The town of St Paul de Vance is a small village between Nice and Cannes. It is surrounded by medieval walls and is a holy place for modern art. Picasso is said to love the village very much. Dewans is close to the sea, the location should be very important, the village stone road twists and turns, the paths are lined with medieval buildings. In the 16th century, France was invaded twice in the war with Italy, and in order to improve its low defenses, the patron of the Renaissance arts and culture, then King François I of France, ordered the construction of strong walls and gates between 1543 and 1547. The walls have been preserved so far, and some military-defensive buildings can be seen in the city.
