Places worth visiting
1. Perth: The capital of Western Australia, is a vibrant and modern city with beautiful beaches, parks, museums and art centers.
2. Hutt Lagoon
Also known as the Pink Lake, it is a rare magical salt lake on the Western Australian coastline, presenting a beautiful dreamy pink color and the deep blue sea water forms a rare color
3. Rottnest Island: Only 19 kilometers away from Perth, it is famous for its clear sea water, white beaches and cute short-tailed dwarf kangaroos~
4. Kalbarri National Park: Located 500 kilometers north of Perth, it has spectacular canyons, red rocks and charming beaches~
5. The Pinnacles: Located in the Nambung National Park 260 kilometers north of Perth, the park is full of strange-shaped stone pillars scattered in the desert, forming a unique spectacle~
Herten Lake's pinkness
Hutt Lagoon is located near Geraldton and appears pink due to its rich algae and high salinity, presenting an unusual color that has become a must-visit spot for countless girls. The lake surface of the pink lake presents different colors within a day, satisfying all the fantasies of a girl's heart. In addition to admiring the pink lake up close, you can also take a sightseeing plane to overlook it. The sea area adjacent to the pink lake has a beautiful coral reef, and taking a plane to overlook the pink lake water and the blue sea water creates a strong visual impact.
According to online guides, Pink Lake is in a dry period from January to March, and I thought I wouldn't be able to see it, so I prepared for the worst. We came to Western Australia in March because it was our wedding anniversary, and it was the end of summer in the southern hemisphere, with high temperatures causing a lot of evaporation of the lake water, and Pink Lake was still in a dry period. If you have a strong obsession with Pink Lake, avoid the dry period and choose a scenic flight, which is the correct way to open it. We also visited Pink Lake on the outbound and return journeys.
On the first visit, Pink Lake was seen at noon. At this time, the water level of Pink Lake was not high, and there were large white salt crystals. Parking was convenient on the Pink Lake Lookout side, but the shooting effect was not satisfactory. However, it was still better than expected, after all, there were not high expectations originally.
Boys will never know how hard girls work to take photos. I have seen many girls go into the lake to take pictures online, and as a girl myself, I am very impressed. I also tried to walk into the lake, but the soft mud at the edge of the lake made me feel unsafe, and the smell emanating from the lake made me retreat decisively.
On the second visit back to the Pink Lake in the afternoon, the light was softer and the faint pink color appeared even more delicate. We originally wanted to find a better shooting angle, and had seen online that some people drove to the other side of the lake, but parking was difficult and there was a risk of getting stuck. We ultimately gave up and could only say that our obsession with the Pink Lake was not strong enough.
📮[Travel Tips]
▪️The two most commonly mentioned pink lakes in Western Australia are Lake Hillier south of Perth, which is pink all year round, but currently there is no direct way to land on the island, so you can only view it by plane. The more convenient one to drive to is Hutt Lagoon north of Perth, where there are also some mining fields with different colors, which look even more beautiful from the air and are known as God's palette.
▪️We didn't walk into the lake because our shoes might get ruined. If you plan to go into the water, prepare a pair of shoes that you're willing to throw away.
▪️Pink Lake is really worth appreciating from an aerial perspective. The lake surface captured by aerial photography is quite pink. If you have extra time, you can consider taking a sightseeing flight.
▪️From January to March, the Pink Lake is in a dry period. During this time, the water level of the Pink Lake is low, and there are large areas of white salt crystals. Avoiding the dry period and choosing a flight tour is the correct way to experience it.
Hutt Lagoon
Address - George Grey Dr, Yallabatharra WA 6535, Australia
Highlights - Favourite color, favourite place. A must to visit if you are at Perth!
Rating - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hutt Lagoon Pink Lake @ Port Gregory
Getting There - worth the drive from Geraldton to Port Gregory since we are going down south to Perth.
Attractions - Hutt Lagoon is known as the pink lake because the water actually looks pink. This is due to the large presence of the carotenoid-producing algae Dunaliella Salina in the lake, which is a source of beta-carotene and vitamin A. This algae is used as a colouring agent in foods and cosmetics.
Hotels - we did not book any there! 😉
Food & Restaurants - you gotta drive a bit to Kalbarri
Shopping - well, we did not do any shopping near port gregory but there is a general store nearby.
Will go again!
In addition to Pink Lake, there are 5 other stunning salt lakes in Western Australia.

3. Little Lagoon (photo 6): 80 Monkey Mia Road, Denham, WA 6537
4. Unnamed pink lake 1 (photo 7): Shark Bay (coordinates: -26.1985234, 113.7077206)
