Huacheng Square is known as Guangzhou "city living room", is the largest square in Guangzhou, from October 25, 2010, fully open to the public. The square is located in the core node of the Pearl River New Town on the new central axis of Guangzhou City, east of Yucun Road, west to Huaxia Road, north of Huangpu Avenue, south of Haixinsha. The master plan covers an area of about 560,000 square meters, planted more than 600 large trees and ancient trees, about two kilometers of walking wooden plank road and a floating island lake covering more than 1.5 million square meters. There are 39 buildings planned around, including the Guangzhou Library New Hall, Guangzhou Grand Theatre, Guangdong Museum New Hall, Guangzhou Second Children's Palace, Guangzhou Zhoudafu Financial Center, Guangzhou International Finance Center, etc. The Guangzhou International Lighting Festival has been held in Huacheng Square since 2011, and is listed as the world's three major light festivals with France and Sydney at the end of each year. In 2015, UNESCO selected the Guangzhou International Light Festival as a large cultural event in 2015, and made a special recommendation on the official website of the International Year of Light. The Huacheng Square Lighting Concert is held during the Spring Festival every year, with the Guangzhou Tower as the center, the night view of the two sides of the Pearl River and the new central axis as the background, linking the live music of Huacheng Square to stage large-scale city lighting performances to create a festival visual feast.
