According to legend, a long time ago, Xinfeng was hit by a huge disaster. Floods were rampant, and the people were in dire straits. At this time, an immortal passed by and was moved by the suffering of the people. He used his magic to build a tall pavilion to suppress the flood and protect the people. This pavilion is now Xinfeng Pavilion.
When you come to Xinfeng, you can see Xinfeng Pavilion from a distance. It is magnificent and spectacular, like a mirage, it seems to float in the sky.
Navigate to the Gushan Scenic Area parking lot, show your ID card, locals can enter for free, and non-locals need to pay CNY 25. You can take a sightseeing bus for CNY 6 and go up along the Gushan Mountains.
When you reach the top of the mountain, you will see the "Ren Xin Wu Feng" Pavilion towering into the clouds. The red pillars and gray tiles complement each other, and the flying eaves and brackets are full of ancient charm. Walking around the pavilion, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Xinfeng County, with a wide and shocking view. Going up, there is another pavilion called "Rao Gu Duo Li", which echoes "Ren Xin Wu Feng". The two pavilions are Xinfeng Pavilion. Dasheng Temple Pagoda in Xinfeng, Jiangxi Province.
Dasheng Temple Pagoda was first built during the Chiwu period of the Three Kingdoms (238 AD), rebuilt during the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty (627 AD), destroyed in the late Tang Dynasty, and rebuilt in the first year of the Zhiping period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1064 AD). Dasheng Temple Pagoda is located north of Taojiang River. It is a pavilion-style pagoda of the Song Dynasty, with a brick and wood structure, six sides, nine stories, and eighteen levels, and an equilateral hexagonal plane. The pagoda hall is divided into bright and dark levels, with six doors on each level, three real doors, and three fake doors. The pagoda has a caisson and paintings, with a Buddha niche and a Buddha statue. The pagoda body is made of blue bricks with yellow mud joints. The pagoda body is composed of eaves, flat seats, and pot doors. The flat seats have railings forming a corridor. Visitors can enter the pot door along the corridor and climb to the top floor. Dasheng Temple Pagoda is "the highest in the sky, unparalleled in the province." The pagoda is 66.45 meters high, the highest Song Dynasty pagoda south of the Yangtze River. It was listed as the first batch of cultural relics protection units in Jiangxi Province in 1957 and the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units in 2006. Dasheng Temple Pagoda has been repaired in successive dynasties. The first and second floors were repaired in 1955. From 1984 to the end of 1990, it took seven years and more than 800,000 yuan to repair the pagoda, hoist the pagoda, and install lightning protection facilities. Dasheng Temple Pagoda was opened to tourists in 1991. In 2005, Xinfeng Finance allocated more than 700,000 yuan to restore the large eaves corridor according to the construction method of the Song Dynasty, restoring the original appearance of Dasheng Temple Pagoda. From 2016 to 2017, more than 2 million yuan of national key cultural relics protection funds were obtained to comprehensively repair Dasheng Temple Pagoda.
Mao Zedong's Former Residence in Xinwuli, Xinfeng, Jiangxi Province.
Mao Zedong's Former Residence in Xinwuli covers an area of 700 square meters. It was built in the Qing Dynasty and was originally a private residence of the Ye family. It is a Hakka walled house with two halls and two horizontal houses. The horizontal house is extended and connected to the front courtyard wall. The courtyard gate is a concave archway with red sandstone door frames and stone pillows. The archway is made of brick carvings with exquisite carvings of patterns such as vases and Tai Chi. After the Shuikou Battle in Nanxiong, Mao Zedong led the army back to the Central Soviet Area and came to Xinfeng in mid-July 1932. He lived and rested here for half a month. Three air-raid shelters were dug at the foot of the hillside in the backyard. It was later listed as a revolutionary site in the former Central Soviet Area such as southern Jiangxi. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Jiangxi Province.
Nanshan Ancient Temple in Tongyi Village, Xinfeng, Jiangxi Province.
Nanshan Ancient Temple was first built in the late Tang Dynasty and collapsed due to years of disrepair. During the Jiajing period, the temple was restored by eminent monks such as Hongzhi, Huiguang, and Puzhao. The temple faces south, with a brick and wood structure, a hanging mountain roof, eaves decoration, three bays, a horizontal house on each side, a width of 44.7 meters, a depth of 26 meters, a height of 6.5 meters, and a total area of 1,162.2 square meters. The stone door frame, the wooden plaque on the door reads "Nanshan Ancient Temple," and the couplet on both sides of the door reads "The mountain passes on the ancestor of Zen Buddhism, and the Buddha rides on the horse," and "The six paths of the Southern Tang Dynasty spread the Dharma and realized the Tathagata." The temple has one well and two halls, with wing rooms on both sides. The front hall is the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the middle of the back hall is the Mahavira Hall, the left is the Nine Emperor Hall, the right is the Guanyin Hall, and there is a patio on each side of the wing rooms. Nanshan Temple has a long history and is magnificent. It is rare in Xinfeng County and has certain reference value for the study of Buddhist history in the local area. It is a key cultural relic unit in Xinfeng County.
Xinfeng County Museum, Jiangxi Province.
Xinfeng County Museum was established in April 1991. In 2022, the original Xinfeng County Ganyuebian Three-Year Guerrilla War Memorial Hall was transferred and integrated into Xinfeng County Museum. The new museum was relocated from Santa Plaza to Cultural Park in September 2023, retaining the sign of Xinfeng County Ganyuebian Three-Year Guerrilla War Memorial Hall.
The new museum covers an area of 9,100 square meters, including an exhibition area of 6,000 square meters, with three main exhibition halls: "Bravely Breaking Through the Siege and Going on an Expedition - Historical Exhibition of the Central Red Army's Long March Breaking Through the First Blockade Line", "Youshan Beacon Fire Casting Monument - Historical Exhibition of the Three-Year Guerrilla War on the Border of Jiangxi and Guangdong", and "Millennium Ancient City, Hakka Cradle - Ancient History and Culture Exhibition of Xinfeng County Museum".
Xinfeng County Museum currently has a total of nearly 3,000 pieces/sets of collections, including 160 pieces/sets of precious cultural relics, including 11 pieces/sets of second-class cultural relics and 149 pieces/sets of third-class cultural relics. The visit takes about 40 minutes.

Xinfeng County, under the jurisdiction of Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the middle part of Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, on the middle reaches of the Taojiang River, a tributary of the Gongshui River, covering an area of 2,878 square kilometers.
Xinfeng County was established in the first year of Yongchun of the Tang Dynasty (AD 682), with its name meaning 'people are trustworthy and things are abundant because of trustworthiness'. Xinfeng County is a famous historical and cultural city in Jiangxi, one of the 21 all-red counties of the original Central Soviet Area, the location where the Red Army broke through the first blockade line during the Long March, and the core area of the three-year guerrilla warfare in the south; it has the national key cultural relics protection unit 'The First Song Dynasty Pagoda in South of the Yangtze River'—the Dasheng Temple Pagoda. In March 2019, it was listed in the first batch of revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization areas.
