However, shantytowns still remain around the city. Downtown is a bustling core of market streets and motorbike traffic. Coffeeshop with an exception view of Sule Pagoda. It's hard to find. Look for a small blackboard.
The balcony is small but has the views. The decor is really cool and quirky. Great service, nice coffee, and a really tasty Moroccan breakfast. Really hit the spot.

Visiting the Yangon National Museum is like taking a journey through Myanmar’s rich history and culture. The museum’s vast collection includes ancient artifacts, royal regalia, and stunning displays of traditional arts and crafts. Shwedagon Pagoda, Myanmar.
The Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon is grand and beautiful. Taking photos at different times from evening to night offers varying beauty. Around the pagoda, there are many revered figures and sacred objects, such as the Buddha statue of Shin Saw Pu, the Nat spirit, the Giant Mother, Phra Sivali, and Phra Upagupta. Currently, it takes more than an hour to walk around, and even then, it's not enough to see everything. I plan to return to pay my respects again. The entrance fee is 20,000 kyats per person.
Shining of Gold Pagoda, Shwedagon Pagoda in Myanmar
#temples
Shwedagon Pagoda is located at the centre of Yangon City, Myanmar. As Shwe means "gold" in Burmese.
I am not sure whether you can use a public transport or not to get here, but I recommend you to use online taxi instead called Grab and easy to access there. Also, you will need to use proper and polite way of dressing as this is kind of sacred place that you must obey the religion values.
You will need to pay for the entrance fee as a tourist. In my case, there was a guy approaching me to guide me along my visit. He will inform you as much as he can about the history of this temples. At the end, you will be asked for a tips for him. If you don't mind, you can just continue, but if you feel you are bothered, you should probably ignore and reject him that you don't need his guidance. Anyway, he will also help for what you need for example take picture of you, so it is a win-win.
There will be a lot of people coming to pray. And I suggest you to come here during evening time because the area is quite burning during the afternoon.
The Pagoda is built of Gold from many countries around the world. That thing is so interesting because many countries involved of this created Pagoda.

Diverse Architecture in Yangon
🏚 Yangon, the former capital of Myanmar, remains the largest city in the country and is also the most famous commercial hub.
🏚 Myanmar was under British rule from 1824 to 1948. Therefore, the construction of various office buildings during that period followed the colonial style, including city planning and functional buildings such as post offices, banks, and customs departments.
🏤 Yangon is one of the most culturally rich cities in Southeast Asia, blending traditional and foreign cultures. Most of the architecture from that period has a strong Western influence.
🏢 After Myanmar gained independence, the government continued to use these buildings, maintaining them as needed. As a result, many colonial-era buildings still remain.
🏨 This makes Myanmar the country with the most remaining colonial architecture in the ASEAN region.
🏰 If you have the chance to visit Yangon, you will encounter beautiful Southeast Asian colonial architecture harmoniously blended with Myanmar's exquisite traditional architecture.

Pan Pacific hotel @ Yangon
Had a trip to Yangon with my family during Mother's Day and stayed at the Pan Pacific hotel.
Accommodation Review: This hotel is adjacent to Junction City mall, making it very convenient for travel. It's not far from Sule Pagoda. The accommodation is excellent. The bathroom is large with a bathtub and a seating area for the elderly to shower comfortably. The wet and dry areas are separated, and the shower area is distinct from the toilet. The curtains in the room are automatic.
Restaurant Review: The breakfast is a buffet with international cuisine, including Western, Indian, Chinese, and local dishes. There are also bread, salads, cakes, and fruit juices. Personally, I liked the congee, which comes with various toppings such as salted eggs, century eggs, spring onions, and more.
Ancient Buddha Relics
Botahtaung Pagoda in Yangon is a captivating destination for tourists. Located along the banks of the Yangon River, this ancient site is known for its hollow interior, which allows visitors to walk through and admire the relic chamber, believed to house a hair of Buddha. The pagoda's golden stupa and intricate designs are breathtaking, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Myanmar. Visitors can also enjoy peaceful moments in the nearby riverfront park, offering beautiful views. Botahtaung Pagoda is a must-visit for anyone exploring Yangon, blending spiritual significance with historical charm.

Shwedagon Pagoda is a must-visit in one's lifetime
❤Reason for recommendation: Yangon, formerly known as the capital of Myanmar, was called Dagon (also known as Dagon) in the 11th century, and is famous for the Shwedagon Pagoda.
🌟Highlight features: Shwedagon Pagoda is the national symbol of Myanmar, built in 585 BC, shaped like an inverted giant bell, constructed with bricks. After several renovations, the pagoda is now covered with over a thousand pure gold plates, with more than 7 tons of gold used. It is known as one of the treasures of Eastern art, along with Indonesia's Borobudur and Cambodia's Angkor Wat.
❤Reason for recommendation: For those who love this place, even a day is not enough, especially when seeing the ascetics in 40-degree heat, the kind of soul-stirring power that makes one pause and reflect.
'The ascetic practices self-suffering to cultivate blessings for all sentient beings.'

Fascinating Rose Garden Hotel in Yangon
Many people visit Myanmar and they choose this hotel because it is one of the best and perfect for a short break in Yangon.
My room is beautifully decorated with quality linens, a great mattress, and comfortable traditional- style furniture. The bathroom looks brand-new with high-end rain showers, good plumbing, and tile work and fittings which befit a five-star hotel. Housekeeping was really on top of everything and did an amazing job.
The pool is open till late night - great for a night swim under the stars. The lobby is the best feature of this hotel, it was very comfortable to spend time with friends there. Food was good with different kinds of items. The price for the room is a great value compared to other hotels.

Breakfast at Parkroyal Yangon
Address - Parkroyal at Yangon, Myanmar
Ambiance/Facilities - 4 star hotel
Highlight - international buffet
Seldom eat buffet in hotels due to high prices but decided to give it a try when in Yangon, since breakfast prices are reasonable and buffet spread consist of international and local.
Restaurant ambient is comfortable and cozy, not too many people. Service crew are fast and professional, and speak reasonable English.
International breakfast spreads are rather limited, but with a good selection of pastries. The local spread is good for foreigners for me to try, as it consists of many typical Myanmar foods such as Burmese curry and the famous Mohinga.

💡 Hack & Tips:
✔️ In case the money changer doesn’t accept your USD in Yangon airport, just look for other. Keep in mind that they don’t accept series older than 2009, folded, stained or with little stamp.
✔️ JJ Express have Premium Economy bus to Bagan, much cheaper than Premium one, it includes reclining seat, comforter, bottled water. (Scheduled at 8 and 10pm)
✔️ Paying the Bagan Archaeological Fee in local currency is cheaper than in USD (25000 kyats or 19usd)
Keep the receipt as this will serve your entrance fee to all the temples.
✔️ Rent an e-bike or scooter to explore (6,000 kyats per day)
✔️ You are required to remove your shoes and socks when going inside the temples.
✔️ Having your accommodation outside Old and New Bagan will save you a lot (We stayed at Shwe Na Di Guest House, in Nyang U, close to the bus terminal, Old and New Bagan)
(Highly recommended, they even gave us breakfast for free upon arrival, staffs are super nice.)
✔️ Book your accommodation in Yangon at Backpacker Bed & Breakfast. They offer Php200 per night per head with free breakfast. Walking distance to majority of tourist attractions in Yangon.
✔️ Food is so cheap, for only 5000 kyats you can eat a good meal in “carinderyas” with many side dishes.
✔️ If you want to chill at night, go to Sakura Tower Roof Top Bar. Entrance fee is 5000 kyats (consumable for drinks or food). It offers amazing view of Yangon’s skyline (including Shwedagon Pagoda).
✔️ Grab is cheap in Yangon.
✔️ Allow atleast a few days in Bagan, just take it slow. Burmese people are very friendly and helpful. They always greet us with their warmest smile. One of the best countries I’ve visited.

Nga Htat Gyi Pagoda
Nga Htat Gyi Pagoda is one of the most important religious and historical building in Yangon. The location is quite convenient as it is in the hearth of the city's down town. The recommended sightseeing time is half an hour or maximum one hour.
The temple is really well preserved and is a pleasure to see in person. Remember to remove your shoes to walk inside the building. No need to purchase tickets. I though because of the free entry that the place was going to be crowded but I was surprised to find out that it was quite empty and peaceful. an advantage is that it closes late so you can fit this in your itinerary at any time. It is open to the public until 8:00 PM.

Glorious Temple in city centre
#createwithtrip
Shwedagon Pagoda is one of the most recognisable temple in the world. From Exterior you just feel like it is a pagoda fully cladded with Gold. Some shinning and beautiful. The Pagoda is situated on Singuttara Hill in the centre of Yangon. It is the most sacred Buddhist Temple in Myanmar. I visited this place few times when it was more accessible few years back. It was mesmerising to me and others worshipers and tourists alike.
It is dated back to 14th century and believed to enshrine the bodily relics of Buddha.
The whole site is mammoth, you will take at least a few hours in this glorious places and the place is fully packed with people every day especially during the special occasion such as the birthdate of Buddha.
The main Pagoda is 326 feet tall above the city and the plated the solid gold. simply unthinkable.
Strongly recommended. A must see in Myanmar.
welcome to Myanmar

Shwedagon Pagoda
The Shwedagon is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, as it is believed to contain relics of the four previous Buddhas of the present kalpa. These relics include the staff of Kakusandha, the water filter of Koṇāgamana, a piece of the robe of Kassapa, and eight strands of hair from the head of Gautama.
Built on the 51-metre (167 ft) high Singuttara Hill, the 112 m (367 ft) tall pagoda stands 170 m (560 ft) above sea level, and dominates the Yangon skyline. Yangon's zoning regulations, which cap the maximum height of buildings to 127 metres (417 feet) above sea level (75% of the pagoda's sea level height), ensure the Shwedagon's prominence in the city's skyline. About Shwedagon Pagoda-According to tradition, the Shwedagon Pagoda was constructed more than 2,500 years ago, which would make it the oldest Buddhist stupa in the world. The story goes that two merchant brothers Tapussa and Bhallika met the Gautama Buddha during his lifetime and received eight strands of the Buddha's hairs. The brothers presented the eight strands of hair to King Okkalapa of Dagon who enshrined the strands along with some relics of the three preceding Buddhas of the Gautama Buddha in a stupa on the Singuttara Hill in present-day Myanmar. The first mention of the pagoda in the royal chronicles dates only to 1362/63 CE (724 ME) when King Binnya U of Martaban–Hanthawaddy raised the pagoda to 18 m (59 ft). Contemporary inscriptional evidence, the Shwedagon Pagoda Inscriptions from the reign of King Dhammazedi of Hanthawaddy (r. 1471–1492), shows a list of repairs of the pagoda going back to 1436. In particular, Queen Shin Saw Pu (r. 1454–1471) raised its height to 40 m (130 ft), and gilded the new structure. By the beginning of the 16th century, Shwedagon Pagoda had become the most famous Buddhist pilgrimage site in Burma.
