The ancient city of Pingyao is located in the middle of Shanxi Province. It was built during the Zhou Xuanwang period. It was expanded in Ming and Hongwu in three years (1370), and it has a history of more than 2,700 years. It also retains the basic style of the county town in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is the most complete ancient city in China's Han ethnic area. Pingyao, Shanxi Province, is known as one of the "four best preserved ancient cities" and is one of only two ancient cities in China that have successfully declared a world cultural heritage in the entire ancient city.
