The Museum of Maritime Affairs of Barcelona (Museu Marítim) has a 75-year history dedicated to the protection and dissemination of marine culture, and the collection of maritime artifacts occupies a significant position in the Mediterranean region. The museum mainly introduces the maritime history of the Catalan region, as well as the history of the Spanish seafaring and the craftsmanship of the shipbuilding at the time. The pavilion was originally built as the Royal Barcelona Shipyard, and is one of the best preserved Gothic-style buildings in the world, and one of the most important symbols of the shipbuilding industry in the Mediterranean region.
