t arrive too late! I recommend being among the first to enter at 8:30 AM. Fewer people, beautiful scenery, no lines. Children under 6 or under 1.2 meters tall enter free. Seniors over 60 and full-time undergrad students or below get discounted tickets. Remember to bring ID. 🌲 core highlights breakdown “30° north latitude Jigongshan cable car section”—my top pick!! The moment I got on the cable car, I said “wow.” On both sides are dense primeval forests with vines and moss, like stepping into Jurassic Park. At the summit, there’s a circular wooden walkway that takes about 1 hour to complete. It’s flat and easy, perfect for elders and kids. From the viewing platform, overlooking the vast forest sea, a breeze wrapped me in 19℃ coolness. At that moment, all my overtime work felt worth it😭 “Chuandong cave cluster”—speechless from the awe This is a sinkhole cave cluster formed 140 million years ago. A gorge cuts through four mountain bodies, creating four huge natural caves with different shapes. Inside, looking up reveals domes dozens of meters high. Sunlight streams through the cave openings, creating god rays that fill the atmosphere with magic✨ The creek at the bottom is crystal clear, and the mist from waterfalls cools the air by another 3 degrees! Must-visit “Muxian Cave”—a natural giant cave entrance with a jade-green pool. Standing there for photos needs no editing; the original shot looks like a scene from a fantasy drama. “88-meter glass walkway”—not for the faint of heart A transparent walkway suspended above the gorge, with a bottomless green valley below. Your legs might get weak walking on it😂 But if you’re not afraid of heights, the experience is thrilling, with stunning aerial views of the gorge. Separate ticket 30 CNY. Decide based on your courage. 🌙 how to spend the night At night, I recommend staying in a wooden cabin in the forest, designed like a Tujia stilt house. Open the window to towering ancient trees, and you’ll likely wake up to birdsong (no alarm needed). At 1,300+ meters elevation, you’ll definitely need a blanket at night. Don’t be fooled by “July”—the temperature really stays in the teens🥶 If you’re lucky with clear skies, the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye at night—no light pollution in this primeval forest. The stars are so dense it looks like someone scattered crushed diamonds. I stood on the terrace looking up for almost an hour until my neck hurt. ⚠️ practical tips summary ① Mountain weather changes quickly. Bring a light jacket + raincoat in July (more useful than an umbrella) ② Cell signal is spotty inside the scenic area. Download offline maps in advance ③ Lots of hiking. Wear non-slip sneakers. Flip-flops or sandals will make you miserable ④ Bring a power bank! Running out of phone battery from taking photos is common ⑤ The forest restaurant serves Tujia bamboo rice and cured meats for lunch, about 40–60 CNY per person, surprisingly tasty The three-day itinerary is relaxed and balanced, with time to play and rest. Don’t steam yourself in the city this summer—the 19℃ forest retreat is really waiting for you🫶

First group: Tujia original ecological ancient villages (cultural slow travel, no commercial crowds) 1. Erguanzhai (Xuan’en) Reasons for being off the beaten path A 600-year-old Tujia ancient village. It’s not near the Grand Canyon or the popular Pingshan route, so very few tour groups visit. It fully preserves century-old stilted buildings, an ancient oil press, and a wind and rain bridge. Built along a clear creek, the shallow water is perfect for wading. Travel tips 1. Route: 1-hour self-drive from Enshi city, all on cement roads, free parking; 2. Must-do: catch small fish in the shallow creek, visit the century-old wooden oil press, cool off on the wind and rain bridge, eat local river fish and cured meat with fern cakes at a Tujia farmhouse; 3. Duration: 2–3 hours, suitable for elders and children, completely flat with no climbing; 4. Tips: stay overnight in village homestays, local villagers sing mountain songs at dusk, no forced spending. 2. Maliuxi (Xianfeng) Reasons for being off the beaten path A Qiang and Tujia mixed ancient village hidden deep in tea mountains. It features contiguous century-old stilted buildings coexisting with thousands of acres of tea gardens. Very few tourists visit. A creek runs through the entire village, and the original ecological tea gardens are untouched by visitors. Travel tips 1. Route: 40-minute drive from Erguanzhai. Both villages can be visited in one day; 2. Must-do: hike the terraced tea gardens, stroll along the creekside stone paths, experience hand-picking tea, drink local selenium-rich tea; 3. Duration: 2 hours. The backlit tea mountains at dusk make for stunning photos; 4. Tips: buy homemade tea and fermented tofu from local farmhouses, prices are very low.

Girls, I’m losing it!! Just got back from Enshi Pingbaying, haven’t even unpacked my suitcase yet, but I had to come up and write. Why is this place so underrated?? It’s clearly Hubei’s own "Little Switzerland"! ⸻ 📌 Trip overview (3 days 2 nights, pure essentials) Departure → Enshi → Xianfeng Pingbaying town Cost per person: about 1,200–1,500 (including accommodation + admission tickets + food and drinks + shared fuel) Suitable for: those wanting to escape the heat / shoot forest-style photos / family trips with kids / needing mental healing ⸻ 🚙 Transportation | Don’t be scared off by the word "remote" Driving from Enshi, it takes less than 2.5 hours on the highway + county roads. I went in early July, there were few cars on the road, and both sides of Provincial Road 249 are lined with tall Chinese cedar and rhododendron bushes—a truly stunning scenic route. 🅿️ Parking: The scenic area visitor center has a large free outdoor parking lot. If not driving— → Take a bus from Enshi bus station to Xianfeng (35 CNY, about 1.5 hours) → Taxi from Xianfeng to the scenic area (100–150 CNY) → Or take the scenic area shuttle bus (50 CNY per person, two trips daily: 8:00 AM / 2:30 PM) ⸻ 🏠 Accommodation | I stayed in a fairytale standalone cabin ⛰️ The guesthouse is inside Pingbaying village scenic area, just a few minutes by shuttle from the visitor center. Rows of European-style standalone wooden cabins are hidden in forest clearings, with wooden exteriors and pointed roofs—perfect for photos, it feels like you’ve stepped into a Nordic forest. ⛰️ Each cabin has its own balcony and bathroom, and when you open the door, it’s the forest right there. I chose a southeast-facing room and was woken up by birdsong at 5:30 AM (really woke me up). Pulling back the curtains, I saw morning mist flowing through the treetops, and golden light slowly spreading across the forest sea—this scene will stay with me forever. ⛰️ The cabins are spaced far apart for maximum privacy. At night, I set up a small table on the balcony, brewed some local eagle tea, and zoned out listening to the wind in the trees. No TV, no city noise, just pure relaxation. Prices in July peak season are around 500 CNY per room, off-season about 300 CNY. I recommend staying at least two nights—one night isn’t enough to soak it all in. ⸻ 🗺️ 3 days 2 nights itinerary breakdown ☀️ Day 1 | Arrival + Sitong Gorge Arrive in the afternoon, check in, rest a bit, then head straight to Sitong Gorge. Admission 90 CNY + shuttle 30 CNY. Sitong Gorge is the main attraction, a natural cluster of caves formed about 140 million years ago, with four giant natural bridges connected end to end. Walking through the canyon, towering stone walls rise on both sides, a stream babbles underfoot, and there’s even an underground river and waterfall section that’s chilling enough to make you shiver. ⚡ Don’t miss the glass walkway (30 CNY), suspended above the canyon with a 100-meter drop and emerald water below. ⏰ The whole trip takes 3–4 hours, moderate exercise level, wear long pants + sneakers. ⸻ ☁️ Day 2 | 30°N primeval forest + cable car This day is the highlight of the whole trip. Round-trip cable car 60 CNY. This is a rare V-shaped sightseeing cable car in southwest Hubei, 800 meters one way, with a 450-meter elevation difference. Riding the cable car over the forest sea, you see endless primeval forest below—ancient trees, thick vines, dense moss—every frame looks like a documentary screenshot. At the top, walk the forest trail loop for about 1–1.5 hours. The trail is well maintained and not tiring. Along the way, you’ll pass the Rhododendron Queen (a giant rhododendron tree), Fairy Tower, and Immortal Spring. The forest coverage is truly 96%, and the negative ion concentration made me feel like my lungs were getting a spa treatment. ⚠️ The temperature at the top is several degrees cooler than below, only 16–18°C in July, so bring a jacket! In the afternoon, rest back at the cabin, then take a stroll nearby at dusk. Pingbaying town is a quiet Tujia village where you can see cooking smoke and terraced fields. ⸻ 🌅 Day 3 | Morning mist + return trip No rush on the last day. Get up around 5 AM to watch the morning mist fill the valley, with treetops poking through the fog like an ink painting. This scene can only be seen by staying inside the scenic area; day-trippers miss out completely. After breakfast, pack up slowly and check out. Depart before noon for the return trip. ⸻ 💡 Hard-earned tips ✦ It’s really cold in the mountains in July, around 22°C during the day, but mornings and evenings can drop below 15°C. A windbreaker or light cotton jacket is a must. ✦ Bring rain gear! Mountain weather changes fast, and rain can come suddenly. ✦ The scenic area is open 8:30 AM–4:00 PM. Don’t plan to enter at 3 or 4 PM—you won’t have time to see everything. ✦ Buy tickets online in advance to save waiting in line. Real-name ID check is required for entry. ✦ Some parts of the Sitong Gorge trail are slippery, avoid heels or sandals. ✦ Bring enough snacks and water; there are few supply points inside the scenic area. ✦ Cell signal is spotty; download offline maps beforehand. ✦ If driving, the mountain roads have many curves but are in good condition. Control your speed, and beginners should enter the mountains during daylight. ⸻ 🫶 Random thoughts It’s been a week since I got back, and I still miss the air there. Breathing car exhaust every day in the city, only at Pingbaying did I realize what it means to "earn every breath." This isn’t a check-in style trip; it’s a place that truly lets you slow down and find peace. If you’re also about to lose it from the July heat and work stress, come here to hide for a couple of days—it’s more refreshing than applying ten face masks.

🌲 July in Wuhan was unbearably hot, so I escaped to the 22°C forest of Pingbaying in Enshi. Honestly, I was completely stunned when I got out of the car—the perceived temperature difference was so huge it felt like I had traveled through two seasons. 📍 Location: Pingbaying Town, Xianfeng County, Enshi, Hubei Province, a green haven on the 30° North latitude line. ⸻ 🚗 First, let me tell you how to get there. Driving is the best option, based on my own experience. From Enshi city, it's about a 1.5-hour drive on the highway, then another 40 minutes on county roads after exiting the highway. The road conditions were much better than I expected. The Pingbaying section of Provincial Highway 249 winds up the mountain, with many curves but a wide road surface, so even novice drivers can drive slowly without any problems. ⚠️ Important reminder: Fill up your tank before you leave! There are no gas stations in the mountains. If you're not driving, there are buses from Enshi Bus Station to Xianfeng (35 RMB/person, 1.5 hours). From Xianfeng, transfer to the Pingbaying special line (20 RMB/person, 40 minutes). Alternatively, you can take the scenic area shuttle bus for 50 RMB/person, departing twice daily at 8:00 AM and 2:30 PM, with a journey time of about 2 hours. ⸻ 🏡 Where to stay? I slept in the treetops! ⛰️The guesthouse is located inside the Pingbaying Scenic Area. Navigate to the visitor center and walk a few hundred meters; a whole cluster of wooden stilted houses is scattered among towering ancient trees, looking like houses growing out of the tree trunks. ⛰️The treehouse villas are all-wood structures, with balconies suspended in the treetops. Opening the window reveals a dense, primeval forest canopy—everything is green as far as the eye can see. In the evening, sitting on the rattan chair on the balcony, the mountain breeze carrying the scent of pine resin makes any air conditioning seem insignificant. ⛰️There's absolutely no light pollution at night, and on a clear night, you can see the Milky Way. I went out to stargaze at 2 AM wrapped in a blanket; it was so quiet I could only hear my own heartbeat and the sound of a distant stream. Rooms are around 300-500+ RMB. Remember to book in advance during the peak season in July; I almost missed out two weeks ahead. ⸻ 🎫 Tickets & Itinerary Review The scenic area entrance fee is 90 RMB (including Sidongxia and Jigongshan). The shuttle bus is 30 RMB – a must-buy, as the two attractions are far apart, and walking isn't practical. The cable car is 60 RMB round trip – highly recommended! Otherwise, hiking alone will be exhausting. ✅ Day 1 Recommended Itinerary: Morning → Take the cable car up Jigongshan (800m one way, 450m elevation difference between the upper and lower stations). The cable car's journey through the forest is breathtaking; below you are rolling green waves, and the swirling mist makes it feel like a scene from a fantasy film. At the summit, there's an observation tower offering panoramic views of the entire western Hubei forest. Then, hike along the forest trail, which takes about 1-1.5 hours. There aren't many steps, making it manageable for elderly people and children. Afternoon → Sidongxia (Four Caves Gorge). This is truly breathtaking! A cluster of caves formed 140 million years ago, connected by four natural stone arch bridges, creating a seamless blend of mountains, water, caves, and waterfalls. ⚠️ There's a glass walkway in Sidongxia (30 RMB). Those not afraid of heights should definitely try it; the deep valley stream flows right below you, making for amazing photos. The entire Sidongxia hike takes about 3-4 hours. Wearing non-slip sneakers is recommended, as some sections can be slippery due to splashing water. ⸻ 🌧️ July Weather Tips Don't be fooled by the outside temperature of 35°C+; the highest temperature in the mountains is only 22°C year-round. There's a significant temperature difference between day and night. I wore short sleeves and a sun-protective shirt during the day and a light down jacket at night (no joke). Rain can come suddenly in the mountains, so bring an umbrella or disposable raincoat. The best time to view the scenery is after the rain – mist rises from the valley floor, making the entire forest seem magical. ⸻ 🎒 Useful Tips ① The scenic area opens at 8:30 AM and stops selling tickets at 4:00 PM, so don't go too late. ② Tickets are issued with your real name; bring your ID card. ③ The concentration of negative oxygen ions is extremely high; those with rhinitis will feel it particularly strongly, as it makes breathing easier. ④ Cell phone signal may drop in some sections, so download an offline map beforehand. ⑤ There are no supply points along the forest trails, so bring enough water and snacks. ⑥ Bring mosquito repellent spray; although there aren't many mosquitoes at the high altitude, there can still be some in the evening. ⸻ 💭 A final thought from the heart Spending too much time in the city really makes you forget what peace and quiet feels like. During my two days at Pingbaying, there were no takeout options, no neon lights, just endless greenery and the ever-present mountain breeze. If you're looking for a place to "disappear" for a couple of days in July, this place is more worthwhile than any trendy B&B.

You might even spot squirrels jumping between branches. Have an authentic Tujia smoked meat lunch in the forest at noon, then relax by the stream in the afternoon, listening to the babbling water and watching the shifting light, leaving all worries behind. 💡 Travel tips: avoid pitfalls · Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Although it’s cool, the highland UV rays are strong. To avoid sunburn, bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat! · Bring a light jacket: temperature differences between morning and night are big, especially after rain when it can drop to around 15℃. Don’t catch a cold! · Leave no trace: don’t let plastic bottles pollute this green wild. I was waiting for a ride-hailing car on the 42-degree streets of Wuhan, and after the driver accepted the order, he sent me a message saying, "Are you sure you want to go out now?" Yes, I am sure. Because my next stop is Enshi. The average summer temperature is 22 degrees, and these six words are the strongest advertisement for Enshi. But Enshi is not a place that can be summarized by a single attraction; it is a line connecting several completely different landforms and experiences. I'll break it down for you by temperature zones. 🌡️ First stop: Dixin Valley (Feels like 18℃) Dixin Valley is located in Gaoping Town, Jianshi County. It takes only 20 minutes by high-speed train from Enshi to Gaoping Station, then a 10-minute taxi ride to the scenic area. In 2026, the ticket package including admission, glass bridge, and elevator is 170 RMB per person. The most impressive feature of this scenic area is the canyon glass bridge, suspended 300 meters high across the canyon, with a deep green pool beneath your feet. It's normal to have shaky legs when crossing. The bridge surface has a cracked effect, and when you step on it, it makes a "crack" sound. A guy in front of me immediately squatted down. The bottom of the canyon never sees direct sunlight, and the temperature is about 18 to 19 degrees Celsius. The whole walk takes about two hours on a flat plank road, and after finishing, it feels like a natural spa. 🌡️ Second stop: Pingbaying (Feels like 20℃) Pingbaying is in Xianfeng County, about a 2-hour drive from Enshi city center. In 2026, the ticket price is 130 RMB, covering both the Four Caves Gorge and Jigong Mountain areas. The wildest feature here is the forest treehouse hotel — all-wood villas built on towering ancient trees, modeled after the Tujia stilted houses, living in the tree canopy with dense primeval forest outside the window. You wake up to birdsong, not an alarm clock. The Four Caves Gorge area has four natural caves, the largest being 80 meters high and 50 meters wide. Standing at the bottom looking up, light pours in from the cave entrance like opening a door to another world. The negative ion concentration here is hundreds of times that of the city. After a two-hour walk, you feel like your lungs have been cleansed. Last time I was in Pingbaying, my phone signal was lost all day, and I realized it was the most relaxed day I’ve had this year. 🌡️ Third stop: Enshi Grand Canyon (Feels like 23℃) The Grand Canyon is Enshi’s flagship attraction. In 2026, the peak season ticket including cable car and elevator is about 280 RMB per person. I recommend at least a full day here. The Qixingzhai area is the highlight, with a 4-5 hour hike. The core attraction is "One Incense Stick" — a 150-meter-high stone pillar standing alone in the canyon, wider at the top and narrower at the bottom. The wind makes it seem like it might fall, but it has stood for thousands of years. Standing on the viewing platform and watching it for a long time is strangely moving. Yunlong Rift is another route, walking along the plank road at the canyon bottom, with cliffs on both sides rising straight up, leaving only a narrow strip of sky overhead. Waterfalls fall from the cliff tops inside the rift, and the mist cools your face. The cable car one-way ride costs 105 RMB. If your stamina is average, I suggest taking it up and walking down to save half your energy. 🌡️ Fourth stop: Daqing River Scenic Area (Feels like 25℃) Take a boat ride on the Qingjiang Gallery, which takes about 4 hours. In 2026, the boat ticket plus admission is 200 RMB per person. On both sides are karst peak clusters reflected in the emerald river. The boat stops at Butterfly Cliff and Reflection Gorge for photo opportunities. This experience is more leisurely, perfect for a recovery day after a tiring day at the Grand Canyon. On the boat, you can enjoy the river breeze and Qingjiang dried fish snacks, watching the mountains and water while zoning out, no physical effort required. 📋 Suggested itinerary Day 1: Arrive in Enshi → Dixin Valley → Stay in Enshi city Day 2: Grand Canyon day tour → Stay near the Grand Canyon Day 3: Pingbaying → Stay at Pingbaying Forest Hotel Day 4: Qingjiang Gallery → Return trip 📋 Estimated costs (2 people / 4 days 3 nights) Transportation (car rental for 4 days): about 1200 RMB Tickets + cable car + boat package: about 1600 RMB Meals: about 800 RMB Total about 3600 RMB (excluding accommodation) Accommodation 🏨 Xianfeng Pingbaying Forest Treehouse Hotel All-wood villas hanging in the ancient tree canopy, truly living inside the forest, not beside it. Open the window to a sea of primeval forest, with only insect sounds and starlight at night. The pinnacle of wild luxury experience. 🏨 Yutang Muyun Homestay (Dixin Valley, Jianshi, Enshi) A wild luxury castle at the foot of Dixin Valley, with 15 rooms and large common spaces including a pool, campsite, KTV, and gym. Free shuttle service from Gaoping Station, just 10 minutes from the high-speed train. 🏨 Qingshan Bishui Resort Hotel (Enshi Grand Canyon Visitor Center) 800 meters from the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, so no rush to enter the park early the next day. Rooms have mountain-view balconies, and breakfast includes Tujia specialties like Hezha and Ciba. 🏨 Enshi Grand Canyon Mufu Nianshan Zhifan Mountain Wild Homestay Located in the Changlinggang mountain area, opening the window reveals the canyon outline. So quiet you only hear the wind, perfect for those wanting to completely disconnect from city signals.

Family, I have to recommend a place that 99% of people don’t know about 🗺️ Lichuan, Hubei! Nestled between the two major heat zones of Wuhan and Chongqing, the average summer temperature here is only 22°C! You actually need a blanket to sleep at night❗️ Plus, it has Asia’s largest cave, the largest alpine meadow in the south, and the winding Qingjiang River... I spent three days here and it wasn’t nearly enough, and now I can’t stop bragging about it to everyone 😤 🕳️ Tenglong Cave — I was completely blown away Let’s start with Tenglong Cave, because it’s Lichuan’s crown jewel attraction. It’s the largest cave in Asia, with an entrance 72 meters high and 64 meters wide. What does that mean? You could literally fly a helicopter right inside — that’s how breathtaking it is❗️ Walking inside, the dome is so high you can’t see the end, with countless stalactites in all shapes and forms. The park uses colorful lights to create various light and shadow effects, making you feel like you’re exploring the center of the earth. The best part is the constant temperature inside the cave is 14°C! Outside it’s a scorching 37-38°C, but as soon as you enter, a cool breeze rushes in, giving you goosebumps instantly. That temperature difference is incredibly refreshing 🥶 📌 The walk inside takes about 3-4 hours, wear non-slip shoes as some areas are slippery. 📌 Bring a jacket! 14 degrees is no joke, it really gets cold if you stay inside for a while. 🎭 Don’t miss the laser show inside the cave There’s a large-scale cave laser show inside Tenglong Cave, using the natural cave as a stage. Sound, light, and electricity turn the stalactites, stalagmites, and stone pillars into performance props. I thought it would be some cheap effect, but it completely exceeded my expectations — lasers create a swirling galaxy effect on the 72-meter-high dome, combined with bass booming in the enclosed cave, you feel surrounded by sound waves and light, like floating inside the universe 🌌 The show has fixed times, so check the schedule after entering and plan your route accordingly. 🏞️ Qingjiang Ancient Riverbed light hike is so healing If Tenglong Cave is awe-inspiring, then Qingjiang Ancient Riverbed is soothing. This is a dry riverbed carved by the Qingjiang River over millions of years, now turned into a natural hiking trail. On both sides are sheer cliffs like they were sliced by a knife, underfoot are giant rocks shaped by water erosion, and occasionally small pools form where streams seep through cracks. Walking here feels like filming an adventure movie — in fact, many movies have been shot here. The trail is easy, a light hike, but some sections require stepping on stones to jump across, so non-slip shoes are a must ⚠️ 🛶 Dragon Boat Water Town — drifting into a paradise on a boat Dragon Boat Water Town is near Lichuan city. You can take a boat drifting slowly along a Qingjiang tributary, with stilt houses, waterwheels, rice fields, and distant mountains on both sides. Tujia women sing Dragon Boat songs on the shore, making time feel like it’s moving at half speed. The water is crystal clear, you can see the underwater plants swaying with the current. The trip takes about 1-2 hours. If you’re not in a hurry, sit at a small stall by the shore, eat a bowl of cold noodles, watch the boats come and go, and just relax 🫧 🗺️ How to plan a 3-day Lichuan itinerary Day 1: Arrive in Lichuan → afternoon at Tenglong Cave (reserve 3-4 hours) → dinner in Lichuan city with Tujia cuisine Day 2: Morning hike at Qingjiang Ancient Riverbed → afternoon rafting at Fobao Mountain Gorge (super refreshing!) Day 3: Day trip to Sumadang/Qiyue Mountain alpine meadow → return trip 💡 Lichuan transportation and climate tips 🚄 High-speed rail directly to Lichuan Station, about 2 hours from Chongqing, 4 hours from Wuhan 🚗 Accessible via Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway, convenient for self-driving 🌡️ Summer average temperature 22°C, about 15°C at night, light jacket + long pants are essential 🏠 Lichuan has over 2,600 guesthouses, long stays for summer cooling can be as low as 2,400 RMB/month 📱 There’s a mini-program called "AI Tour Lichuan" that can plan your trip all in one place, quite handy Accommodation 🏨 Enshi Grand Canyon Daughter Village Resort Hotel A secret canyon hotel about 2 hours from Lichuan, built in Tujia stilt house style on the mountainside. All 239 rooms have balconies with views of Qixingzhai’s sea of clouds and canyon wonders. 🏨 Enshi Aoshang Pullman Hotel An international brand high-end hotel in Enshi city, blending Tujia culture with modern design. Facilities include a pool and gym, perfect as a base for your Lichuan trip. 🏨 Enshi Grand Canyon Maoershan Resort Hotel A resort hotel nestled on the canyon hillside, surrounded by primeval forest.
