Crete Castle is a castle in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland, located in the village of Clarence in Montreux, on the shore of Lake Lemans. The village is famous for Jean-Jacques Rousseau's novel New Eloise, a place of adventure for the heroine. He described the "Julie's grove" and showed the charm of natural gardens. Emmanuel Vincent Dubochet built a mansion here, known as Crete Castle, near a dozen beautiful single-family buildings, integrating the house with nature.
