Camping at Amandara Mandi, Yan, Kedah
I spent only a night with my camper but for sure not the last time. Just an amazing place and for star lovers! take your telescope if you can, ther is no light pollution and a wonderful heaven. And sooo calm.
Super hospitality
Great setting with wonderful views and lovely welcoming hosts!
It really is a lovely campsite – there were very few others staying whilst we were there and we chose a pitch at the far end of the site so really felt like there was no-one else around. Extremely peaceful. Some of the pitches didn’t look very level so if it was busy you would need to be prepared to be on a slope.

Lover Nature @ Kem Amandara!
Camp Amandara is campsite located in a 180-acre private estate adjacent to a forest reserve.
Sungai Raga waterfall is just located 8-minutes walk away from the campsite. Before 6.30 am, campers may move your way and bring your cooking equipment & ingredients to Amandara Summit to enjoy breakfast while watching the sunrise. When the day is hot, campers may visit the river to refresh and chill by the river.
For campers who love adventure, don't miss the challenging stream trekking towards waterfall activity. The stream is mysterious enough to attract your sensory inputs. You can see many different kinds of wild plants and insects in this area.

Hidden Gems in Kedah!
#spooktaculartrip
Pulau Song Song is situated about an hour slow boat ride to the west of Yan, Kedah, south west of Song Song there is a rocky outcrop called Tukun Terendak, we did our first dive there. To the south of Song Song there are another 2 islands, Pulau Telor and Pulau Bidan, we didn’t dive there, but I believe it would also be interesting to dive there too.
From Song Song we could see Gunung Jerai from the west, it looked gorgeous from that direction. There is this waterfall perhaps several hundred meter ASL, and at least a hundred meter tall that is visible even from Song song … I wonder what is that waterfall called? Batu Hampar?

This is a viral camping activity everywhere in Malaysia. Even in Kedah, there are many campsites for families to have camping activities. There is a very beautiful location for camping. This place is very suitable to relax the mind that is confused with the problems of this world.
Located in Ruat, Yan, Kedah. Not far from the town of Sungai Petani. How long can you spend time with your family or come alone to pamper yourself?
Basic facilities for campers are also provided such as clean water source, toilet, plug point, prayer hall and place for BBQ.

Never feel that you are the most suffering person in this world. It's not only you, all of us must have been, are and will have a "problem".just the difference, there are mostly complaining and even giving up, and there are those who remain optimistic and sure that God will never be unjust to His servants, so he keeps smiling in living his life. 🙂

Jerai Hill Strawberry Farm, Kedah

Yan Nature Days🌿
Let’s talk Yan – the ultimate day trip hotspot if you’re craving mountain magic and lush rainforest vibes 🌧️🌳. Gunung Jerai is epic for scenic views, easy hiking, and a dose of local culture, all packed into one chill day. The coolest part? You can do it all: hilltop resort, botanical park strolls, dreamy mountain cafes, and even a peaceful mosque visit, all without rushing.
Top Spots to Visit:
- Start at The Jerai Hill Resort (Jalan Kaki Bukit Lebuhraya Utara - Selatan, Gurun). Rooms are cozy, showers are strong, beds will knock you out after a long day, and there’s tea/coffee to recharge. Try to book a hill view room for Insta-worthy sunrise moments!
- Next up: Gunung Jerai Botanical Park (Jln Regency Jerai Hill Resort, 08300 Gurun). Super walkable with unique tropical plants and cheeky monkeys if you spot them.
- Grab lunch at Puncak Kedah Restaurant (Unnamed Road, 08300 Yan). Local Malay dishes, veggies, and mountain air – simple but delicious!
- Sip at Jungle Coffee Shop @ Gunung Jerai Botanical Park (QCWM+6R, 08300 Yan). Cute, simple café perfect for a snack and peaceful break.
- Quick stop at Masjid Gunung Jerai (K159), a clean and serene spot for quiet reflection and architectural snaps.
My handy tip: One day is all you need to see everything without feeling rushed! Very relaxing to go with senior citizens like parents, they would really loved the vibes. The weather can turn rainy or cloudy fast, so pack light layers and a small umbrella. Resort guests: the pool's nice for an evening dip, but check your room for floor cleanliness on arrival.
Getting Around: Book a car/taxi up the hill for comfort and speed – public transport is patchy.
Food: Don’t miss local specialties at the restaurant, and the cafe’s kopi susu is must-try.
Extra: No visa needed for Malaysians, but bring cash (WiFi and card machines are spotty above the clouds).

Yan’s hidden gem, Gunung Jerai, calls for a cozy food adventure—especially when rain and mist roll in! If you crave soul-warming comfort in a mountain setting, this is for you. Nothing beats savoring good food with a steaming cup of hot chocolate while enjoying cool weather and lush scenery.
📍 Gunung Jerai Resort Restaurant
Gunung Jerai, 08300 Yan, Kedah
Signature Dishes: Try their rich tom yam soup—perfect in the chill—plus freshly fried goreng pisang and local rice specials. Don't skip the indulgent hot chocolate, a comfort essential on a misty day.
Vibe/Ambience: Cozy mountain café vibes, wooden tables, lots of greenery just outside—they’ve mastered warmth and comfort on rainy afternoons!
Opening Hours: 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Key Strengths: Unbeatable views when the clouds clear, welcoming staff, and the sensation of enjoying a hot meal surrounded by gentle mountain fog. Their local desserts are surprisingly good, especially fresh onde-onde.
Personal Tip: Grab a window seat for the misty view. Wrap your hands around your hot chocolate and let the rain soundtrack set the mood—it’s the ultimate Yan experience!
Pro Tip: Bring a sweater—humidity might fade but the mountain chill stays. Weekends can get busy, so arrive early if you want the best seats. #Yan #GunungJerai #MountainCafe #MalaysiaEats #CozyFood

Breezy Escapade at Jerai Hill Resort 🍃🏔️
Nestled atop Gunung Jerai, Jerai Hill Resort is your accessible gateway to panoramic views, crisp mountain air, and a laid-back retreat from city buzz. The resort welcomes day-trippers keen for relaxing strolls, pretty gardens, and cooling weather that dips below 22°C—even more refreshing if you’re used to the heat!
Recommended Route & Must-Dos:
Start your day by winding up the scenic drive to Jerai Hill Resort (Jalan Kaki Gunung Jerai, open daily 8 AM–6 PM). Head straight for the viewing platforms where you can snap sweeping shots of paddy fields stretching to the coastline—those are the real insta-worthy angles. Wander the resort’s leafy gardens and stop at the strawberry farm for a sweet treat; their strawberry ice cream is a definite must-try (personal favorite!). Take in the peaceful vibes before sampling local snacks at the cafe or picnic spots.
Top Photo Spots:
Capture the misty mountain panoramas at sunrise, silhouette shots on the main stone lookout, and close-ups among the flower beds—perfect for travel bragging rights.
Practical Visiting Tips:
Layer up! Morning and late afternoon temperatures can get surprisingly chilly for Malaysia. A light jacket is much more practical than umbrellas (especially on windy days). If you’re just sightseeing and not staying, arrive early to avoid crowds and make the most of peaceful moments. Parking is available, but weekends fill up fast.
Precautions:
Weather changes quickly; check forecasts before heading up. Take care on winding roads, and keep an eye out for sudden fog.
