Xingwen Sea of Rocks Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
The Xingwen Stone Sea is a world geological park that preserves carbonate strata from various eras dating back 490 to 250 million years ago
It has been selected by National Geographic China as one of the 'Top 100 Most Beautiful Scenic Spots' for photography.
Driving from Changning County, a day's itinerary mainly includes visiting the three wonders of the scenic area: the surface stone sea, the sinkhole, and the Tianquan Cave, so I purchased a package ticket—admission + tour bus + boat ticket (a total of 115 yuan per person, the tour bus goes back and forth, you can get on and off at any time).
The surface stone sea, also known as the surging waves of stones, is a limestone formation that has been tested by nature over the years, resulting in this stone sea that looks like a flock of sheep climbing a mountain. Remember to take photos here before buying a ticket to enter the park, especially on cloudy days to get the best effect.
Husband and Wife Peaks: After buying the ticket, take the tour bus directly, which saves a lot of energy in the hot summer. The two standing peaks resemble a man and a woman, with a stone in the middle like their marriage certificate, leaning on each other, lifelike. We, who rarely take photos together, also left behind a standard tourist photo.
Bo Wang Fort: The second stop of the tour bus brings you here, where the buildings are made of natural stones. There is a famous attraction here, the hanging coffins of the Bo people on the cliffs. In ancient times, when productivity was backward, it is incredible to think about how these were placed up there. As lunchtime approached, we ate at a local farmhouse here, with farmhouse smoked meat + bamboo fungus and chicken soup, reasonably priced. If you miss this place in the entire scenic area, the only other option is to buy snacks in the caves.
The sinkhole: Commonly known as the giant funnel, it is currently the largest funnel-shaped sinkhole in the world. The grandeur of it cannot be fully captured by a phone camera; it must be seen with your own eyes.
Tianquan Cave: Walking along the steps and admiring the view, when the sun is shining brightly, you come to the third wonder of the stone sea. The cave is an excellent summer retreat. A small opening at the top of the huge cave lets sunlight stream through, and combined with the rainwater accumulated from the previous rainy days, it creates a wonderful visual experience of cascading light and water, with stones on both sides resembling tortoises facing Buddha. Going deeper, there are various stone columns, stone peaks, stone drapes... in thousands of charming forms. Under the colorful lights, you continue forward on a boat, feeling a bit like going through dangerous caves in a tomb-raiding novel. After the boat docks, it's the back exit of the cave, which usually leads out to the county town.
The actual scenery is far more stunning than what photos can convey. No matter how high the resolution, how clever the composition, or how good the technology, it cannot convey the shock of nature's masterful creation.
My Moments have been bombarded with questions, it's not Zhouzhuang, it's Yibin in Sichuan
Really such a hidden gem!
Before coming to Yibin, I had no idea it held so many surprises. Apart from the aroma of liquor wafting through the streets and alleys,
I also discovered an off-the-beaten-path ancient town here. The Lizhuang Ancient Town, built along the river, gives one the feeling of being in the south of the Yangtze River,
with its whitewashed walls and black tiles, old streets and lanes, each scene is picturesque, full of charm. Strolling around with friends for half a day, it feels like the pace of life has slowed down.
Besides the ancient town,
Yibin also has the incredibly stunning Xingwen Shihai Park, with its bizarrely shaped rocks, it's like arriving on an alien planet, and taking photos for social media is super photogenic!

Lizhuang Tourist Resort Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Navigate to the Moon Field Scenic Area in Lizhuang Ancient Town for parking spots available!
★Recommended scenic route↓Suggested visiting time: 1~2 days
Upon arriving at the entrance of the Moon Field Scenic Area, you can first admire the lotus flowers and black swans. About 100m down towards the river, turn left and you will see a toy of the same style on the right and a convenience store on the left. Continue walking to the 'Flowers Under the Moon' restaurant, where you can see the full view of the Moon Field Scenic Area and the black swans. Do not cross the bridge when admiring the lotus flowers!! Keep walking to the Yan Yu Bookstore to see the lotus flowers (be careful not to get too close to the water). After viewing the lotus, you can cross the bridge into a sea of sunflowers.
Further towards the river, you can enter the scenic area for check-in photos, dining, clothing, trinkets, and boat tours, all available inside. After touring the Moon Field Scenic Area, you can head east along the river to find Dongyue Temple, which houses the anti-war history of Lizhuang Ancient Town. Continuing east, you can visit the Baihe Window at Zhang Family Ancestral Hall.!!I won't tell you that Lizhuang's most famous Bai Rou is located in the direction of Zhang Family Ancestral Hall at 'He San Bai Rou Di Yi Dao', nor will I tell you that for Huang Ba you should go to the first shop in the ancient town, Yang Huang Ba, and I certainly won't tell you to buy peanuts from He Lao Yao's store, nor will I say that the white cakes are all similar. For a more famous option, you can go to 'Hua Xiu Ming Gao' where the taste won't differ much. After enjoying these specialties, we can go see the Jiulong Stele in Huiguang Temple.
After you have visited Huiguang Temple and other streets in Lizhuang Ancient Town, you can stay to watch the night view. As night falls, you can see the real moon under the bridge, with the lights reflecting on the water surface forming a semicircular moon.
Night view time: 20:00-22:00 (Monday to Friday)
April in Lizhuang
April in Lizhuang, the breeze carries the length of willow threads, time is permeated with the fragrance of roses, playing with the moon's clear waves, as bright as eyes, riverside benches, sipping on sunlight on one side, and listening to the distance on the other, the eastern fence is dyed with new green against the wall, the stone path is heavily adorned with red makeup. Ascending the tower to embrace the moon, gazing at the cassia tree in the distance, overlooking Lizhuang, a wave of spring color has already filled the three rivers.
Lizhuang, the first ancient town along the Yangtze River
◾️ Lizhuang Ancient Town is located in Lizhuangba, Cuiping District, Yibin City, Sichuan Province. It was founded during the Southern Dynasties' Liang period. The ancient town has a long history, spanning multiple historical dynasties, and has been in existence for over 1,400 years. It is a national-level historical and cultural famous town.
◾️ Lizhuang, originally a fishing village, had a post station during the Han Dynasty. Due to its proximity to the Yangtze River, it has always been a major water transport hub. Cargo ships from various places in southern Sichuan would dock and unload goods here, making it extremely busy. Therefore, Lizhuang Ancient Town is known as 'the first ancient town along the thousands of miles of the Yangtze River'.
◾️ During the difficult years of the war of resistance, Lizhuang silently took on the mission of guarding Chinese culture, earning the resounding title of 'China's Lizhuang'. It is also acclaimed as a reflection point of Chinese culture and a place that nurtures the national spirit, truly a cultural backbone.
◾️ Lizhuang Ancient Town presents different sceneries at different times. The best time to visit is for one day and one night. In the morning, Lizhuang Ancient Town is tranquil and light, like a gentle woman from the south of the Yangtze River; in the evening, it is like a heavily made-up woman, beautiful and dreamy. During the day, Lizhuang is lively, filled with the smell of life. Walking through the streets and alleys, visiting the Nine Palaces and Eighteen Temples, cultural sites, and tasting the local specialties is both fulfilling and satisfying. But I still like the mornings and evenings in Lizhuang the most.
Travel Tips👇
1. Ticket information: The ancient town does not require an entrance fee.
2. Suggested visiting time: 1-2 days.
3. There are few accommodations in Lizhuang Ancient Town, it is recommended to stay in the urban area of Yibin.

5. Must-try foods: Lizhuang white meat and Yibin burning noodles. Also, white cakes, yellow rice cakes, and Lizhuang white liquor are good choices.
6. About photography: The antique buildings and alleys are full of ancient charm, and it is especially suitable for girls to wear Hanfu for photos.
7. Tianquan Cave Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Xingwen Stone Sea in Yibin| Explore Nature
One of the Four Wonders of Southern Sichuan: Xingwen Stone Sea
Xingwen Stone Sea is a World Geopark. When you enter Xingwen Stone Sea in Yibin, you can admire the towering stone forests, huge caves and the stalactites inside that are like the work of gods, it's a great place for you to deeply appreciate nature.
My one-day itinerary was too short, mainly visiting the three wonders of the scenic area: the surface stone sea, the sinkhole, and the Tianquan Cave. I bought a package ticket: admission + sightseeing car + boat ticket, a total of 115 yuan/person. The sightseeing car is round trip, you can get on and off at any time, and the boat ticket can be bought or not. If you like outdoor activities, you can buy a 240 yuan package ticket, which includes a few more activities.
If you have a longer time, you can also go to the Western Grand Canyon for a visit.
The food in the scenic area is very average, Yibin's burning noodles are okay. Occasionally, you will be invited by local residents to eat at their homes, I heard it's good, all home-cooked dishes, but I didn't go . Considering that there are many delicious foods in Yibin, you can have a big meal after the tour, so I didn't rush.
The scenic area is very large, it is said that it takes three days to walk all the way, very suitable for friends who like hiking.
The transportation near the Stone Sea is very convenient, you can drive yourself, take a bus. You can also take a high-speed train from other cities to Yibin, and then transfer from Yibin, it's very close.

Entering the bamboo forest is like stepping into another world
Today I visited the South Bamboo Sea again.
Setting off in the rain and arriving on a cloudy day is a stroke of good luck ☁️
I chose to hike up the mountain instead of taking the cable car 🚠. I took the road to the first peak on the east side, from Shouxing Square to Little Bird Paradise to the 1km stone stairs up the mountain. The path before the stairs was easy to walk, but climbing the stairs was particularly tiring. I had to stop and go, and it took about an hour to finally reach the summit!
Next time I'll just take the cable car directly~ It only takes a few minutes to get to Shouxing Square, and the experience is still enjoyable!
A few small tips:
The air in the mountains after the rain is especially fresh, but there are also an extraordinary number of mosquitoes! I suggest wearing long sleeves and pants, otherwise the bites are really swollen for three days and both painful and itchy!!
There's no need to buy the meal-inclusive ticket at the entrance, just the admission ticket is fine! There's a discount if you book a day in advance!
After coming out, you can also try the Manxiang private kitchen at the entrance! I chose blindly 🙈
The set meal they offer is quite large, and I ordered some dishes separately, the taste is really good~ The landlady also thoughtfully sterilizes the bowls and chopsticks, overall it was a very happy experience.
