No matter the day or the weather, Sullivan's hits the nostaglia mark. This is a place at Castle Island in South Boston where the locals (and others) go for the good grub. It was rainy on the day that I was out there but it was still busy and yet the line moved quickly. So, what to choose? Two dogs, mustard and relish, in toasted buns, crinkle-cut fries, a bowl of clam chowder and a chocolate shake. OK, so I treated myself! The counter guy was friendly as all of them have been when I've stopped by this classic food stand-type of eatery. Since it was raining, I noticed a number of people picking up their food and making a beeline back to their cars and trucks to chow down. For me, though, I plunked my food down on a narrow counter and ate it standing up, just like the regulars do. It's all good! Oh, while you're there, walk off your lunch (no matter the weather) with a trek around historic Fort Independence and you'll see all sorts of interesting things--planes taking off and landing at nearby Logan Airport and ocean-going freighters in Boston Harbor. Me? I'm ready to return now!
