At night in Suzhou, shuttle Shantang Street in the night is definitely an unforgettable experience. Shantang Street is 3,600 meters long and was built in the Tang Dynasty. It has a history of thousands of years and is rated as "China's famous historical and cultural street". Suzhou is a typical Jiangnan water town. Shantang Street has the characteristics of Suzhou streets and lanes. The streets are parallel with land and water, and the buildings on both sides are exquisite and elegant. Shantang Street is the essence of ancient Suzhou, known as "the epitome of old Suzhou, the window of Wu culture". Shantang Street can be divided into two sections, the east section from the Anmen Duseng Bridge to Bantang Bridge, the west section refers to Bantang Bridge to Huqiu Mountain. There are many rivers on Shantang Street, and the characteristics of bridges fully reflect the characteristics of Suzhou's water city. Most of the houses in the eastern section of the Shantang River are built by the water, and the water rafts and water pavilions are supported by wooden stakes. The western section of the river is thin and wide, and flowers and trees are planted on both sides of the river. The ancient bridges or flat or arches, or single or three holes across the water. Most of the ancient buildings along the street in Shantang, mostly buildings in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, are architectural groups formed by several drops, vertically, and horizontally. Here, shopping in the ancient street is the biggest fun. Here you can find old Suzhou brands such as: Caizhizhai, Wufangzhai, etc. There are really many shops with special pastries and handicrafts. The houses here are basically along the street along the front door, and the back door is facing the river. It is a typical water town. The Shantang River flows slowly from these houses, the awning boats docked on the shore, and the red lanterns on both sides of the building hang from a high place, very quiet, and let you cross back to ancient times in an instant.
