Koh Ker Review

It is 90 kilometers away from Siem Reap, which was once the capital of the Khmer Dynasty in the early 10th century, and is protected within a few kilometers, with dozens of monuments. After entering the scenic spot, there is a large area of woods, there is a red dirt road leading tourists to various attractions, reminding me of the "Wild Oz" guide Dorothy to the yellow brick road of Emerald City. We only have enough time to see the largest monument, Prasat Thom, the tower gate in front of the big tower temple and other buildings were badly damaged, only broken tiles, and inside is a 7-story pyramid building more than 30 meters high. The stone steps on the front of the tower can not be climbed, and when repairs are carried out on the side, tourists can climb to the top, and the building on the top of the tower basically collapsed, as an observation deck is not bad. Because it is a high-rise building on the flat ground, the surrounding vegetation is dense, the 360-degree panoramic view, the blue sky and white clouds, the distant mountains and the forest are all panoramic.

Gaogai is a city site, about 3 hours drive from Siem Reap city chartered. Since it has not been fully opened up to my tourist attraction, the site is basically hidden in the forest. The most worth seeing of the high cover is a 7-story pyramid of more than 30 meters high. Although some damage, the overall structure is basically complete. According to our chartered driver, there are about 6 or 70 architectural sites in the high-rise site, which will be gradually renovated and developed soon, and is now listed on the UNESCO provisional World Heritage List.

The time of the Gongkai ruins overlaps with Angkor. After Gaye Mo IV (928 ～ 942), he moved the country from Angkor to this place, and his son relocated the country back to Angkor after his succession. The most important thing here is the pyramid, this pyramid building is completely different from all other temple buildings in Angkor, but more like the pyramid relics of Maya.

The rain forest explores the ancient temple, sweating to the top. Under the sunset, the cattle wander through the forest, as if dreaming back to the tenth century.

Gaogai is a site of an ancient city, there are actually many ancient architectural relics here. The most iconic is an ancient building of the pyramid type. Gaogai is a very worth seeing attraction when visiting Angkor Wat in Siem Reap.
