It spreads out over 130,000m2 of land size, and is popular with its stunningly beautiful landscapes of tunnels, waterfalls etc. What makes this park so famous despite its remote location is the Momiji Valley, where several hundreds of maple trees changing its colours to red and orange, which is truly mesmerizing. The vermillion coloured bridge makes the park landscape even more pictureque, and everywhere has a nice place for a picture to be taken. Besides, there are lights being installed for night viewing of maple trees so that visitors can also enjoy the night picturesque maple sceneries.

Niigata is great lol The food is delicious and the air is clean. Their rice is the best in Japan! Right? So, of course, their sake is the best in Japan! (That's just my opinion.) I don't like cold places, but snow is still so wonderful. It's kind of exciting. I would like to say that this year's snow is abnormal. It's falling too much. But the open-air bath when it's snowing too much was also amazing. (I rushed in at the time the morning baths started so I could take a photo.) I also visited Yahiko Shrine, trying not to get in close to the crowds. They have received many awards and produce a huge variety of sake, all differing in flavor profiles and rice polishing ratios. You can learn more about this during a guided tour of the brewery — unfortunately, I didn’t manage to join one — or during a tasting session. For 1,500 yen, you can sample a large number of different types of sake. There is also a free tasting option, where you can try two types of amazake and one sake. In addition, they have a gachapon machine: for 500 yen, you can win a token that can later be exchanged for a bottle of sake. You can also buy sake kasu — the byproduct of sake production — for 880 yen, and pack as much as you can tightly fit into a bag. Very interesting. Highly recommended.

Sengando Suspension Bridge, one of Niigata's 50 Best Bridges, is a 124-meter-long suspension bridge. It's closed during the winter, but its vibrant red color, set against the green mountains, makes for a truly beautiful sight. ⛰️ The bridge is 35 meters high, making it an impressive sight! It's said to have been built over 2,400 years ago, making it a venerable shrine, even featured in the Manyoshu (Collection of Poets' Leaves). ⛩️ The central pillar of the first torii gate is suspended about 6cm above the ground! Try putting your hand through it! ⛩️ After visiting the shrine, why not try the ropeway up Mt. Yahiko? 🚡 There's a convenient free shuttle bus right next to the shrine. 🚌 It's about a 20-minute walk. I visited the famous power spot in Niigata, Yahiko Shrine ⛩️. It was very close to my accommodation, but when I went there at noon, the weather was extremely stormy, almost like a typhoon, with even small hail falling. So, I decided to have lunch first and then try again ☃️. The weather in this area changes frequently, and just a short distance can mean the difference between clear skies, heavy rain, or even snow. In the afternoon, the weather cleared up just in time, so I was able to visit the shrine ✨. There are many deer and chickens being raised on the grounds, making it feel like a zoo and very cute 🦌. I successfully completed my visit, drew a fortune slip, bought a protective charm since it's a power spot, and wrote a wish on an ema (wooden plaque). The snow added a magical touch, and the clear air made me feel very sacred 😌.
