Karamay Oil Field Review

Karamay oilfield is located in the northwest edge of the Junggar basin in Xinjiang, and the first well drilled is about 130 kilometers north of the Dushanzi oil mine. There is a "bitumen hill" in the northeast corner of the city, where water flows like a mountain spring, but black oil. Locals call this place "Black Oil Mountain", Uighur is "Karamay". Karamay oil field base is located in Karamay City, Karamay City is located in the northwest edge of Zhuanggeer Basin, located in the east longitude 84°42′, north latitude 45°36′, the city area is 9500 square kilometers. Karamay City is under the jurisdiction of 4 districts, 2 townships and 1 town. In 1990, the city's population was more than 260,000, of which Han people accounted for 76.24 [%], and more than 30 ethnic minorities such as Uighur, Kazakh, Hui, Mongolia, Man, Sibo, Russia accounted for 23.7 [%]. Karamay has more than 3,000 returning overseas Chinese, overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Three highway trunk lines cross the territory, and the city roads extend in all directions. There are regular shuttle buses to Urumqi and major cities in northern Xinjiang. The opening of the Northern Xinjiang Railway has diversified the transportation methods of Karamay, while Karamay Airport has direct flights to Urumqi and Beijing.
