The dishes were very good especially the curry soup in starter. Nice place to relax : very cosy place and The restaurant is located in the middle of the forest. The check at the end was expensive but we ate very well.

Tasty Brazilian dish on banana leaves. I loved all the food they prepared for us, especially seafood vegetable soup, tofu fish. I don’t remember the other dishes, but they met my taste. Staff was polite.

Being a professional guide/photographer for Rio Photo Guide, I definitely love to tryout new places. I was looking forward for a while to go to Maison VG and had high expectations. It was a true gastronomic heaven! To start, it is located in a eco village in Vargem Grande, quite a drive if you are in Zona Sul, but it is every km worth! Take it as a day trip, combine it with one of the many attractions the region has to offer such as the eco beaches - Grumari and Prainha, Sítio Burlemax or enjoy a day at the waterfalls. The chef and the manager are lovely and the food is sublime! The chef has a Micheline Star, so be prepared for the experience. A franco-azian fusion prepared with organic ingredients from the village's garden. And to make the experience even more complete, you can book one of the well designed suites and stay for breakfast in paradise. Enjoy!!!

I've found Maison VG while mountain biking in the Vargem Grande area. In matter of fact, while climbing the road leading to the restaurant, we were stopped by one neighbour astonished to see bikers on that area, and commented about how great was the food at Maison VG. So during a romantic outing, we went to discover a true pearl. First of all, Jos pointed were to park the car and upon arrival greeted us, after that we were receptioned and served in such a great way that I was surprised to have this kind of reception in a Brazilian restaurant. The only other time was at Oh-Oh Burger in one of my reviews. We were presented with the Menus and I was amazed of the choice and combination of Dutch/Chinese/Thai/European food and Brazilian accents. For entree the Red Curry Fish soup was chosen... I felt in heaven!! The Red Curry was perfectly spicy, chunks of fish completed the experience and the little Cabernet was a perfect match. Next I choosed the Chicken with vegetables Hoisin ans my wife the Porc. Both were trully amazing, flavourful and the porc was cook to perfection, tender and moist. Completing the meal we had a creme brulee made with caipira eggs and one of, if not the best dessert I've ever ate - Dutch Rabanadas Wentelteefjes with Ice cream and jabouticaba sauce. Let's just say that if I knew how good this was... I would ate before and after the meal. It is to lick your dish good!!! The ambience is great as well for a romantic dinner, a small number of tables, great ambient music and you're in the middle of the forest Litteraly. Do I recommend this place??? Well I should shut up and keep this pearl to myself but it is so great that the drive from Rio's Zona Sul is worthy it, and you can also book a room in the same place and avoid the drive back home A MUST SEE AND TRY
