2024 Zhangjiagang Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Zhangjiagang is an industrial port city on the south bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The land is flat, while the river forms a sort of V-shape around it. The climate in the city is mild, with four delightfully distinct seasons.
Zhangjiagang has an extensive history and features eleven Neolithic sites. The area also includes the “three mountains and one garden” scenic areas (Shuangshan Island, Xiang Mountain, Fenghuang Mountain and Dongduyuan Scenic Spot) and other scenic attractions, including the Xiang Mountain peach blossoms that Xu Xiake visited three times throughout his travels. Other attractions include the ancient Jianzhen Dongdu Wharf, the archaeological excavation site Huangsipu, and the ruins of Dongshan Village. This is also the home of such legends as Su Dongpo at Meihua Hall and the Travels of Xu Xiake.

I had an amazing Japanese buffet in Zhangjiagang.
🍣 Restaurant Name: Heteng Japanese Cuisine
📍 Located in the Zhangjiagang Shopping Park, Heteng Japanese Cuisine offers an all-you-can-eat Japanese feast!
🦞 We chose the $279 set menu, which includes half a lobster and fresh sea urchin per person, along with a variety of sashimi such as salmon, sweet shrimp, and herring, all of which you can enjoy to your heart's content!
🍢 Their skewers are also outstanding, featuring classics like chicken wings, chicken skin, and chicken cartilage, all grilled to perfection and delicious.
🍶 In addition to sake and beer, you can also enjoy drinks like oolong tea and orange juice. There are also hot dishes like beef hot pot available.
🌟 The food at Heteng Japanese Cuisine is definitely worth recommending! If you are on a business trip to Zhangjiagang, don't miss this restaurant! 😋

STAYING At YANGZHOU
#lstaying at hotel is the best way to enjoy relaxing time. Speically after the Spring festival, getting bored with the hustle ad bustle in city, and wanting to experience a different life, so I booked Youzhou Yiyang Hotspring resort--a hotel in countryside.
There is a huge park adjacent to Yiyang hot spring hotel, and the park includes a little zoo, and a lot of entertainment facilities. You can choose to take a walk or rent a bicycle to go sightseeing.
However, the transportation is not so satisfying-it was hard to hail a taxi, while taking bus to get to downtown needs almost 40 minutes.
#staycation
Zhangjiagang Park
Stopped by this gem just joy riding in the Zhangjiagang. It was such a beautiful day and kids were in the water on these big floats, boat paddles were going, and people were enjoying themselves.
Beautiful Zhangjiagang
Amazing night at Zhangjiagang! Old part of the town is amazing! My first stop during summer holiday! I had unfortunately only one day to see the city, but i was amazed by beautiful of the town and how polite people are!
#summervacation#urbanexplorer
In Zhangjiagang, I accidentally met a small pink, pink grass that I had been thinking for so long. Finally, I found that the children in Zhangjiagang had not calmed down. Hahaha
Coordinate: Zhangjiagang Xiaojia The lane features rural villages, in addition to white yarrow, as well as lavender and many other flower fields, all year round can be beautiful, and not far from here is the Phoenix Lake Ecological Park, a boat rafting lake, flower viewing + boating The combination of a static movement is also quite good.
Autumn in Suzhou is undoubtedly the peak of fall travel!
Finally, the late autumn season I've been longing for has arrived! 🍁
The branches of late autumn are always adorned with vibrant and fiery colors, as dazzling as burning flames.🔥
"Remember the best scenery of the year, when the oranges are yellow and the tangerines are green." This poem perfectly captures the beauty of the moment.
Under the morning sun, the leaves on the branches seem to be revitalized, shining brightly.✨
Facing the warm sunlight, I gently peeked out and saw a forest in front of me, with the ground covered in yellow 🟡 and green 🟢 fallen leaves, like nature's palette.
The trees by the river remain tall and upright, quietly guarding the changing seasons, waiting for the fiery red moment to come.🌲
As the weather gradually gets colder, by the end of December, you'll see rows of trees dressed in fiery red, hot and magnificent.🔥
In addition, there are many unknown trees in the park, whose leaves are quietly turning yellow 🟡, intertwined with red 🔴, orange 🟠, and other colored leaves, creating a series of captivating autumn paintings.
From a distance, this scenery looks like a carefully crafted autumn oil painting, intoxicating.🖼
The comment section is ready, and we look forward to you sharing your autumn scenery photos, so we can all experience the poetry and romance of autumn together!📸💖
Suzhou's 66th Garden.
Suzhou's 66th Garden: Tianzhuang Bangyan Mansion
Tianzhuang Ancient Street: Formerly known as Tianzhuang and Tianyangzhuang. Built in the Ming dynasty.
Bangyan Mansion: Sun Cheng'en, the second place winner in the imperial examination during the Shunzhi period of the Qing dynasty, once served as a compiler at the Hanlin Academy. Yang Dai, a wealthy man and famous filial son during the Qianlong period of the Qing dynasty, once served as a judicial officer. Both of them invested heavily in the expansion of Tianzhuang.
Fenghua Garden is a garden within a garden in Suzhou.
Suzhou Fenghua Garden is located in Shazhou Park at the intersection of Jiyang Road and Gongyuan Road in Zhangjiagang. It was built in 1992, covering a total area of 6,560 square meters. It has many attractions and a unique layout, which complements the original natural landscape in the park. There are ancient-style buildings such as a waterside pavilion, flower hall, and half pavilion, hidden among the red maples and willows. Under the bridge, fountains splash and fish swim, creating a joyful scene.

I visited Xiangshan on the way.
Zhangjiagang has a 4A scenic spot, Xiangshan Scenic Area. I came here on the way after work. The scenic area is full of the fragrance of osmanthus, beautiful scenery, but not many tourists, quiet and leisurely. Rich natural scenery and cultural landscape, leading the trend among the mountains in southern Jiangsu. Especially when you climb up and look into the distance, you can see the beautiful scenery of the Yangtze River and the panoramic view of Zhangjiagang, which makes people enter a different mood. /

Savor the Beauty of the Island in Golden October
In October, the seaside is kissed by a cool breeze. Waves roll towards the shore, then quietly retreat, leaving countless memories behind.
The waves caress the coastline, creating a beautiful melody that lingers in the air. Like the footsteps of time, they tell the stories of the seaside, enchanting all who listen. On this island, time seems to stand still, with only the gifts of nature and our longing for beauty.
In Golden October, the scenery of Shuangshan Island is picturesque. Every corner is a romantic spot, waiting for you to explore.

Zhangjiagang "Guarding the Yangtze River" Intangible Cultural Heritage Folk Festival.
I participated in the "Guarding the Yangtze River" Intangible Cultural Heritage Folk Festival in Zhangjiagang, and the scene was quite lively. As a sub-event of the 2024 Yangtze River Culture Festival, intangible cultural heritage resources with regional characteristics and humanistic customs from various provinces and cities along the river are gathered here, not only showing the vitality of Yangtze River culture, but also presenting a feast of intangible cultural heritage.
This intangible cultural heritage folk festival has more than 20 projects from 12 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in the Yangtze River Basin, such as Qinghai, Yunnan, and Hubei, which are worth seeing. Like Qinghai's Qingxiu, Sichuan Miao's batik skills, etc.
In addition to the intangible cultural heritage stalls outside the province, local and surrounding stall owners have also joined in. Local specialty foods, special products, and intangible cultural heritage handicrafts and other products make the entire festival full of fireworks. Local citizens can feel and experience the most representative intangible cultural heritage culture of various ethnic groups in the Yangtze River Basin at their doorstep, which is great!
Every time I visit a city, I always want to visit a museum.
Every time I visit a city, I always want to visit a museum to feel the historical precipitation and cultural accumulation. This time I came to Zhangjiagang Museum, which displays unearthed artifacts and local folk artifacts, vividly showing the history of Zhangjiagang and the wisdom and creation of the working people, and feeling the wisdom and creativity of the ancients.
This is the best value for money hotel in Zhangjiagang.
The hotel opened in 2019, so all the facilities are quite modern and well maintained. The suite is very spacious, the bathtub in the room is great, and the floor-to-ceiling windows offer a clear view of the scenery outside. Unfortunately, the hotel overlooks the city, and some places are still under construction, which is a bit of a shame.
Happy Hour is from 17:30 to 19:30. The lounge is located on the 36th floor, which is very spacious and the environment is great. There are many types of dinner, including roast duck, salad, fruit, stir-fry, various dim sum and porridge, which is very rich.
The breakfast at this hotel is located on the top floor of the hotel on the 39th floor. This is the first Marriott hotel I have stayed in where breakfast is not on the ground floor but on the top floor. It is quite distinctive, the view is great, the view is wide, and the breakfast variety is also very complete. Great
1️⃣ Free wool is so cool~
2️⃣ Suite facilities: All pictures are real shots, the suite is very big, there are two bathrooms (no congestion hhh), the bathtub is super cool, the floor-to-ceiling windows look at the city view is not bad, the suite space is super big and there are many things. There is a place to put it, there is a coffee machine to make coffee, if you have to say the shortcomings, it is not a smart toilet? Walking on the wooden floor without wearing its slippers will make a lot of noise? Although the city view is cool, you can’t pull the curtains because there are many high-rise buildings outside? Picky.
3️⃣ The hotel has robots, and takeaways can be delivered by robots. Wanda is downstairs, and it is very convenient for everyone to travel or eat, drink and play.
.
4️⃣ The service in the executive lounge is very good, there are enough seats and fewer people than in larger cities, so it is quiet. You can always work there quietly or have a happy drink. (The pork rib soup and beef stewed radish for dinner are delicious) We ordered two cocktails twice, and the cocktail time is unlimited until the end of the lounge dinner. I think this is very good, because some hotels only provide soft drinks after a few points. ..
5️⃣ The breakfast is mediocre, it's normal, there are few people, I sit in the corner and look out the window to enjoy breakfast is a good experience (strongly recommend the chocolate flavor of ice cream is very good)
A Feast for the Senses: Zhangjiagang's Delicious Musical Experience!
🍽 Yi He Restaurant & Lounge 🎶
🍁
Located in the Zhangjiagang Shopping Park, Yi He offers a unique and enchanting dining experience! The restaurant's decor resembles a concert hall, with private rooms upstairs offering a bird's-eye view of the main hall. The musical equipment in the main hall adds to the ambiance of a music-themed restaurant. We chose a private room on the second floor, and from this vantage point, it felt like we were transported into a scene full of stories and nostalgia.
🍲
The flavors of the dishes surprised us! We didn't expect Yi He's cuisine to be so impressive, leaving a lasting impression. They prepared a series of refreshing cold dishes, and the main courses were rich in flavor and delicious! Every bite was a delightful surprise, making it hard to stop!
🪑
In addition to the delicious food, the comfort of the seating made this dining experience even more perfect! Comfortable seating allowed us to relax and enjoy the food, making it highly recommended for all food lovers and those who enjoy a great dining experience! Step into Yi He Restaurant and embark on a wonderful journey of food and music. 🎵🍴

Zhangjiagang Travel: Rich Aroma and Stunning Photo Opportunities in the Industrial Park
🍶This is a cultural industrial park filled with the aroma of wine, and it's a highly anticipated stop on my Zhangjiagang trip. Everyone says it's very beautiful and photogenic. 🌟Wine Culture Features
Here, there are various wine culture exhibition halls, factories, and production process displays. As you walk around, you can learn about the unique yellow wine culture of Jiangnan. It not only broadens your horizons and brings joy but also allows you to experience a unique charm that we don't usually encounter. It's truly interesting.
🌟Immersive Experience
Visiting the cultural park is not just about leisure and sightseeing. The unique immersive experience here is undoubtedly a great feature. You can experience real yellow wine brewing scenes, explore old cellars to gain new knowledge, taste unique yellow wine products and derivative delicacies, and have a full experience.
🌟Stunning Photo Spots
This is something that must be mentioned. Even if you don't drink wine, the stunning photo spots alone are worth the visit. The giant green bear under the sky, the Suzhou-style gardens of the yellow wine town, the brewing workshops and production areas, the museum, and the matrix of wine jars are all great for photos.
🍶Of course, experiencing different yellow wine cultures, feeling the unique Jiangnan aroma, and tasting the park's special yellow wine popsicles, yellow wine coffee, yellow wine milk tea, and yellow wine ice cream are all rewarding experiences. You can also take home some souvenirs, concluding our short weekend reverse trip to Zhangjiagang with a full harvest.

Zhangjiagang travel experience with new Chinese-style landscape, clean and tidy
🛏️For this trip to Zhangjiagang, I chose to stay at the Marriott, which was selected as the local benchmark after completing online research. It truly provided a haven for a whole day's fatigue. To be honest, especially in non-first-tier cities, choosing a well-known brand does ensure better service, and that's the truth.

🌟Room
The room is spacious and clean, without any odd smells. The bed is comfortable and conducive to a good night's sleep, the lighting is just right, and the soundproofing is good. The room has a bathtub and an advanced smart control system, and the wifi speed is quite fast.

Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai Self-Drive Tour Recommendations | Roaming in Zhangjiagang
May is the perfect time to travel, with the spring waning and the summer heat not yet arrived, bringing a sense of leisure. Coupled with the holidays, if you don't want to be crammed with crowds, you can find a less popular city nearby for a private travel experience.
Zhangjiagang, located on the southern bank of the lower Yangtze River, is less than a two-hour drive from Shanghai. In Zhangjiagang, you can head out leisurely and wander at a relaxed pace! More importantly, there aren't too many people during the holidays! Today, I'll recommend a few attractions in Zhangjiagang for you to visit, so remember to save this list!
🌹【Shangang Village】: The coffee here is fragrant with flowers~
Looking at these lovely flower fields, don't you feel your dopamine levels rising? This time, I encountered the Flower Space Cafe amidst the floral sea, true to its name, a coffee shop nestled among the flowers. Enjoy the view of the flower sea while sipping afternoon tea, indulging in a moment soaked in floral fragrance.
🌊【Zhangjiagang Bay】: The new landmark of the harbor city
I've seen this metallic fish basket-shaped structure countless times, and finally, I have the chance to get up close and personal with it~
Zhangjiagang Bay is the last bay where the Yangtze River flows into the sea. The mighty Yangtze rushes into the ocean, creating a uniquely beautiful riverscape.
PS: There are many attractions inside, so it's recommended to take the shuttle bus for convenience, and you can spend the whole day here.
🏠【Ming and Qing Garden】: Not far from Zhangjiagang Bay, accompanied by the river, there is a magnificent group of Hui-style architecture—Ming and Qing Garden. Hidden among the woods and surrounded by green waters, Ming and Qing Garden has a history of hundreds of years. Ancient buildings, wood carvings, brick carvings, and stone inscriptions from the Ming and Qing dynasties have been preserved and passed down to this day.
People who love to drink might have heard of Shazhou Youhuang, a century-old famous brand and a local brand of Zhangjiagang.
🍷【Zhangjiagang Shazhou Youhuang Wine Culture Park】:
Centered around Suzhou-style yellow wine culture, the entire culture park features a library, amusement park, yellow wine town, aged wine cellar, museum, and more, offering a full day's worth of exploration.
The culture park has no admission fee, but to enter the museum, wine cellar, and other places for tours and fun, you need to purchase tickets. The attractions inside are definitely worth the ticket price. For example, at the Shazhou Youhuang Museum, not only can you learn about Chinese wine culture, but you can also see various wine vessels, broadening your knowledge. At the same time, the dreamy space created with mirrors and bead curtains is perfect for taking amazing photos. The aged wine cellar and underground wine cellar, with tens of thousands of wine jars on display, are quite spectacular, and the strong aroma of wine gets you tipsy before you even drink. In the handcraft brewing workshop, you can also learn about the brewing process of Shazhou Youhuang, where the rigorous and systematic procedure is eye-opening. In the yellow wine town, you can taste various delicious foods, such as drag-stove cakes, yellow wine milk tea, yellow wine coffee, and more, all of which are not to be missed~

The landlady is very nice~~~ The rooms are large. There's also a very pretty Instagram-worthy swimming pool, perfect for taking photos. You can rent an entire building with friends and stay for a couple of beautiful days ^_^
Of course, we also visited other interesting places in Zhangjiagang, which I will detail in my second article! Stay tuned~~~
The May Day holiday won't be crowded, Suzhou is a great off-the-beaten-path destination for families with kids!
Oh my, the spring in Suzhou and Hangzhou is simply stunning! We are so blessed to live in Hangzhou! Of course, the spring in Suzhou is not to be missed either!
This time we drove to Suzhou and brought little Oscar, a super animal enthusiast, with us. We visited the Suzhou Zoo and it was full of surprises! For friends who are in Suzhou or planning to travel there during the May Day holiday, I highly recommend taking your kids to if you have the time!
It's not just a zoo with a variety of animals, what surprised me even more was the beautiful environment! 'Forest Animal World' truly lives up to its name! Now the roses are blooming splendidly, and the whole park is filled with the essence of spring. You can also go boating on the lake, enjoy the spring scenery with swans and pelicans, and it's incredibly comfortable to walk around with kids here!
Here comes the Suzhou Forest Animal World travel tips! You can follow this route: Aviary → Herbivore Area → Pet Paradise (Urban Ranch) → Carnivore Area → Habitat Pavilion → Boat Ride. The natural environment in the park is amazing, perfect for picnics and even camping! The ticket price is 60 yuan per person (free for children under 1.4 meters or under 6 years old).
There's also an event happening recently, and the little calves have come here to enjoy the spring too! In this urban ranch, children can interact with the little calves, feed them grass, listen to the music that cows love, play sandbag tossing games, and even experience milking! By participating in games and interactions on-site, collecting stamps, you can enter a lucky draw and win small gifts! There's also an amazing photo spot set against the backdrop of blue skies and white clouds on the big grassland, taking pictures with the happy and contented cows is just perfect! The kids are having so much fun!
Huangsipu Ecological Park is extremely beautiful
📷 Huangsipu Ecological Park is not only a 'feng shui treasure land', but also a great place for spring outings.
📷 Built along the river, Huangsipu Ecological Park boasts expansive landscapes with lawns, lakes, forests, and more. It's very suitable for holiday weekends, and the lake is truly beautiful, making for lovely photographs.
📷 Here, you can rent bicycles and electric cars, which are two options for enjoying a ride and the breeze in comfort.
📷 Oh, and there's a Wheat Field Coffee inside, where sitting and enjoying the view is also very pleasant.
📷 I really recommend visiting this park, with free admission 🎫 and free parking 🅿️~
