The temple is the largest temple in Shigatse, Tibet, on the hillside of the mountain in the west of Shigatse city. The temple of Zashilunbu is the place of Panchen in Xi after the fourth dynasty. It is jointly called the "four major temples" of Gandan Temple, Sera Temple and Zhexuan Temple in Lhasa, and the four major temples as well as the Tar Temple in Qinghai and the Labrang Temple in Gansu as the "six major temples" of the Gelu school. Tashrambu Temple is one of the six famous monasteries of the Great Yellow Church in the country. On March 4, 1961, the temple was listed as a key national cultural relics protection unit by the State Council.
