Sint-Jacobskerk Review

The church is good, long history, tall and very precious.

The church was built in 1093, but it was originally a wooden church, and in 1120 it was converted into a stone Romanesque church, and the future generations have continuously modified and expanded to become what it is today. The church was originally called St. James's Church to receive pilgrims from all over Europe (mainly north of Belgium), because medieval Europe was popular to pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, where they believed the remains of St. James, a disciple of Jesus, were buried St. James's Church. There are many pilgrimages, and Ghent is just a node on the pilgrimage road.

The church is located on the opposite side of a small bridge, the whole church is Gothic style, with a dark appearance, especially a medieval feeling, the church inside did not go in, because we went early in the morning, feeling no one inside.

The city of Ghent is not big, and the main cathedrals in the city are not far apart. St. Jacob's Cathedral may not be as famous as the other two, but its architecture is still very grand.

The church is also worth seeing, especially the interior of the church has some very beautiful religious relics on display, some are rare to see, St. Jacob's Cathedral is also a Roman Catholic church.
