I tend to eat here when I visit Arashityama. Whilst they do not have an especially wide menu, what they do do is really tasty (I like the duck with Udon) There's generally a queue so write your name down on the sheet as you walk under the noren (curtain) and chill. The service is friendly and they do appreciate it, if you can use even just a few Japanese words.

Most of the other stores were closed at 1430 when we were looking for lunch. The staff were friendly and spoke basic English, though they were quite busy. We ordered the hot deep fried tofu udon and the duck udon. There were 3 bite size pieces of duck which was overcooked. And the tofu udon had two decent slices. The food wasn't amazing but it was still warm and filling though a little overpriced.
