Yaguhuan, an ancient pass name, is located within the territory of Xiaohulun Tun in Sandaoguan Village, Weiziyu Town, Xinbin Manchu Autonomous County, Liaoning Province, China. In Manchu language, "Yargu" (Yargu) is translated into Chinese as "Bald Eagle", commonly known as the mountain eagle. It describes the pass as being as strategically important as a raptor, the mountain eagle, overlooking from above. The pass is divided into three sections, now known as Sandaoguan. Each of the three passes is about a li apart from each other, mostly built of earth and stone. Located on the west bank of the Tuohelun River, it was an extremely important strategic passageway between Liaodong and the Jurchen region of Jianzhou during the Ming Dynasty. It was occupied by the Later Jin during the Battle of Sarhu in the forty-sixth year of the Wanli era (1618), and the site of the pass still exists today. Geographical Location Yaguhuan is located within the territory of Xiaohulun Tun in Sandaoguan Village, Weiziyu Town, southwest of Xinbin Manchu Autonomous County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. Yaguhuan is also known as "Shizhuzi". It was an important pass of the Ming Dynasty's Liaodong Wall. Construction Time Yaguhuan was built in the fourth year of the Chenghua era (1468) by Han Bin, the deputy commander of Liaoyang, to restrict the entry and exit of the Jurchen people of Jianzhou and to prevent Korean envoys from spying on the realities of Liaodong. The pass was fortified with three barriers, hence it was also called "Sandaoguan". Forty kilometers northeast of the pass is the city of Hetu Ala; thirty-five kilometers south of the pass is Qinghebao, an important town in Liaodong. Its geographical location is extremely important, and it has always been a strategic military chokepoint. The three passes are each a li apart. The first pass is located 0.5 kilometers south of Sandaoguan Village, Weiziyu Township, Xinbin County. The city walls extend to the ridges on both sides, with existing ruins standing 3 meters high and a base about 7 meters wide, constructed with squared stones on the outside and rammed earth on the inside. The second pass is set in a valley between two opposing cliffs, with stone barriers. The third pass is located next to a huge rock that rises abruptly from the ground, with this stone pillar being about 30 meters high.
