Service was good. Staff helped me get my door unlocked upon arrival. Room was very clean and updated. Weren’t much in amenities but I was only there to spend a night and after a long day of traveling this room was just fine for me. Disappointed in the “breakfast” that was supposed to be included. The staff said it was because of Covid but other places I have stayed have lifted restrictions to serving a breakfast. All they had was a table blocking the entrance to the dining area with bottles of water and a pre-packaged sweet roll (that was very tasty). I didn’t expect a gourmet meal, but was looking forward to a bowl of cereal and some orange juice before I headed off for a full day of traveling.

Would definitely stay here again the room was super clean and smelled welcoming. The property was well kept throughout the hotel and the front desk crew were all very nice people. Parking was free and lot well lit also very nice to be located near the highway.
Courtyard Birmingham Homewood

My husband and I struggle to find a hotel with consistently good service in or near downtown Birmingham. I regularly take early morning flights to see my mother and we live an hour away. I don't drive well in the dark so we stay near the airport for a quick early morning ride. This hotel nearly met and even exceeded out standards on many fronts. We love having the balcony to get fresh air. Far too many people -- even ones who smoke outdoors -- leave the smell of cigarettes in hotel rooms and it's not helpful to anyone who is allergic to smoke like I am. This was a very clean room with fresh air and I loved the upgrade to a suite. The downsides? Well, the woman working at the eating area needed help. My food was room temperature by the time I got it. I didn't complain because she was clearly overwhelmed. Also, the refrigerator in my room was so high, the yogurt I got to eat the next morning was rock hard! Thankfully, the front desk person let me switch it out. But all in all, this is an excellent hotel. I even loved the sounds of the children playing in the pool. You will feel safe here and there are lots of dining options nearby should you not want to pay for the food which is a bit wee, or high, like most hotel food. Still the service was great. My hats off to the workers in this hotel for dealing well with what most businesses are dealing with: small, overworked staffs.
Super 8 by Wyndham Homewood Birmingham Area

The view out of the window was looking at shrubs and garbage. The ”Breakfast” consisted of an automat for instant coffee, a fruit juice automat with syrup, and a tablet full of ”old” mini chocolate chip muffins. No place to sit and dirty floors. I never saw anyone having anything from there. The Hair dryer worked for 2 minutes and quit and so did the wall-mout air conditioner. No closet to hang your clothes. The super dirty smoke detector at the ceiling. SUPER OVERPRICED STAY, THE WORST VIEW OUT OF THE ROOM EVER, AND THE WORST BREAKFAST EVER. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Homewood, AL

Clean, updated (white paint, new furniture, new beds, plenty of power outlets), nice decor. The outdoor pool was a hit with kids. Located a few minutes away from a Walmart and food options. Free breakfast was OK. We got an early check-in. Wasn't recognized as a Radisson Rewards member so no benefits. But otherwise a solid but not a memorable choice (which might be a good thing).
