North University of China, located in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, is a comprehensive teaching and Research University jointly constructed by the Shanxi Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China. It is also a key university selected for the basic capacity-building project of colleges and universities in the central and western regions of China, an outstanding engineer education and training program, and a core University in China's aerospace industry. China's military leader and People's First Military Engineering School . Zhongbei University was founded in May 1941. Its predecessor was Taihang Industrial School, a military engineering school founded by the Command of the Eighth Route Army in the Taihang Anti-Japanese Base Area. It later went through North China Military Industrial School and Taiyuan Machinery Manufacturing Industrial School. In 1958, it was upgraded to Taiyuan Mechanical College. In 1993, it was renamed North China Institute of Technology. In June 2004, it was renamed Zhongbei University. As of February 2016, Zhongbei University has two campuses, the main campus and Shuozhou campus, covering an area of 25.01 mu, with a construction area of nearly 1.01 million square meters, a total fixed assets value of 1.93 billion yuan, a total value of 610 million yuan in educational research instruments and equipment, and a collection of 29.1 million books. There are more than 30,000 full-time students, including more than 30,000 doctoral and master students; a total of 23,688 faculty members; a total of 13 secondary colleges. It has 80 undergraduate majors, 6 post-doctoral mobile stations, 23 doctoral and 63 master's programs.
