Scott was born in Edinburgh, where he was left with a lifelong disability after suffering from polio at the age of two, but he rode and hunted with a remarkable degree of perseverance and became a lawyer after graduating from the University of Edinburgh. He is both a poet and a historical novelist, has written 27 long historical novels such as Waverly, pioneering European historical novels, known as "Scottish soul" reputation. He influenced a group of literary masters such as Pushkin and Balzac. Marx even said in his grave that he could stop working but could not stop reading Scott's novels. Scott's monument was a square cone top, with a marble statue sitting at the middle. He was wide-robed and wide-sleeved, with a solemn expression. The monument is carved with various characters of Scott's novels and small statues of famous Scottish poets. The whole tower is divided into four floors with a total of 287 steps. It is said that when tourists climb the last level, dozens of protagonists in Scott's works will come to welcome them.
