Klias Wetlands Review

Kota Kinabalu is the capital of the Malaysian state of Sabah. Sabah is a good choice for friends who like nature. With Kota Kinabalu as the center, there are national parks and virgin forests nearby.

The Creas mangroves in Kota Kinabalu are a dense and animal-rich reserve. At low tide, the mangrove roots of the staggered roots will be exposed to the water, which is really dense. It is like a tropical rainforest mystery, which makes people look forward to exploring.

Mangroves are endemic plant species in tropical and subtropical areas close to the sea. They have high requirements for the surrounding ecological environment. There will be no mangroves in places with serious pollution. There are many beautiful mangroves in Sabah, and it is recommended to take a local day trip to the mangrove forest. The price is not expensive and the scenery is very good.

In the afternoon we went to Klias Mangrove, very close to Brunei. It takes more than two hours to drive from the cultural village, so you can sleep in the car for a while. Visits through local travel agencies are 160 cents per person. Self-driving tourists can negotiate with their bosses ahead of time, usually 100-120 cents per person, including afternoon tea, dinner, and looking at Longarm monkeys and fireflies. It's too hot for the long-arm monkey to come out. It's the best time after 4:30. The average cruise ship lasts 2 hours. Keep quiet and don't use flashlights when you are looking at long-arm monkeys in a boat. It would be lucky to see it. Long-arm monkeys are the first-class protected animals in the country. Their natural enemies are crocodiles in rivers and leopards in forests. Their greatest enemies are human beings. Because its meat is delicious and strong. A male monkey can have 7-8 female monkeys, and September is the mating period. It can mate five female monkeys at a time. Usually eat mangrove leaves (highly toxic) and, but long-arm monkeys have two stomachs, one for detoxification. The lollipops are also very poisonous. Locals grow them at their doorsteps. They don't come to resist snakes and rats. Dongguan rice noodles are very delicious in dinner. There are chicken, cucumber, crisp strips, local chili (super hot, addictive), and chicken soup with red dates in the bottom of the soup. Beef is cooked with coconut milk and spices. It's the staple food here. After dinner, go aboard again and see the fireflies. As it turns out, don't dream of shooting fireflies with mobile phones and ordinary SLRs. There is no air pollution, and the visibility is super high. All you have to do is quietly enjoy the fireflies and the stars. If you want to see fireflies at close range, turn off your cell phone and all the lighting and keep quiet. When the boat is near the woods, fireflies may fly to you.

After arriving in Sabah, you can choose to take Cheng's half-day tour of mangroves and fireflies, pick up guests in the hotel in the afternoon, drive for 2-3 hours and then take a boat in the Inland river. Along the way, we can see many long trees in the river and many monkeys, among which the long nose monkeys are rare. Their noses are really long and big. In the evening, I watched the sunset on the boat, ate a fisherman's meal, and watched fireflies after dark.
