Yangcheng Manghe Scenic Area: A Romantic Encounter with Nature
On a sunny day, filled with endless longing for nature, I set off on a journey to Yangcheng Manghe Scenic Area. Along the way, the scenery outside the window was like a painting—rolling mountains and lush green fields seemed to cheer for the adventure I was about to begin.
Entering the Scenic Area: Lush Greenery
As the gates of Manghe Scenic Area came into view, it felt like stepping into a green dream world. Everywhere I looked was green—trees tall and short, thick and thin, forming dense clusters, lush and vibrant, as if I had entered a vast green kingdom. The majestic green mountains, bathed in sunlight, appeared incredibly mysterious, stirring in me a strong urge to climb and unveil their secrets.
Walking along the path, a crystal-clear river flowed beside me, its water bubbling joyfully, producing a tinkling melody as if playing a cheerful tune. I couldn’t help but squat down and gently stir the water with my hand—wow, it was cool and refreshing. I picked up a few stones and tried skipping them across the water. Although my technique was poor and most stones sank quickly, it didn’t dampen my enthusiasm.
Monkey Valley Encounter: Playful Spirits
Continuing forward, I unknowingly arrived at Monkey Valley. This place is truly a paradise for monkeys, with them scattered all over the hills. Old monkeys, young monkeys, male monkeys, female monkeys—truly “no tigers in the mountains, monkeys reign supreme.” Some monkeys swiftly jumped down from trees to the nearby railings, quietly gazing at the distant mountains as if lost in thought; others looked pitifully at tourists’ bags and pointed to their mouths, begging for food.
I carefully passed by them, afraid they might snatch my belongings. Suddenly, a monkey quickly jumped down from a tree, snatched a tourist’s bread, then scampered up a tree to eat it with great delight, making the tourist laugh in disbelief. Another little monkey clung tightly to its mother’s belly, while the mother carefully protected it—a touching scene.
I took out some corn kernels to feed the monkeys. At first, I was a bit scared, tossing the kernels to them whenever they approached. A lady nearby, however, was fearless; she squatted down, opened her hands, and let the monkeys take corn directly from her palm without any harm. Gradually, I dared to get closer too. I gently placed corn kernels in my palm, and a little monkey slowly approached, reaching out its tiny hand to take the kernels. The furry touch melted my heart.
Waterfall Spectacle: Stunning Beauty
Deeper into the scenic area, I heard the roaring sound of a waterfall in the distance. Quickening my pace, my heart filled with anticipation. Finally, I arrived at the waterfall, and the sight left me in awe. Water cascaded from a great height, splashing a wide spray like strings of pearls falling down. Some waterfalls roared like a white dragon, majestic and powerful; others flowed like silver ribbons, light and graceful, producing pleasant sounds.
The “Renzi Waterfall” is especially unique. When the mountain spring flows down into a small valley, it naturally splits into two streams, flowing along different “routes,” hence the name. It lacks the grandeur of Hukou Waterfall or the vastness of the Yangtze River, but it has its own elegant charm. It resembles a young maiden descending from the sky, gently shaking her forehead, swaying her skirt, smiling at people, and conversing with them in a melodious voice—ding ding dong dong, ding ding dong dong... A gentle breeze stirs ripples on the waterfall’s flowing water, resembling dimples on a girl’s face! The wind carries mist and spray, blending water and fog, as if entering a fairyland.
Mountains and Water: Picturesque Scenery
The mountains and waters of Manghe embrace each other, forming a breathtaking painting. The water of Manghe is truly green, like flawless jade; it is so still you hardly feel it flowing; it is so clear you can see the sand and stones at the riverbed. Surrounded by mountains, the riverbanks are lush with pine and cypress trees, and the slopes bloom with wildflowers in red, yellow, purple—colorful and competing in beauty.
The peaks cluster and undulate like dragons soaring into the sky. From different angles, the patterns change; from different directions, new discoveries await. Viewed horizontally, the mountains resemble soaring eagles; from a vertical perspective, they look like camels weathering desert storms; looking up to the left, the rows of mountains resemble graceful, lively carp.
Return and Reflection: An Unforgettable Journey
As the sunset’s afterglow spread across the land, I knew my Manghe journey was coming to an end. With reluctance, I slowly left the scenic area. This trip allowed me to experience the magic and beauty of nature and have an intimate encounter with those adorable monkeys.
Manghe Scenic Area is like a book that never ends, each page filled with surprises and emotions. The mountains, the water, and the monkeys here have deeply imprinted on my heart. I believe this trip will become an unforgettable chapter in my life, treasured forever, eagerly awaiting the next reunion.
