Qamdo Karuo Town has a site of late Neolithic culture. Karuo site was discovered in 1977, and three excavations have been carried out, with an area of 3040 square meters, which is one of the three original cultural sites in Tibet recognized by the archaeological community. In 1996, the Karuo site was listed as the fourth batch of key cultural relics protection units nationwide. There are more than 20 houses unearthed here, as well as many stone production tools, grains, animal bones, etc., which are of great value to the study of early history of Tibet and worth visiting, but the transportation is inconvenient.
