This is a gem of a restaurant in the heart of Frankfurt, which serves authentic north-east-African (Eritrean, to be precise) cuisine. The food is super - richly aromatic, freshly made, deeply spicy if you want it, and very authentic. Dishes are not provided, and silverware only upon request. Instead - traditionally - the toppings are served on sourdough "crepes" the size of a platter, and you tear off a corner of your "plate" and scoop up your chosen topping from the platter or dish with your bread and fingers. (Go ahead, lick them off - you'll want to!) The ambiance is - at least in the front room - quaint. The benches are covered in cowhides (with the fur on) covered in vinyl. Unusual, but unique in a charming way. Don't let that put you off - the food makes up for everything. In the back room - which requires phoning ahead - you can sit at low tables, on the floor, and increase the authenticity even more. The staff are all from the Eritrean region, as are many of the customers. I don't know if they serve beer, but I think so. The coffee is good too - African style, of course.
