Chongwu Ancient City (1) is situated on the southeast coast of Hui'an County, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. It is near the Taiwan Strait. It was built in 1387 (20 years of Ming Hongwu) by Zhou Dexing, Hou of Jiangxia, to resist Japanese aggressors. It is the most complete T-shaped stone-built ancient city in China. It is also one of the more than 60 fortresses built by the Ming Government to fight against Japanese aggression and is still well preserved in the 10,000-mile coastal area. In 1988, it was listed as the third batch of state key cultural relics protection units by the State Council. It was the first batch of "national defense education base" in Fujian Province, the first batch of "patriotic education base" and "national defense education base" in Quanzhou City. Chongwu Ancient City is located in the prominent coastal area of Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, between Quanzhou Bay and Meizhou Bay. It is located at the southern end of Chongwu Peninsula, 24 kilometers southeast of Hui'an County. It is near the Taiwan Strait, also known as "Lotus Island". It was founded in 1387. It is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction integrating coastal scenery, historical relics, folk customs and sculpture art. It is known as "natural film shed", "Beidaihe in the south". Chongwu Ancient City is the only stone city in Ming Dynasty in China. It is also a relatively complete historical site in the history of China's coastal defense. It is "the key cultural relics protection unit of the whole country".
