Hard Rock Hotel Marbella – Puerto Banús
4.2/5122 Reviews
This hotel does a really good job of capturing the “Hard Rock” vibe so if you’re into that you’ll enjoy your stay at this property. Lots of memorabilia dotted around, great music and some lovely touches around the hotel. We stayed in a deluxe room which was small but furnished to a good standard with a very comfy bed. Bathroom was well equipped and the balcony was a decent size. Jukebox feature on the TV is excellent and allows you to get the party started before you go out or continue it after hours in your room. Having YouTube on the TV is handy too. The pools were good, there’s 2 pretty large ones and they look great during the day and night. The rooftop deck is quite chilled, it has a bar and an infinity pool with beds to suit everyone really, lots of variety so standard cushioned beds and lower body shaped beds. There are several “Bali beds” that come with a 150 Euro minimum spend. Sounds like alot but the food & drink isn’t cheap so can be done relatively easily if you plan to stay at the pool all day and have lunch. The pools are shallow but a good size and the infinity pool offers a brilliant view over the second pool area. The second pool area features a stage and DJ booth at the top of the pool and is louder. The pool parties that Hard Rock offer are held here during the day as well so bear that in mind when selecting your bed. There is an “Eden Cafe” in this area offering burgers and the like during the day and the main “Sessions” restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner too if you book half board. We booked bed & breakfast so didn’t eat dinner at the property. We did have lunch on our first afternoon at the Eden cafe and it was very good. The breakfast offers an excellent selection & its tasty. They also have a musicians playing a different instrument each day on the outdoor terrace which is a nice touch. The bar area in the lobby lacks atmosphere and is a little on the slow side to get a drink. The cocktails are good though and its worthwhile having a drink there, especially if a live band is on. Service at the hotel was very good overall and we very much enjoyed our stay. The bellhops in particular are excellent. They provided us with a “courtesy room” on checkout day (we had a late flight) which was a nice touch after having checked out already and been out all day. The location of the hotel was further out than we thought and required you to either walk through a large, unkept subway or walk down narrow busy roads with several hills. The subway route is best and takes around 15 mins to Porto Banus but is not ideal at night. We had no issues and saw no undesirables but I do think Hard Rock could do more to make that subway more inviting (clean it, add their branding, have music playing etc). I don’t think they own it but perhaps they should take ownership of how it looks at the very least as it could quite easily put some people off staying at the hotel. The “Casino Marbella” is attached to the hotel. It’s a nice Casino but lacks atmosphere. You also need your passport to enter (I had to go back to the room) so bear that in mind too. There is a handy supermarket opposite the hotel that has a great selection of snacks, ice cream, toiletries, booze etc plus it’s really cheap. There’s a lovely little bar called “Park Lane Sports Bar” that is family run and really charming. The drinks are cheap and the people who run it are very friendly. The resident dog “Lolo” is also quite a character and really makes the bar. We also ate at a lovely little Spanish restaurant called “Noto” - the prawns, pizza and service was excellent. There are more luxurious hotels to stay in Marbella and hotels in nicer locations but for a party vibe, good food & drink, strong pool decks and friendly service the Hard Rock is a solid choice.
Ibis Styles Sevilla City Santa Justa

This hotel was the nicest, most chic hotel I've ever stayed in! I would come back just to stay in the hotel. All ibis Styles have a unique look and feel to them, and this one was perfect. Very stylish but in an accessible and comfortable way, I loved the mural by the lifts and all the cute scallop details. My friend and I stayed in a twin room with 2 single beds which was fairly compact but well presented. Our room faced the main road so we could hear a little traffic noise throughout the night but nothing too bad. Walk in shower was huge, although we did have the smell of sewage come up on occasion. Our stay had breakfast included, which we wouldn't have booked if there was an option without, but the buffet options were very varied (suitable vegetarian options) and it set us up well for each day of exploring the city. The rooftop pool was on the smaller side but perfectly fine to use, if a little on the colder side as not heated. Plenty of sun loungers and parasols to go around, with a really large covered seating area adjacent to the pool and next to the bar as well. There is a courtyard on the ground floor too that was really pretty to sit in. My friend and I had 4 days in Seville which was the perfect length of time to explore. The hotel is a little out of the main hustle and bustle of the city, but a 20min walk will take you right into the thick of it. On our last day we hired docking bikes which was such a good idea - Seville felt very safe to cycle in as there are dedicated cycle lanes and also a good way to explore the Maria Luisa park and ride along the river. There is a docking station right opposite the hotel. We took the bus to and from the airport which was very convenient, the buses ran quite frequently and it cost €4 each way so relatively cheap too. Overall, the hotel was really great and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a Seville city break!

Old Town
Stayed for two nights with my husband as part of my 50th birthday celebrations! Well restored and looked after building. Very clean, comfy and spacious with a great roof terrace. Staff were very helpful. Quiet building and street but very close to the esplanade / pier where we watched “the kids” jumping off into the sea and the amazing sunset. Cadiz is a lovely city with some lovely parks and a beautiful cathedral. It’s also small enough to walk around quite easily. We had lunch in the market, which I recommend, and cooked our own food in the evening for a change. I'd also recommend a visit to the camera obscura. Had a great stay!

A very complete hotel, with indoor and outdoor pools, free spa, entertainment (very simple), the apartments are up-to-date with all the details, they are spacious, new and clean and you have a butler service via WhatsApp that works very well. The staff very friendly. There is free parking in the area without problems. The location is close to the Santa Ana area and close to supermarkets and restaurants. The hotel itself has a supermarket and restaurant that I did not visit. The only thing I would change is that the arrival has to be after 4:00 p.m. and the departure before 10:00 a.m., so you lose a lot of time during your stay.
Holiday Inn Express Malaga Airport

The hotel is located just 100dyers away from the airport but if you are with luggage, you will have to take a taxi that will cost you anywhere between 15 and 20 euro. If it’s Saturday evening you will pay 20. In fact, it’s the most expensive taxi in the world, as we paid 20 euro for a dive of 1000 meters, and that’s with official taxi ! Completely rip off so if you can, just avoid staying at the airport hotel. Regarding this hotel, it’s of very poor quality. They claim that windows are sound proof but it’s not the case. The hotel is located between two very busy highways, so the noise is like you are siting on the side of a highway. The beds are very uncomfortable and pillows are impossible to sleep, the management Shiism try to sleep on this pillow one night and treat a neck pain next morning. The room is very hot and air is dry ( even if you try to control he temperature in the room ) it doesn’t se to work and you can not open the window for fresh air because of the enormous noise that comes from highway. So either bring the earplugs with you and ask the opposite side ( not facing the highway) The only positive point: the rooms are quite spacious and the shower is ok too ( even though it just has a curtain instead of normal door you would expect in the shower) Would not recommend staying there, and for the price of 20 euros for taxi you are better off staying at a better hotel closer to Malaga, with more comfort.

This is a lovely hotel…. Sp pretty with columns and alcoves. For the first night I booked dinner B&B….. the food was delicious! Dinner was 5 courses but included the best Broccoli au Gratin I ever tasted and included a glass of red wine. I expected the wine to be tough but it was actually very good! I did not try the open air swimming pool but in this heat it was an option … nearby beach was crowded and with fascinating container port nearby I found it hard to believe the water was bathing quality! 8€ taxi ride from bus station. Staff were unfailingly helpful and courteous. Next time I will ask for a room with a mountain-view. I stayed a second night … trip charged me a higher price? I also took their Day Excursion to Morocco…€72 but add on €40 for tips! It included return ferry, transport, guide and Moroccan lunch ( delicious) … driver, his friend, guide and me on a 32 seater bus! Obligatory “buy a carpet” talk at “craft school” ( Omg I bought a carpet!) … hold out for the trinkets shop on the way out!!! 4 hours to get back through customs … queues…. But it was fascinating v and an unexpected glimpse into border mentality. 4 layers … Moroccan military check, Moroccan police check, Spanish police check and Covid certificate check and final layer …. Spanish guards emptying and checking every car and finding something to throw away from everyone!!!! Two days feels like a wonderful week!

Casco Antiguo
Breakfast is 5.5 euros, buffet style, pretty good. There is a kitchen, a laundry room, and clothes can be hung on the roof. Actually, it is basically the same as the photo, the facilities are perfect, and the style is very simple. Front desk information was great. Although set up for 10 people, there are separate bathrooms with several sinks, two bathrooms and two showers. Outside there is a balcony and lounge chairs. The third floor is the rooftop, which is very comfortable, you can read a book and rest and watch the scenery. Close to various attractions, basically walking.

We spend 3 nights in this hotel. We wanted to visit Gibraltar for 2 days, but staying there was very expensive so this was a cheaper option. By car it took us 30 minutes to drive to the border of Gibraltar. The hotel looked grand from the outside. Like something from a Hollywood movie. The garden also was nice. But there was almost nobody. There were hardly any guests this time of year. It felt we had the hotel for ourselves. We even had to collect the key for the indoor swimmingpool at the reception to open the door. Inside the hotel and the room were not that grand or goodlooking. Especially the carpet looked dirty. Our room was ok, it was spacious but we don't see the 4 stars in it. The hotel is not in town center, it could be walked but the path was dark. We spend one night for dinner in the restaurant and that was the best experience. Just like breakfast the food was very good and the service great. Thanks to Alvaro for the personal touch! We asked for advice at the reception and we got friendly and good advice. A good plus is the free parking for our rental car.

Can’t fault this small, friendly, quiet resort. Received a warm welcome and the apartment was ideal. Accommodation was large and everything spotless. The on site restaurant was superb. There’s not much within walking distance of the resort. We enjoyed the quiet and had the most relaxing holiday…. Just what we needed. Liked how environmentally aware the resort seemed to be too. We are already looking at booking again for next year.

The most bare hotel I have been to. Kettles need to be rented for a charge + deposit. There are no cups or cutlery in the room. Mini fridge is empty. I think I can understand why the hotel went for such measures given the crowd that is staying there - too many wild screaming Britons. Breakfast tables have nothing but a cloth. Lounge chairs are bare plastic making them very uncomfortable to use. Most of the chairs are in fact not available for use because guests dump their towels to reserve them and then not show up for hours. Staff allow this behaviour. The loud entertainment went on till 23:30 (accompanied by partying guests next door) so if you want to sleep any time before that - forget it, it's like trying to sleep inside a night club. Beach towels are not provided, bathroom towels cannot be taken out so if you didn't bring your own - tough. It is a beach property but the beach is private and hotel guests do not get any discounts. The shower was hot and had good pressure but there was hair left in the drain. Beds seemed good at first but I woke up with back pain. Went up to take a look at the roof terrace which looked lovely but we didn't stay for a drink. All in all the hotel was not for us and certainly would not recommend it if you are looking for a relaxing place.
