We stayed at Dormy Inn Aomori in a twin bed room and had a very pleasant experience. We were assigned a high-floor room on the 12th floor with a beautiful ocean view, which made the stay even more enjoyable.
The room was spacious, and the beds were large and very comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep. The hotel is well-equipped with excellent hot spring facilities, including both indoor and outdoor baths as well as a sauna — a perfect way to relax after a day of exploring Aomori.
Hotel breakfast is delicious and many choices.
We also appreciated the practical amenities provided. The laundry machines are free to use, with a 30-minute wash cycle. The dryer costs only 100 yen for 20 minutes, which is very convenient for longer stays. The room also features a large, modern TV, and the hair dryer provided is a premium Refa brand, which was a nice touch.
Overall, a very comfortable and convenient stay with great onsen facilities and thoughtful amenities. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Aomori.

GGiselle LuRight above Aomori Station, this hotel's location is super convenient, with direct access to JR from the lobby. It's often fully booked, so the hot spring is usually quite busy no matter when you go, but they do have real apples in the onsen! There's a hot bath and a slightly cooler one, both very comfortable. The spa, yoga, and dining are mostly extra charges, but there are plenty of activities. The rooms don't have bathtubs, which makes sense since everyone's expected to use the large hot spring. The facilities and equipment are quite new, the bed is very comfortable, and you can see all the best parts of Aomori from your window, including the bay and the bridge.

LLeCobbAs a backpacker, the journey to the hotel was challenging. I chose this one because it was the closest to Hakusan-Hoko Temple, which I absolutely had to see for its magnificent three-story pagoda and all its surroundings.
Arriving from Aomori, I couldn't leave until after 4 p.m. Having not paid attention, I discovered that there are very few buses between Suwanotaira Station and the hotel, the last one leaving at 5:30 p.m. So, I decided to walk with my 25 kg packs. Walking in the dark through the forest with my small flashlight, I heard a dog barking incessantly near a farm. Suddenly, there was a loud noise in a tree: a bear came down very quickly and started growling. I was terrified, stepped back, and used a bell to scare it away. This happened a five-minute walk from the hotel.
The receptionist was surprised but took my story seriously, asking me for the exact location. I hadn't eaten since morning, and despite the kitchens being closed, she offered to make me onigiri and sake. They were the best I've had since arriving in Japan.
I particularly enjoyed the hotel's onsen for relaxing after the long walk. It was my first time sleeping in a traditional Japanese room, and I loved the experience. Kimonos are available in all sizes.
Thinking I could finally go to sleep peacefully, my phone received two national alerts. I had barely started reading them when a major earthquake struck. The entire room began to shake. I was worried because I had never experienced anything like it before. The alarms in my room and throughout the hotel started going off. The receptionist came to me several times to check if I was alright and to tell me not to use the elevator. The cleaning staff also came to check if the water was turned off in my bathroom. The alarms went off again at 6:00 a.m. and then 8:00 a.m.
The receptionist came to my room to offer to drive me to the temple free of charge, something I had originally planned to do on foot, and then to take me from the temple to Hachinohe Station, because due to the earthquake, all trains between Suwanotaira and Hachinohe Stations had been canceled, as well as the Shinkansen trains departing from Hachinohe that I was originally supposed to take to Tsuruoka.
I am extremely grateful for the support and kindness of the receptionist. She took care of me without me even asking. Thanks also to Yukuri Okobo for her kindness and for driving me to the temple and then to Hachinohe Station.
Despite these very unusual circumstances, I highly recommend this hotel! You couldn't ask for a better welcome as a foreigner, and the rooms and onsen are superb! Arigatō Gozaimasu! 😊

11381600****The hotel staff were incredibly friendly. The Hakkoda Ropeway was canceled, and we were planning to take a public bus to Sukayu Onsen ourselves. When the staff learned of our plans, they proactively arranged a shuttle bus for us. We also found out about a snow hiking tour at Sukayu Onsen on Xiaohongshu and decided last minute to join it. A special thanks to the front desk attendant, OMA SAN, who helped us communicate with the hiking tour guide, allowing us to successfully join the tour and avoid any regrets on this trip.

GGuest UserWe were two people. The room we stayed at was not big. If you have two suitcases it will be hard to open up both of them at the same time. We didn’t have suitcases, and therefore the space was not a problem for us. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. I lost my gloves at a bus, and they helped me to get them back. You also got apple juice as a welcome drink at the front desk (very nice apple juice!). We used baggage storage after checking out, which was no problem. The room was very clean. When we were there they had an eco plan, which was that the room got cleaned only once at our 4 night stay, but could get towels whenever we wanted. We though it was good from the environment perspective (but we decided to not have any cleaning at all).
Overall I though our stay at this hotel was very good.

LLily, from Hong KongThis backpacker hostel boasts a superb location, just a five-minute walk from the Towada Lake Restaurateur bus stop, making it convenient for exploring and taking photos at the lake. The hostel features a beautiful exterior and comfortable interior with ample shared space. The dormitories have curtains for privacy on each bed and tables and chairs for guests' use. The owners are friendly and helpful; the elderly gentleman, though not fluent in English, is very accommodating, while the younger manager speaks fluent English, making communication easy. The hostel is very affordable, including dinner and breakfast, and the food is decent, with a comfortable restaurant environment. Guests can also purchase discounted tickets to the Towada-so onsen (hot spring) next door, making it an excellent value.

GGuest UserWhenever I visit Japan, I tend to book a Daiwa Roynet Hotel. Over the past few years, I've traveled to many cities from south to north, and there's almost always a Daiwa Roynet. This particular one is a bit of a walk from Aomori Station, about 7-8 minutes, but it's conveniently located on the main street.
We booked a Deluxe Double Room and stayed for 3 nights. The room size was perfect; there was plenty of space near the entrance to open up our large suitcases. It was a corner room, so we even had a window with a sea view.
On our second night, we were lucky enough to catch the warm-up fireworks display for the Nebuta Festival right from our hotel room, which was an incredible experience.
Another highlight was the massage chair in the room – that was a huge bonus for us! It was easily the most-used amenity during our 4-day stay. Highly recommend! We'll definitely book this hotel again on our next trip to Aomori.

DDevI stayed at this place while hiking Michinoku trail. This place is right next to the train station Tanesashi Kaigan. Very clean and well maintained place. The owner lady is very sweet, kind and helpful. This is a fantastic place to stay, no doubt. Dinner and breakfast are sumptuous, with a variety of dishes. It is a short walk to the sea shore as well. I know basic Japanese, and I have lived in Japan before. Therefore it is easier for me to stay in minshukus. However, it is not difficult for foreigners to stay in this place at all. The lady owner is very helpful. I will not hesitate to stay here again when I visit this area. I highly recommend this place.

GGuest UserThe hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Aomori Station and isn't on the main commercial street, but it's just around the corner from it. It's very close to Hirota Shrine, almost directly across the street. As soon as you enter the hotel, you're greeted by the scent of apples. There are apple models on display on the first floor, and the elevators are decorated with various apple illustrations and names. The breakfast selection is quite limited. While there are a few local specialties, the overall variety of dishes is too small. The scallop meat was very tiny and shredded, not whole pieces, putting it on par with the breakfast offerings at budget chain hotels.
