The square is named after the bronze-cast fountain of the sea god in the square, which was created in 1566 by the famous French sculptor Giambalogna. The upper part of the sculpture is the sea god holding a trident spear, more than 3 meters high. At the foot of the sea gods are four little angels playing with dolphins, representing the wind, and four bountiful female sea demons symbolize the four famous continents before the formation of the ocean.
