The Four Rivers Fountain is located in Navona Square, a fountain designed by Benini for the palace of Pope Philippe Roman. The "four rivers" refers to the four major rivers that mankind has conquered: the Danube, the Ganges, the Nile, the Rio de la Prada, and the four rivers represent the four continents of human civilization: the Danube means Europe, the Ganges means Asia, and the Nile means Africa. The Rio de la Prada River represents America, where the author symbolizes four rivers with four marble body statues, with rockery in the middle and an Egyptian square granite minarets, implying a victory for Catholicism around the world. The sculptures are surrounded by huge pools, the center of which is built with limestone piles into rockery, and the fountain exits are set in it.
