GGuest UserEverything was great. You don't even have to leave the JR station building to check in on the 4th floor. The onsen on the 6th floor was quite nice, though it could get a bit crowded during peak hours. The Blue Sky Lounge on the same floor was excellent, offering drinks, snacks, and a relaxing space. Breakfast had a good variety, and all the dishes were quite refined.

LLeCobbAs a backpacker, the journey to the hotel was challenging. I chose this one because it was the closest to Hakusan-Hoko Temple, which I absolutely had to see for its magnificent three-story pagoda and all its surroundings.
Arriving from Aomori, I couldn't leave until after 4 p.m. Having not paid attention, I discovered that there are very few buses between Suwanotaira Station and the hotel, the last one leaving at 5:30 p.m. So, I decided to walk with my 25 kg packs. Walking in the dark through the forest with my small flashlight, I heard a dog barking incessantly near a farm. Suddenly, there was a loud noise in a tree: a bear came down very quickly and started growling. I was terrified, stepped back, and used a bell to scare it away. This happened a five-minute walk from the hotel.
The receptionist was surprised but took my story seriously, asking me for the exact location. I hadn't eaten since morning, and despite the kitchens being closed, she offered to make me onigiri and sake. They were the best I've had since arriving in Japan.
I particularly enjoyed the hotel's onsen for relaxing after the long walk. It was my first time sleeping in a traditional Japanese room, and I loved the experience. Kimonos are available in all sizes.
Thinking I could finally go to sleep peacefully, my phone received two national alerts. I had barely started reading them when a major earthquake struck. The entire room began to shake. I was worried because I had never experienced anything like it before. The alarms in my room and throughout the hotel started going off. The receptionist came to me several times to check if I was alright and to tell me not to use the elevator. The cleaning staff also came to check if the water was turned off in my bathroom. The alarms went off again at 6:00 a.m. and then 8:00 a.m.
The receptionist came to my room to offer to drive me to the temple free of charge, something I had originally planned to do on foot, and then to take me from the temple to Hachinohe Station, because due to the earthquake, all trains between Suwanotaira and Hachinohe Stations had been canceled, as well as the Shinkansen trains departing from Hachinohe that I was originally supposed to take to Tsuruoka.
I am extremely grateful for the support and kindness of the receptionist. She took care of me without me even asking. Thanks also to Yukuri Okobo for her kindness and for driving me to the temple and then to Hachinohe Station.
Despite these very unusual circumstances, I highly recommend this hotel! You couldn't ask for a better welcome as a foreigner, and the rooms and onsen are superb! Arigatō Gozaimasu! 😊

11381600****The hotel staff were incredibly friendly. The Hakkoda Ropeway was canceled, and we were planning to take a public bus to Sukayu Onsen ourselves. When the staff learned of our plans, they proactively arranged a shuttle bus for us. We also found out about a snow hiking tour at Sukayu Onsen on Xiaohongshu and decided last minute to join it. A special thanks to the front desk attendant, OMA SAN, who helped us communicate with the hiking tour guide, allowing us to successfully join the tour and avoid any regrets on this trip.

GGuest UserMarch 26th 2025 - Japan had Gale wind advisory which means the wind gusts were strong enough to cause JR and other rail services to be impeded by delays. Unfortunately this delay caused us 8-10 hours of our time. We had no option but to stay the night in Aomori as past midnight there are no public transportation services other than taxi. From Shin Aomori to this hotel it cost us just around 1000 yen which was well worth it - considering it was cold and windy.
The Hotel is located about 5-8 minute walk away from 7/11 and a Lawson, maybe 10-12 minutes from the Family Mart. This is a Port city so it is unique in a way I cannot describe. Its quiet, yet there are karaoke bars and regular bars open well past 2AM - this is different than most cities in Japan.
The taxi service here is strong; we used Go Taxi. Uber eats is possible here as well as we ordered around 12:30 am and got our food within an hour from order time - everything made fresh and the restaurant was slightly further than found in bigger cities.
The hotel’s amenities were outstanding- all sorts of skin care, the standard Japan amenities (comb, toothbrush, razor, head band for when you wash your face, cotton swabs, you name it they had it. Well i mean to convey the fact that even higher end hotels dont carry nearly as much.
The staff was extremely helpful and efficient. Used Papago to translate and communicate and there was no issue.
Last minute booking 70$ and I was impressed considering ive stayed in hotels triple the price with less room, poor cleanliness, and overall disappointment. Not this hotel, extremely great and happy my fate led me to this hotel.

CCengbaozhuThis hotel is an absolute gem! I loved it. It's super convenient for getting around. You can take a bus from the airport directly to the hotel, and it's not far from the JR station – just a pleasant 6-7 minute walk. What I particularly loved this time was the room type I booked. To get a 40-square-meter room at this price in Japan is incredibly good value for money! Waking up to the snowy scenery outside my window in winter was just beautiful. There are lots of places to eat around the hotel, and there's a Lawson downstairs with direct access using your room key. Aomori had a few things I wish I'd seen or done more of, so I'll definitely be back next year, and I'll definitely stay here again!

I love the idea that you can choose the cleaning or not cleaning on the television.
You can also see the status of the laundry on the television.
The location is abit far from Aomori station but I think it’s okay. There is a direct bus from Aomori airport to the hotel.
There is a convenience store nearby.

JJ. SimonLess than 5 mins walk to and from JR Shin-Aomori Station (East exit) which also houses the Aomori Tourist Information Centre.
I chose to stay near this JR Shin-Aomori station instead of JR Aomori station as the shinkansen doesn’t go to JR Aomori station. I need to take the shinkansen early in the morning on the following day to go to Akita and then transfer to the Akita shinkansen to head to my next accommodation in Tazawako.
From JR Shin-Aomori station, it’s convenient to take limited express trains direct to Hirosaki station to visit Hirosaki Castle and Park. It’s also a short journey to JR Aomori station which is where the city centre of Aomori is located.
Other than the F&B shops within Shin-Aomori station which close very early around 8pm if I recall correctly, there aren’t any F&B shops around the hotel.
Both Family Mart and Lawsons convenience stores are located a few mins walk from the South exit of the train station which is located on the other end of the station.

FFengyuezhibianI've long admired the reputation of the Hoshino Resorts, and this was my first time staying at one of their properties. The ”Kai” series is supposedly a mid- to high-end resort hotel specializing in hot springs, but overall, I was a bit disappointed.
First, the hotel's location is quite secluded, in the Owani Onsen area of Aomori Prefecture. It's relatively close to Hirosaki City, a mere 10-minute train ride away, but it's quite a distance from Shin-Aomori Station, the Shinkansen terminus, taking nearly an hour. This late September visit to Owani Onsen might have been off-season, but the temperature was pleasant, the crowds were sparse, and the hot spring village surrounding the station was tranquil. If you make a reservation in advance, the hotel's shuttle bus will pick you up at Owani Onsen Station, a roughly 10-minute ride away (though I later discovered the hotel is also a 20-minute walk, which is still quite close).
But upon entering the hotel, the popularity of the Hoshino Resorts became apparent. The lobby was nearly full upon check-in, instantly diminishing the sense of tranquility. The hotel is small, but with 40 rooms, it feels much more commercialized than a traditional Japanese onsen hotel. There are no private baths, and the public baths aren't rotated, and the bathing environment is quite ordinary, with absolutely no special features. This kind of arrangement shouldn't be found in a high-end hotel focused on hot springs.
I stayed two nights, with two nights and four meals. Meals rotate, as is typical at most hot spring hotels. However, the first day's meal was better than the second. Overall, the dining experience was only mid-range for this price range. Perhaps due to its proximity to the northern waters, the sashimi was decent, but the selection was mediocre. The other food was even less memorable.

GGuest UserWe stayed at Asamushi Onsen (about 20mins drive from Aomori downtown) as part of our 2025 Spring trip to Aomori area, and booked Tstsumikan Onsen hotel to stay for the night. The hotel location is great. I think all guest rooms come with open ocean view. No private hot spring tub in the guest room but the large gender-specific hot spring pools are open privately to the overnight stay guests from 8PM to the next morning. The stay comes with 2 meals. The food is good and the dinner was served directly in the guest room. The next morning Japanese breakfast was served in the great tatami dinning room, and the breakfast package even comes with free coffee in the gift shop café after the meal. The staff are warm, and the service is good. My recommendation to this hotel come with no hesitation.
