There has been a royal castle on the castle rock since the 12th century. As one of the most important strongholds in the Kingdom of Scotland, it has been involved in many conflicts from the Wars of Scottish Independence in the 14th century to the Jacobite rising of 1745. There have been 26 sieges of the castle in its 1100 year history, making it the most besieged place in Great Britain and one of the most attacked in the world. It is now the second most popular tourist attraction in Scotland, after the National Museum, with 1.78 million visitors in 2017

Edinburgh, a city worth visiting. The castle is on the hillside, very close to the train station and within walking distance. Ctrip ticket purchase is more cost-effective than the official. Scan the QR code of the order directly to enter. It was a pity that it rained on the day I went. It is recommended to rent a guide, otherwise, you will enter the castle and circle around, and you don't know the history. The castle looks at the city of Edinburgh above, and the scenery is good. The next day, at the foot of the mountain, in the evening, the sunset hits the castle above, so beautiful.

Tons to do, after you pay to get in. There are multiple buildings with a variety of informative history within. The Scottish Crown Jewels are inside as well as other valuable Scottish history.Plan for at least 3-4 hours if you really want to appreciate the castle and museums inside. The museums inside are free, included with the cost of the ticket to get inside the castle

Edinburgh Castle isn't just a castle, it's a crown jewel of Scotland perched proudly on Castle Rock. The panoramic views from its battlements are unbeatable, stretching across the city and beyond. Be prepared to be awestruck by its history, architecture, and iconic presence.A Walk Through Time ️The castle boasts a rich tapestry of history, with sections dating back as far as the 12th century. Explore St Margaret's Chapel, one of the oldest surviving religious buildings in Edinburgh. Marvel at the grandeur of the Great Hall, where lavish feasts were once held. Don't miss Mons Meg, a colossal 15th-century cannon, and the One o' Clock Gun, a daily tradition that still booms across the city.**Treasures and Tales **History buffs will love the crown jewels, known as the Honours of Scotland. Immerse yourself in the fascinating stories of sieges and battles that shaped Scotland's past at the National War Museum. Take a guided tour led by a kilted steward, or explore at your own pace with the informative audio guide.**Tips for Your Visit **Tickets are essential, and booking online in advance is highly recommended, especially during peak season. Wear comfortable shoes, as there's a good bit of walking uphill to reach the castle. The climb is worth it for the breathtaking views, but if you have mobility concerns, a courtesy vehicle can take you to the top.**Make it a Full Day! **After exploring the castle, delve deeper into Edinburgh's Old Town. The charming cobbled streets and historic buildings are a delight to wander through. Grab a bite to eat at a cosy pub and enjoy some traditional Scottish fare.#EdinburghCastle #Scotland #HistoryBuff #TravelGram #EpicViews #MustSee
