I visited Shin-Yamaguchi after a few days in Fukuoka. The weather was still cold, and it rained a little. From the station, just cross the street, and you’ll arrive at the hotel. It’s about a three-minute walk if you have luggage. Next to the hotel, there’s a 7-Eleven and many izakayas. The manager greeted me warmly, and the staff were extremely friendly. They would greet guests as they walked in, making me feel very welcome. Welcome drinks and coffee are available until midnight—I loved their lemon water! You can also use the library/cafeteria for work or reading, which is quite convenient. Amenities are placed on the first floor next to the elevator. Breakfast tickets are available, with multiple time slots to choose from. The room size is big for the price. The bathroom is compact, but I had no issues enjoying a bath. The only inconvenience was the lack of a remote control to adjust the air-conditioner’s wind direction. There are two washing machines and two dryers on the fourth floor, both of which can be connected via an app. If you don’t have coins, you can pay through the app with a credit card, and it will show a timer for when your laundry is done. The washing machine is easy to use, but the dryer took a bit long. Ice is also available on this floor. There are no complimentary bottled waters in the room, so I often went down to the first floor for lemon water and coffee. Breakfast was more abundant than I expected. Since this is a chain hotel, I didn’t expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised by the selection. The menu seemed to change daily, and I really enjoyed having breakfast here. Definitely worth the price. If I visit Yamaguchi again, I would definitely book this hotel!

This is my first time to write a review. I like this kind of authentic hotel. Although there are only four places in the hot spring, there are not many people in the hotel. It is very comfortable to enjoy it alone when there is no one. It is worth mentioning that there is a happy hour from 6 to 9 in the evening, where alcoholic drinks can be freely mixed, which is another experience.

This hotel has a great location. From the rooms, lobby, and restaurant, you can see the ocean, Tsunoshima Island, and Tsunoshima Bridge, and the views are amazing. We were also able to take a walk on the beach right in front of the hotel. We were very satisfied with the delicious buffet, which had a wide variety of options for both dinner and breakfast. The large public bath was amazing, with an open-air bath where you could watch the sunset. In the evening, we were taken on a night tour of Tsunoshima Island in a minibus. (Free of charge) Next time, we would like to go swimming in the sea in the summer.

But if you dare not go to the big bath, you can pay to go to the private bath to take a bath. The sunset is beautiful!

The facilities were old, but the room was very clean. The staff at the front desk and in the dining area were very kind. I called the front desk to confirm check-in time, but they were short-staffed and did not answer, but other than that it was perfect. I stayed alone on business. My reservation for one person was not communicated, so I was charged the hot spring tax for two people. When I explained the situation, they corrected it to one person, but I would have liked them to respond more clearly based on the guest name at the time of booking. There is a problem with trip.com's reservation specifications and I would like them to improve it.

Everything is good. The hotel has complete service facilities, including a laundry room. I finally washed and dried the clothes from the previous week. It is a little far from JR Shimonoseki Station. After exiting Shimonoseki Station, walk to the second-floor overpass until you get off the vertical elevator at the end and turn right at the next intersection. There is a local supermarket across the road on the right side of the hotel, which is quite rich. The night-time ramen 🍜 of the hotel is quite good.

JR car walk to the hotel is only 10~15 minutes, so easy to find. The main entrance is facing the traffic light. It has a 300-year history, so traditional style. In the lobby, you must change indoor slippers first, and when you go out, the waiter will immediately take out the guests' shoes to replace you. The whole building has been appreciated. Value, there is an orthodox Japanese garden, there are a lot of koi fish in the pool, and you can see the maple leaves. We can enjoy the garden on the terrace of our room. The bathroom in the room has a wooden bathtub. Dinner and breakfast are eaten in the room ... Our housekeeper is very professional, Also introduced a variety of food ... and free beer, Coke is provided. There is electric heating in the central location of the room, thick quilt and heating ... But leaving this fan will be very cold ... This is the old building. At that time, the technology was not so advanced. The hot spring pool is not big, but there are two in the wind. Service was really first rate. Despite our not speaking Japanese, the staff were always patient and helpful. They guided us in adapting to the Ryokan customs and provided very personalized service without being intrusive. The gardens and facilities are well maintained and create a serene experience.
