Five Goats Statue Review

One of the symbols of Guangzhou, Wuyang Stone, is located in Yuexiu Park. During the 2023 Guangzhou Garden Expo, it is surrounded by various beautiful flowers.

According to the ancient legend, a five-sheep sculpture was built in Yuexiu Mountain in 1959. This five-sheep stone carving, with a base height of 11 meters, shared more than 130 granite carvings, about 53 cubic meters in volume, and a stone material on the head of the sheep weighed more than 2 tons. Five sheep are different sizes, the ewe look up from a distance, mouth of the grain ears, and like looking back and smiling, visiting the world. The remaining four sheep, surrounded by their bodies, intimate snuggle, or play, or eat grass, or suckle. The posture is different, beautiful shape, fun.

Wuyang stone carving is located in Yuexiu Park in the center of Guangzhou, is a famous landmark of Guangzhou, city carving, it records the beautiful legend of Guangzhou. Legend has it that more than 2,000 years ago, there were five fairy people meeting with each other, when the sky was full of joy, the clouds were floating, five immortals were wearing colorful robes, riding five goats, each goat mouth containing six bunches of rice ears flying to Guangzhou, and the rice ears were airdropped in the fields. Suddenly, a miracle happened, and the vast fields full of weeds suddenly became a golden rice field. The five fairy people floating in the clouds, Yao wish this land every year, the grains and the famine, and then drive away. Guangzhou is not called Yangcheng, the rice ears in the sheep mouth bring abundance, Guangzhou is referred to as "Yu", this is how it came.

五羊石像坐落越秀公园内，该石像有一美丽传说：五位仙人身着五色衣服，骑五色羊，从南海飘来，降临广州，五只羊嘴里各衔一茎六穗的稻谷。仙人将稻穗送给当地居民，并祝福永无饥荒，言毕腾空而去，羊化为石。广州亦得别称“羊城”和“穗城”。

广州市越秀公园里耸立一座五羊石雕，通高十多米，石雕造型生动，五只羊栩栩如生。是越秀山（公园）的镇园之宝，是外地来穗旅游的朋友打卡地。
