Walking eastward along Prince Street to the end, we came to Carlton Hill. There were two monuments on the hill. One was the National Monument built in 1822 to commemorate the soldiers killed in the Napoleonic War. But the monument only had a huge row of main pillars supporting the beams. It was said that the project was interrupted due to overdraft of the budget, but the semi-finished product became the unique beautiful scenery on the top of Carlton Hill. One is the Nelson Monument, built in memory of Admiral Nelson, and the other is a striking green dome building, the Edinburgh Municipal Observatory. Standing at the top of the hill, looking west, Edinburgh Castle stands tall, looking east, you can see the Atlantic Ocean...
