Yadan landform, is a series of intermittent extension of long strips of mounds and groove spacing distribution of landform, is a wind erosion landform, also called sand erosion dunes or wind erosion dunes, in Uyghur meaning "weather mound groups". Nanbaxian is about 200 kilometers away from Dachaidan Town, which is a relatively large and typical group of Yadan landform groups in the Chaidam Basin. The wind in the Yadan landform area is large, whenever the wind is strong, the sand is flying, the visibility is low, the air flow reflects and refracts on the surface of the mound, resulting in a series of acoustic phenomena, making a strange howling sound, giving people a sense of terror. In the past, locals thought it was a buried ghost howling, Mongolian called "Surum Haq", meaning the devil, so Yadan landform also called the devil city. In the early 1950s, eight female geologists from the south, who were engaged in oil exploration in this area, died for the country due to bad weather, and named the place where they died in memory of them as the Nanba Fairy.
